It's that time of the month again. The Buck Moon in July denotes the time when new antlers appear on the deer. July's moon might also be called the Hay Moon, the Crane Moon or the Summer Moon.

news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2008/07/080731-solar-eclipse.htmlFull solar eclipse tomorrow, 1st August 2008. If you are luckier enough to be in the right part of the world you'll be able to see it. Which for those who don't open the link will be the following: When it starts, this year's full eclipse will be visible from a narrow arc spanning the Northern Hemisphere.
Its path will begin in Canada and continue northeast across Greenland and the Arctic, then southeast through central Russia, Mongolia, and China.
Before moving east, the eclipse will start over far-northern Canada around 8:30 a.m. Greenwich mean time (or about 4:30 a.m. eastern time). The eclipse will reach totality—when the sun is totally hidden by the moon—in just under an hour.
In a much wider swath of the globe—including northeastern North America along with most of Europe and Asia—people will be able to see a partial eclipse.

Sounds good though. Funnily enough I was thinking yesterday it is time for me to start helping others in some way in my work.
Our failure to care about anything outside of our own little lives lies at the heart of our cultural acceptance of the two most aberrant expressions of Leo: greed and a lust for power. So let’s all use this Aquarius Full Moon to transform our minds and get really involved in something bigger than our own personal stories.
Couldn't agree more.

Did anyone manage to get any photos of the crescent moon with Jupiter and Venus last night? There are some beautiful ones on the BBC website. When I walked out of university last night and saw it, I literally gasped at how lovely it looked. I love those moments that make you realise no matter how crap things are, you are just a small part of something very much bigger. All the rubbish in my life at the moment is really insignificant in the grand scheme of things It wasn't quite like this when I saw it, but I love that the sky is smiling here (from the BBC website)

Thanks Maydreamer.
It's interesting to see the different angle it is on from that other one. I like the one with the trees because it shows how it looked from our place.

You're alot braver than I am. I'm scared to death of lightning. Those are great pictures. I love the moon ones too. I especially like the one you took of the fingernail moon just over the pines. That's gorgeous.

There's NO way I'd be out taking the photos. Actually the really close one of lightning has a funny story attached. TOH was out on our decking trying to capture the lightning when an enormous crack of thunder came out of nowhere. He was inside like a flash but at least he got the great photo! ;D ;D ;D

My husband loves watching lightning outside, but I worry he'll get hit, since my brother and I almost did when I was 7.
