FABRIC sounds like the ideal organisation to road-test BMW's GINA ;D I miss my little yellow moped very much sometimes. I'd sit on the traffic lights and the boy racers would laugh at me... but they forgot that I had a better power to weight than they did and although they'd overtake me moments later, the looks on their faces when I shot off ahead of them was always priceless

I suggest we contact BMW about acquiring about a dozen of the GINAs to test and race. If that many exist at this point.

Boy Racers Outdone by Laughing Ladies - Yes! would be the outfit to test the GINA!

I'm assuming we are racing against the boy racers and not each other. Sort of a team effort. Would make victory even sweeter.

I refuse to test out anything by BMW.... I'm sorry but just no... I'll leave that to you lot.

For BROLLY you'd want the Bugatti Veyron Grand Sport, which more or less comes with a very expensive parasol to fit on top if you're doing the topless thing* and it starts raining.
*Driving the car with the hard top removed, not driving without your clothes on. Although I understand some people enjoy that kind of thing. Whatever floats your boat. If you can afford a Veyron, you can probably afford the fines resulting from any indecency conviction...

I'm glad you clarified that Wy. I was worried for a moment.

I always think GINA looks like it would turn inside out in a gust of wind, hence the BROLLY!

The GINA is pretty. Back to my point briefly, James was probably driven around by men. I do wonder if his experience would have been different if a woman had been behind the wheel.

This was a little while ago so it could be the Toy Stories thing.
However the new column in the magazine is good and there is another article where he is comparing the Fiesta and Polo. He also has a Basil Fawlty moment. ;d

Going back to driving styles, does anyone else drive to the music?
My music's very important to me, and I tend to choose it to suit the kind of journey I'm going to do, plus the mood I'm in. Then I tend to do things like change gear only at the end of a line of the song. I've been known to go "the long way round" so I can carry on changing gear till the end of a song and I can't switch off the engine in the middle of a line, got to let it get to the end.
And when I'm really in the mood I find a long straight bit of road (lots round here) and load up Fleetwood Mac's "The Chain", then dawdle till I get to the Formula One bit, then floor it bigtime.
Am I alone in this? If I am, am I mad?

No Dit - not mad at all. Music is a lifeline for me too and a very important part of the driving experience. Heavy rock definitely makes me take corners as fast as I dare whilst a bit of Bach makes me drive in a rather jaunty way (I know, bit hard to imagine) - I only play his orchestral works in the car as I can't hear the detail of any of his keyboard works. If I'm listening to Imogen Heap or Crowded House, I'm more sedate.

Just when you think a man's perfect, he gets more perfect.
My only problem now is - will any man IRL ever match up?

Good article with some good comments too. The Crumbs household tend to buy cars that looks like they'll live a minimum of ten years. Our oldest is 15 this year and still going strong (nb. I love this car with a passion and it's not even particularly beautiful). We think about replacements when they become heinously unreliable. Once, a car was taken away on it's final journey and Mr Crumbs watched it go with a tear running down his face.......

Nice drift....
Or, in another sense. "She was as pure as snow but she drifted" (where do I remember that from?)

That's it! Not that Mae West is of my vintage, you understand, but I've seen the line in "famous quotes" books.
