I've fallen over this, which is on the Top Gear site but is presumably from the mag. It's old, written before he bought the Ferrari. I've not seen it before, but I think it's an excellent piece of writing and particularly interesting in hindsight. www.topgear.com/uk/james-may/james-may-ferrari-2007-15-07

James's article in the latest TG magazine. I meant to post it here sooner, but better late than never, I suppose. Posted here because....well, just because it's so very James! ;D Attachments:

Thanks for posting that. Yes it was very James. Hmm...I wonder if my shooting would be better after a pint or two? Probably better not to find out.

Blimey, that was quick! I'm sure the articles don't usually appear on the TG website as soon as that, but maybe I've just never spotted them before.

I love his jottings. I'd also quite like to see him dance.

I think James is referring to state-dependent learning or context-dependent memory. I'm an awesome pool player drunk.

Excellent article. Makes me want to buy an old workshop myself. Too bad I don't have one next door.

Nice column. James already mentioned in one of the radio interviews he had bought the place. Sarah and he had very different ideas about what to do with it. I got the impresssion Sarah won.

I'd love a giant workshop-type area attached to my house. Lucky James! I can see it being like a mini Man Lab, with the advantage that he wouldn't even have to go outside to get to it (I'm assuming he'd knock a door through the adjoining wall).

James's latest TG Magazine article. Funny, and a bit sarcastic, but in a good way. It brightened up a rather long Sunday shift at work. Attachments:

Delivery of a lathe suggests he may have got his own way about the workshop after all!

I feel so much better knowing that he's read the Triumph manual. At least now he knows the dangers of adjusting the brakes while in motion. ;D ;D

I have just read te bit about James' lathe to the man, he got technical with me and said that type of lathe was used for making bolts or studs. He also said he thought James would have more use for the Whitworth (used on old motor bikes circa 1950's,) or AF( American fine,) threads. I just said I thought James might have been experimenting with his new 'toy.
