*huge hugs to Maureen* When people started the inevitable "children" question after I'd been married for a few years, I took sadistic pleasure in pointing out that I can't have them. I know it's evil of me, but it didn't half shut the buggers up ;D Awww hun Most people had the 'so, you seeing anybody yet?' question from the family. I get it from the same f*cking annoying nosey members of mine. After a while, saying 'No, not yet' or 'Hes out there somewhere' sh*t began to depress me. So I took it upon myself to joke about being a lesbian. And that shut my lot up big time. Until my sister got a boyfriend then they started asking again

How very odd... the whole Telegraph site is looking muchas peculiar in Safari this afternoon, not just James's column... a web-coding glitch, perhaps.

Had to laugh when he said he's no oil painting. Quite a few ladies here who would beg to differ. Do you think that is why he is so attractive? Because he is totally unaware of it himself. When I see a really good looking bloke, but he acts like he knows he is really good looking, it brings on the urgh factor for me Couldnt agree more. And sorry but I think the mayflower is quite a posh looking car in the right colours.

I'm sure the Mayflower would be better looking if it didn't appear that the sides had been sheared off...

the comment form seems to have vanished off the page..... let us hope it's only temporary..... and no comments have been added. I would hate to lose the possibility to leave comments.

It's not hideous it's a post war car and not particularly breath taking. Maybe a modern equivalent would be the VW Golf. It's just there. Non descript. Anyone else relieved to see James's column? *wipes brow*

I was wondering what happened to the comments section too. I tried the link from here and managed to get my comment in. I'm dreading seeing the mushy, lovey-dovey ones that other people will post as well. I had to disagree about the Pacer, which I thought was such a cute car when I was 10. I did agree with him about the Alfa Romeo. That's a gorgeous car. And don't worry, I only compared him to one of the Rembrandt paintings I had posted on the "Which Art Reminds you of James" thread. That's about all I mentioned as far as his looks go, since it was in reference to him saying he's not oil painting, which I found humourous. Then as soon as I posted, the comments section disappeared. I guess we'll have to see what happens, possibly on Monday.

Hello all - I'm back. After a wet week in Wales I've now had a wet week in Weston, oh the joys of the British holiday. I see that all the missing posts from 2 weeks ago (the airship one) finally appeared, even my slightly sarky comment I'm busy catching up with all the news on here - love the new James pics. Now, to write my post.....

In fact, you've put some of my favourite cars in this thing, including the Alfa Romeo SZ, you Philistines.
*cracks up*
And a 120y? James, you are joking, aren't you...

How peculiar. Lew is right if you follow the link posted on this thread the form is there however if you go via James's page and there click on the "Think Again" link you will see the column minus the form... I have to come to the conclusion that this might hopefully be a software glitch....

Well I commented yesterday so I think it might be a glitch somewhere. But if they've taken it off, part of me wouldn't blame them.

Yes I commented too yesterday. And I agree with you Lymaze, I wouldn't blame them either. They are in their full right to do so however it would be sad for the regular comment writers to be punished by the innappropriatedness of others.

Exactly, for me it seems as if all messages regardless of their content are being posted. Perhaps they only moderate spam adverts and not so much genuine comments? I guess I'll have to apply for a moderating position there lol.

The bin would be full of those rude posters and nosey rumour mongers on my desk as well, if I decided to apply and get away from my miserable finance job.

I have to come to the conclusion that this might hopefully be a software glitch.... WCH, Lew: question, what link are you using that still shows the comments section option for this week? While I've only commented once to him (and that was 3 weeks ago?, when he mentioned about beer making in the caravan), I do like reading the replies from others, as several (and several of you ;D) are very funny. I can go back to previous weeks and other columnists and see their comments area there (and the option to still add comments should I want), but I still do not see the same for this week's for James' contribution (although I realize it's only been a day since this new one of his posted). I've got Firefox, IE and even the new Chrome browsers (and I use XP), but still no go with any of them for this week's. It does sound like a glitch of some sort, but could the DT moderators of the column also be tracking and blocking certain ISPs (I don't know how that all works, so just asking the question to those who might)...although that doesn't make much sense either, especially for us 'readers-only'?? Otherwise, I'm thinking the DT is trying to prevent all the 'James is an oil painting of beauty' comments that his column this week is quite clearly baiting some fans to reply back with...maybe they think those comments will be more nauseous than funny and have suspended the option for this week (just theorizing only)...Reading some of his past columns and all now, I don't think James nor the DT staff would be so quick to throw the baby out with the bathwater as so many respondents have acted really well and respectfully to him over quite a bit of time. I'm also confident that James, being a bit used to being a public figure and all now, gets any number of comments...on a variety of issues...that are far worse than anything posted on the DT, and he probably handles it in great stride, with his occasional profanity and spot-on sarcastic humor. He does appear to be an incredibly clever, well-grounded, and quick-witted bloke after all, and is used to being barbed all the time. JMHO, for what it's worth.

I agree with WCH and ly.....though I do sometimes wonder why they have mods...... shouldn't they sort the rubbish out. But this is it; the bloody dont! I made a complaint to them the other day (and very nicely, I might add!) because of a comment I thought was a) Not actually a comment on the column (unrelated) and b) just plain rude about another person. Nothing was done. Just makes me more determined than ever that the only thing we can do is continue to bring the focus back to James' work and away from the bitchiness. We all have a role to play in the fight against MEANESS!
