Now that I finally have a bit of time to relax, I can tell you all the reason why my visits here have been somewhat infrequent recently. Basically, in the space of about three to four months, I've managed to not only sell one house, but buy another one as well. ;D This includes getting my house ready for marketing, receiving and accepting an offer over the asking price just six days after it went up for sale, moving out last Monday, and exchanging contracts on my new house yesterday, having had my offer accepted on 7 May. I get the keys on 26 July. All in all, I reckon that's not bad going in the current property market. The culmination of this sequence of happy events is that my OH and I will be setting up our very first home together in the new house. We're both looking forward to that very much.

That's absolutely brilliant, Sarah! As you say, that's excellent progress for the way things are at the moment, and to get an offer over your asking price is stunnng!
May you and your OH have very many happy years in your new home.

That is wonderful news Sarah. I have been waiting with some anticipation for you to make an announcement. It seemed from what you have written in the past that you had met Mr. Right. Fantastic news about the house too, so many houses seem to be 'sticking' these days.

Thanks, folks. I must say, I was pretty surprised to get such a good offer for my house. I certainly never expected it! ;D Just for the record, my new house is a modern three storey, mid terrace house, and this is the view from the living room on the first floor:- Attachments:

Congratulations XJS! Like Eshalda, I have been wondering when some "news" would be forthcoming. I'm sure you'll both be very happy in that lovely house.

Pretty view - but I imagine the water level's a bit higher than that at the moment! I wouldn't be surprised, after all this rain! Mind you, so far there's been no flood warning for that stretch of the river on the Environment Agency website, so it should be OK. The previous photo comes from the advert for the house, and shows the river in its normal state. However, when I viewed the house at the beginning of May, the river was higher after the heavy rain back then. Even so, it still wasn't even close to bursting its banks, as can be seen here, in my own photo of the same view:- Attachments:

That's one hell of a view! I love weeping willows too. I guess that's the next best thing to having a garden big enough to own one!

I have just stepped way out of my comfort zone and done something that's neither practical or responsible, but is exciting and appealing. I've just traded in my 10-year-old car for a 2012 Mazda MX-5! I picked it up on Thursday morning and have already put on 400km, despite having had to work all of Thursday, Friday and Saturday at a job that's a three-minute drive away. My old car was a basic 4-door with a spacious trunk, and I've now got a car with no back seat and a trunk that's just big enough to put my purse in and a few bags of groceries. And it's in red, so it must be my mid-life crisis car at age 39 ;D It's also got a power retractable hard top so I can get bugs in my face on a nice day. I can't believe I did this but I'm also really pleased with it -- it handles like a dream and is perky and exciting on the highway. Don't mean to bore anyone with this but I just had to tell somebody! Everyone in my life sees me as someone who's responsible and doesn't take chances, and then I show up in this car... I didn't know eyes could get that wide. ;D

Every woman needs a racy car at some point in her life to bring out certain aspects of her personality. Thing is, you'll probably be hooked from now on, and every time you want to change a car you'll find yourself thinking, "Oh, it'll have to be another convertible, I can't imagine going back to a boring car now"!
Fab looking car, by the way. Excellent in red!
