Of course I meant STATE. Curse you Mayfayre, now I have visions of horses and riders munching their way through mountains of sates in record time!!! ;D

I finally have a happy event! I am now among the employed. I start at an elementary school on Tuesday in Special Education. It's been a long road.

It is support for a kinder child. I'll find out the rest Tuesday. A school with only 300 kids is just so small compared to the 900 I worked in for 8 years!

I was at Media City, Salford on Friday for a meeting with a casting agent and long story short (as they say) I've been taken onto their books for work as a supporting artiste with the possibility of small speaking roles (as I've got professional acting training). Photoshoot for portfolio at the beginning of November.
I'm realistic to know that I'll not get a lot of work and possibly nothing for a long time but I also know that this is a good agency who place 'real people' - I'm not young, slim or pretty and that's exactly what they're looking for. I also know the fees they charge are lower than most agencies and perfectly reasonable. I'm chuffed to bits!

Woohoo Dit! Well done you! I know how hard it is out there. My daughter is in the business (musical theatre) and it's really tough. She has done a degree in music theatre, lots of amateur stuff and an extra role in a film (with Harvey Keitel), but earns her money teaching voice and cello and looking decorative in promotional work . Finding an agent was a nightmare and I'm still not convinced about them. I don't know anything about it so was of no help. I'm thrilled to bits for you and hope the roles roll in!!

Thanks for all your good wishes, folks! I don't imagine I'm likely to ever get beyond 'woman passing by on other side of pavement for two seconds' but even if I only get that far I know I'll be fascinated by watching how these things are done.

I know I've kind of gone quiet lately but I've got a happy event that I cannot shut up about or stop jumping for joy over at random times. I just got hired to do something that isn't retail or food service. Starting October 8th, I will be joining PPD(Pharmaceutical Product Development) as an Associate Scientist and making drugs. The legal kind. I've been looking for work nearly four years now and still can't believe I just got a job offer rather than a rejection. Tears of joy flying here. Tears. Of. Joy. ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Now, don't set fire to anything, will you...
