OMG!! I am so so excited! I just listened to a bit of it and he said that he was making a science programme for BBC2 about THE MOON!!

I may not have revealed this here but I love the moon so much!

This will be one of the best things on tv ever when it will be shown!!

I'm not going to have a rant. And I would like to say that the following is NOT aimed at anyone in particular - I'm just hoping that as this is a board for fans of James, the more 'nutcase' element of the fandom might lurk sometimes and might read this...

1. I am assuming that the person who 'tracked him down to his local pub where he always thought he would be safe' is a misguided 'fan' who has no idea of How Not To Piss Off The Person You Are A Fan Of. And quite bloody rude at the same time. I gather from the tone of voice that it was someone who actually approached him in the Cross Keys and disturbed him, rather than someone who happens to be a fan of James May being in the pub at the same time as he was, which is a VERY different thing.

2. However, The Cross Keys is A PUBLIC HOUSE and James has mentioned many times that it's his local, as well as filming in there several times. It's a lovely pub - it serves decent food and a wonderful pint of London Pride. I don't think it's fair to expect people who happen to be fans of James who live nearby or have friends who regularly drink in there to avoid it. (In the same way that I regularly go for tea and cake in Jaffe and Neales in Chippy, even though someone famous frequents it...)

I think what I'm trying to say here is that there is a huge difference between visiting a pub or a bar or a restaurant or a shop that happens to be the same one that a famous person uses and hanging out somewhere hoping someone famous will come in, and then going over and bothering them. People who deliberately visit a pub to disturb James are STALKERS and they need to stop. James has hundreds, thousands of fans. People who stalk him make life very, very uncomfortable for those of us who are ordinary fans.

Beckstar, I think you've nailed it absolutely. You have got it spot on. Having listened to the comment James made, I think you've summed up the difference very nicely between someone who behaves inappropriately and one who doesn't.
