Every company seems to have one. I work for a company consisting of precisely four people, and even we've got one.
Although, in this case, she is related to someone.

Wy, from what I've heard about her, I had a feeling she'd end up in the Sin Bin before too long! Best place for her, by all accounts.

Me, for breaking my trusty Old Camera (which is a leviathan, being almost 13 years old at this point). It used to belong to TOH, and he bought me a new shiny whizzy one,, but I could NOT make it work, and so he gave me the old one and kept the new one himself. Sounds a bit self centred, but hponestly, I love this old one. It doesn't have a bazillion gadgets, and is nice and simple to use. It was until I dropped it on the floor and broke it So stupid of me! I'd been taking lots of pictures on a day out, but as I do, I was feeling a bit breathless and wheezy, so I handed it over to TOH while I had a rest and a good breath or two. When he handed it back, I stupidly didn't put the strap back around my wrist. took a couple more pictures, then just LET IT DROP, expecting it to swing around my wrist as normal. Naturally, it went straight to the floor. I am gutted. It's almost Christmas and I have no camera now. Bah Humbug

What's the make and model, Daisy? OK, so we can't do anything about sorting it in time for Christmas, but I'm sure we can all keep an eye out in all the places we mooch about online for something close. And I don't think it's self-centred - I've had my whizzy camera for over a year and I still haven't got the hang of it. Simple is often best

Best camera I ever had was an old East German ex police camera. Dropped it into a canal in Amsterdam for exactly the same reason as Daisy
I've never achieved the same results on a digital as I did on that old clunker.

Honest to F*** people. I'm not going to make it to January. Just one day where everything goes right, just one.
After I typed that, I spilled 8ozs of coke on my computer. Never done that before. Sticky.
EDIT: Now, trying to entertain myself with photobucket..it's down. The girl will be wanting dinner soon. I'm afraid to go in the kitchen. Lots of breakable and flammable things in there.

Commiserations, JM2, you've clearly had a bad weekend. At least your daughter is OK, which is the most important thing.
I detest to the highest level those who steal from charities. My local Oxfan (wonderful shop, inspiring staff) have told me how many people try to steal things that are only 99p in the first place - and these aren't the homeless. I think they must do it for kicks.

Agreeing with the sentiment that those who steal from charities are, with very few exceptions, utter toerags.
I'm sinbinning my office, especially the facilities manager who forgot to set the heating over the weekend, meaning that me and my lurgy had to sit in a freezing cold office all morning. It's only just 18C now!
I'd also like to sinbin our IT system, which hasn't noticed I've cancelled lots of invoices over the last six months and keeps sending out reminders. And when I check, lo and behold, the orders aren't cancelled. Bugger.

Girls,i'm a bit angry and i want to ask you if you can understand me or tell me if i did something wrong. I'm gonna try to use my best English We have a new colleague and she's already been 3 times sick for a week. Now she has something at her back (she said so...) and i put on my facebook : "enough working for today,i did a lot of extra hours". That was all. Now she deleted me and blocked me :s Because of that I don't know what to think about her. I have a suspicion that she doesn't come back to work. But we have to do her job :s I'm really upset, she seemed a nice girl.

You didn't do anything wrong. The next time you see her, just tell her you're sorry she hasn't been feeling well, and don't bring up the facebook thing at all. If the extra workload remains an issue for you and your other coworkers, then you all need to talk with your boss.
You may need to rethink the division in your personal and work life, and leave facebook for your family and friends, rather than coworkers. Social media blurs this distinction and not uncommonly leads to trouble.

Yes that's true. She was the only one (from work) that was on my facebook. She said we were soulmates :s so i thought she was kind and sweet. I really doubt it that she's gonna come back.

Melly I have found that if someone is so thin-skinned to react in such a way, then they will be "hard work" as a friend. You have done nothing wrong. You didn't blame her for the extra work, although she clearly feels guilty. Also agree with everything Fizzy said.

Excuse me while I get cross.
A rather unpleasant couple rent a house next to me. They are 'known to the police' (I won't go into details).
They got a Doberman puppy before Christmas that is now a young dog. The man has already been reported to the RSPCA for kicking it on the street, but nothing seems to have been done.
Tonight for the first time they've let it out into the garden late (went out at 11.30pm, now 1.10am). It's barked continually, eight short, deep barks, two beats, another eight and repeat. I don't get up early but those who have to go to work at 7am must be furious.
Why do people get pets but refuse to control them?

Will continued reports to your RSPCA help? Leaving a puppy out in the cold in the middle of night can't be approved care.

Fizzy, that is a very good idea. If the police get involved, they could be charged with animal cruelty, which has become a very serious offense over here.

Trouble is, I don't know whether the RSPCA have actually done anything (given them a warning, perhaps) or done nothing. I don't know the neighbour well who reported the situation, and I don't know whether he's been given any feeback.
It was the first time this had happened so could have been a one-off. I'm going to see if it becomes regular. Unfortunately the people next door are not the sort you can raise anything with.

On Facebook there are posts from Rescues, Fosters, Shelters, etc. I share every picture I get to give an animal a chance at a good life. Most of the time they are murdered at our Pounds/Shelters. I hope the RSPCA is as good as you say because that dog may end up dead. A couple of you on this board see what I post and it is heart breaking. My animals were ( I don't have any now) my family and treated as such, not a cute puppy to neglect. Off my soapbox now.

The RSPCA has legal powers and the right to confiscate animals and prosecute owners, Vivienne. That's why they're the first port of call for anyone reporting a neglect or cruelty case. Wherever possible, confiscated animals are rehomed.

I wish I could give you a more informed opinion, but for what it's worth I think the RSPCA should become involved if this wasn't just a one-off thing. That poor puppy deserves a chance to have a home where he's loved instead of kicked. Those neighbours sound like hellions, Dit. You have my sympathies!

What probably happened with the dog is that it was making a noise in the house, they got fed up and turfed it out into the night. I used to live next door to a woman who did that - her dog was one of those little yappy things and it drove me mad.
If you have a dog, then you should train it, or take it to be trained if you lack the knowhow. Too many people don't think about training animals. Your animal = your responsibility.

I'm putting tendonitis up here. Have hardly been able to lift a finger since mid December. And don't know if I've over-exerted myself until 3-5 hours after the fact, so have to keep still. Eating hurts, cooking hurts, washing and drying my hair hurts, work hurts if I work too long ... BORING! (Silver lining: Check the pedestal thread.)

The customer who threw things at me, screamed (literally did scream) when I couldn't see where one of those things had gone, called me fat, blind, f------ stupid, rude (yeah, cos you were the model of decorum, my dear) and required five staff members including the duty manager and the security guard to remove her from the store last night. You made me cry in front of other customers, bitch. I hope you did miss your bus I hope you're still stranded in the bus station. I'm awake at 2.30 am because I'm still so stressed and wound up that I cannot calm down enough to sleep.

That's messed up. Some people have no idea how to treat other people. Or they just don't care.
Hope your boss and co-workers took good care of you afterwards, no one should have to be treated like that at work. Also hope today will be a much better day for you.
