That's horrible, and completely unnecessary. I agree with slfriend79 - she deserves a long walk home in absolutely pouring rain, the nasty piece of work

I would say a very, very long walk home. The callousness of people is sometimes unbelievable. Hope you are doing better Daisy.

Daisy, I'm so sorry you had to deal with that imbecile. Try to relax, maybe a bubble bath and glass of wine, and don't let her issues become your problem.

I'm shoving Charles moore( editor of the Telegraph, and Margaret Thatchers biographer) in here, for this henious quote from a Radio 5 show: 'She (Margaret T) was reviled in parts of the country that are less important ...' How dare he decide which parts of the country are 'important' and less 'important,' such arrogance. No wonder there is the so called North/ South divide, it's people like him that nourish and feed that division, which really should not be there at all. I'm angry.

If you love your job, melly, I'm sure that it shows. Some bosses are just difficult no matter what. Mind you, some people are just plain difficult too. It's great that you enjoy your work. Not too many people can truly say that. Charles Moore sounds like an a$$. My state is generally divided North/South as well. It's usually perpetuated by the politicians. They like to keep the people fighting amongst themselves. That way no one notices what they (the politicians) are really doing.

Back to the sin bin all neighbours with their improvised barbecues. The first decent evening in weeks and I come home to what appears to be a live re-creation of the Great Fire of London just the other side of my fence. And guess which way the wind is blowing.
They've built a fire big enough to spit-roast a whole ox. Bet they're only doing a couple of sausages.
May their rolls land butter side down!

I'm so angry at my boss. Normally,i wanted to work 32 hours when i started this job,4 years ago. Now,on a normal week i do 40 hours. Not so odd but now i do 48 hours and i'm overworked. This was not what i wanted when i started this job. And my other 2 collegues they make my hours, while they are having a coffee, smoke outside while i'm doing their job. And my boss likes them more then me. I'm so mad. My collegue, wich is the best one,is on holiday now so i understand that i have to do more hours because i'm the only one that can do her work. But they didn't gave me the time to do her work, because i was busy doing the work from the others,so today on my free day i'm going to work. They didn't ask me to do this, but i'm doing it for me collegue. So,i got a phone call from my boss, asking me when i will be coming :s Good lord !!! Why can't he be just happy that i'm coming on my free day I'm not sleeping that goodf anymore,i lost a lot of weight,i'm moody and my kid tells me that i work too much. And the problem is that i can't talk to my boss. He's horrible. I would love to have another job but with the crisis i'm too scared.

That's a lot of hours to be working Melly, especially with a little one. Can you put your concerns to your boss in writing, rather than trying to talk to him? That way you can clearly state your point of view, and explain that the number of hours you are expected to work is unsustainable, and is affecting your health. You can word it in a civil, non-threatening way, and just see what happens. If you don't let your feelings be known, nothing will change. Good luck with it, and hugs to you.

What JM said ^. Be polite, and point out that the current situation is not good for either you or the company in the long run. If you have a Personnel or Human Resources director, send them a copy. Make it clear you want to work out a reasonable solution for everybody. I hope you're being compensated for all these extra hours. Good luck and keep us posted.

Melly, if you're not ready to confront your boss yet, keep a diary. Note the number of extra hours you are doing, extra tasks that aren't yours, the times your colleagues are on breaks and you're not etc. It will help you to get your argument straight.
In the meantime, look around for another job. Speak to people who may be able to help you, get an up to date CV together and start sending it around to companies, place it with agencies. It'll probably make you feel better just to be doing something positive. If you're that unhappy in your current job, you have to get out. You can't go through life dreading every working day - voice of experience here!
Good luck, and let us know how you're getting on.

So after yesterday i worked 50 hours. I was very tired and me collegues saw that. I started to cry, really don't know why,but my boss didn't seem to care. He's just like that. He's not helping us either. Always behind his desk. My collegues were nice and the other one was back from her holiday. She's like a mom for me and she gave me a big hug. I know that i should get another job but the fact is,i like my job,it's the boss that vis my problem. And i quit a job before because of a boss,i don't want to do it now. So i talked to the 2 collegues, they make my hours, and i told them i've done too much hours. So i'm 3 day's home next week. I have to work for 2 weeks and then i'm 3 weeks home,on holiday. My boss is someone who can't understand anything. He's never asking about my son or husband. He only thinks of himself. But ok,i slept 10 hours and i'm gonna do it very slow today.

Melly, I'm with Fizzy on this one. You should probably have Human Resources in on this. Don't bad mouth your boss but let them know how many hours you're working and that wasn't part of the arrangement originally. Do you have a union? I speak from experience on this. They can be an excellent moderator. Time with your family is more important. Good luck.

Thirded Also, Melly, I'm glad you've managed to explain how you feel to your colleagues, even if your boss is a complete bellend. Who deals with rotaing you all? Perhaps you can ask for a slightly fairer distribution of hours. I agree with you - sometimes it doesn't matter that you get paid for the extra hours, having the time for yourself is far more valuable. Hang in there, at least you have a break coming, but when you go back to work, don't let your colleagues forget how you feel now *hugs*

I wanna throw in people who doesn't leave other people's belongings alone in the bin! When I got out from the hospital where I work and take the bike home I found my bicycle gone.... It's been stolen over night. Not happy at all! It's the second one in a short period of time that has been stolen as well.

Dref Wen publishers - in the Bin with you! Since I moved to Cardiff, I've been trying to learn Welsh, and I'm starting, slowly, to get the hang of it. I've just started reading simple books, and when I was at St Fagans museum, I found the Welsh version of The Gruffalo - which has always been one of my favourite books - in the gift shop. It was fun, and I was happy, so I ordered Plentyn y Gryffalo, which is the Welsh version of The Gruffalo's Child. I started reading, and even though it takes me ages because my Welsh isn't very good yet, I very quickly noticed something. They kept referring to the child as 'ap Gryffalo'. Now, 'ap' is a naming convention that identifies someone as 'son of' - which is where you get names like 'ap Huw' and 'ap Tomos' from. I did wonder if there was a more modern use that means it has replaced 'ferch', which means 'daughter of' and is virtually never heard any more, but they were using 'him' and 'his' all the way through. THE GRUFFALO'S CHILD IS A GIRL!!! Julia Donaldson is on record explaining that she wanted the child to be a girl, and that she wanted to write a father/daughter dynamic, and that she wanted to write a brave, feisty little girl character. And now they've ignored all that and turned her into a boy. I'm really cross, and I've written to Dref Wen to tell them so!

Let us know if you get a response.
I'm binning the contractor that I hired to install new shelves in 2 storage closets. As I started to put away the giant piles of stuff that I previously removed from said closets, I found a bunch of things no longer fit in there. Then I realized the @#$% contractor had installed the shelves in THE WRONG PLACE. The stuff I needed to put away was sitting right there in plain sight and I'd even measured it for the contractor. Why are men so stupid? A woman would never have done this.

Is it possible to bin the same entity twice in 3 days? One of the contractor's dudes came over this am and fixed the shelves. He was also supposed to put a new mailbox at the end of my driveway because the post office decided they didn't want boxes at the end of the road anymore. He put the freakin' mailbox IN THE WRONG PLACE. The contractor had put a stone on the ground to mark the site last week with me and the dude watching, and it's still right there, about 15 ft away from where the dude actually put the mailbox. I really don't care but I suspect the mailman and snowplow driver will both complain, and the box appears likely to fall over the first time it rains hard because it's on the edge of the ditch.

An example of miscommunication or I don't give a s*** work, or both. I really do wonder how some businesses are still alive. There's a show on HGTV about renovations that the contractor has done that look good on the outside and aren't up to code on the inside. A nice guy with his own company goes to the owners and renovates the property right at his own expense.

You didn't happen to get his name, did you? Since I posted the above, the dude also did a **** crap of installing shelves in my garage. He was supposed to apply sealer to my decks but only did 90% of one, and I just discovered the motion sensor no longer works on the light on the other. Don't know what happened there. He's a really nice guy, and I don't want to cause him trouble by complaining to his boss, but enough is enough.
