I just looked, MF, and they're great. Thank you for that. Jacqui, thank you for letting us know how you and your daughter's adventure went. I think that is so sweet.

Just thought I'd add my two penn'orth I had an absolutely fantastic day. It was a delight to meet the chaps - James is terribly good looking and Oz is a very charming man - but even better was meeting up with so many of the ladies here. And I promise you are unlikely to see me drinking halves again, that really was just a time thing! Thank you all for making it the great day it was. Glad everyone got home safely. Looking forward to next time There's an amusing little postscript to our day. In the evening, MF and I walked past some shops and one of them had some assorted plaster things in the window - not very many - and the centre of the display was an 'Infant Jesus' statue, all set against a plain black background. Except... there was a poster tucked into the display, five little words on a red ground... yep, "Keep Calm and Carry On" ;D

It's ok, Jacqui, I have that sort of problem too, things have be straight and such. I was a bit annoyed at Oz though, he bent the spine of my book when he opened it to sign it and now the pages are bent But he touched it, so I don't mind ;D I'm sure the "touch" makes up for the bent pages ;D

So glad to hear that those of you who braved the cold and rain had a great time at the signing(s) yesterday. I'm sorry to have not been there, but on this particular instance my career did have to come first, and very useful the day was too.
I am, of course, incandescent to hear that yet again someone felt they had the right to invade James's personal space... Hopefully if that person is reading the comments on this board, they'll be ashamed of their behaviour. Just because Oz does it doesn't mean you can...

And I promise you are unlikely to see me drinking halves again, that really was just a time thing! I get you with that, I think it's because the bottles only would fit into a half glass, otherwise I'd have had a pint too. I mean, I was driving when I got home, so I wouldn't have. Not that it would have mattered. The amount of time I was stranded at London Bridge, the alcohol would have all gone by the time I got home anyway! ;D

Ah, but the Speckled Hen wasn't bottled. It pained me to go up to a bar and ask for a half of ale, but needs must

I didn't see you with the Speckled Hen! I'm assuming that was before the signing?

I'm loving the pictures, it looked like really good fun. Did you all meet up or were you in separate groups? And did he know you were JMB-ers?

I don't think he knew that we were all JMB-ers. But we pretty much all met up before hand, bar Shazzy, MF and Wy, who we met there

It must be a rather an odd feeling to know that you inspire nerves and speechlessness in dozens of women you have never met! Lucky you were there for Oz, Vixen, he might have felt left-out otherwise.

;D Poor Oz, I'll make him feel better, I'm good at that ;D and ignore poor james in doing so! I made a point of speaking to Oz, he was very friendly and chatty. I'd knew I'd get distracted later. By the way if that previous comment was aimed at me, the answer is no.

I can't believe someone did that. The fact that James has said countless times that he doesn't like people invading his personal space, you would have thought that they would catch on *huffs*

I hate that sort of thing too. I'd have found it really hard not to slap somebody who was trying to do that to me ;D

I went out this morning and a random woman stopped, right in front of me - face to face, and demanded to know where next was. I didn't have a clue said I didn't and walked off. She shouted "thanks miserable" and I was standing there mouth open thinking hold on you just come up to me in a maner of nastiness demand to know where something is then call me miserable because I don't know?! By this time the anger had escaped and I was stood there in the mall shouting abusive things at her...Ooops my bad

I thought I ought to explain, as I was probably a bit odd myself yesterday, that I was fighting down panic attacks for most of the day, and had also forgotten to eat. Apparently in the few months since I stopped commuting into central london every day, I've forgotten how to deal with it. In future, I'll make sure I've got someone with me to keep me calm. Anyway. I was already in a bit of a panic by the time I got inside, and the fact that there were people crossing in front of me to get through the door made me worse, so my vision had gone a bit odd and I couldn't look at people. Most annoying, as I'd come down from Bolton early for the signing and stood about in the rain, and then I couldn't even look at James' hands, never mind his face. Anyway, to clarify the hair business, I was stood with the Pievy lot - I'm not sure if they were just lurking, or waiting for other people to get through the queue - and watching the other people getting stuff signed to distract myself from the fact that I had no clear way to the door. I'm pretty sure that she was well before all the JMB types in the queue, as she was only a couple of people behind me, and the Pievy people went through before me. I still couldn't see people clearly, I was just getting vague impressions of most people, and as soon as that woman went behind them for her photo she was making me more nervous, because the way she moved reminded me of a woman from another group who had come up behind me in the pub while I was talking to someone else, pulled my hair and told me I was going grey. I was really hoping it wasn't her in case she recognised me and invaded *my* space again. Because of that, I assume that my perception of the whole business was worse than it actually was, but from my admittedly skewed POV, it all looked really creepy. I really couldn't tell you anything about how she looked, or even whether the person with her was male or female. I saw her put her hand on James' right shoulder and fidget a bit then as she went to move away she stopped, got hold of a the back of James' hair and ran her hand down it, not quite pulling, before she walked away. One of the Pievy women said he was shaking, and something else about the woman being out of line that was apparently rather louder than she'd meant it to be, then I got distracted by a chap who was taking photos of *us* on his iPhone. Whoever the woman was she didn't hang around, so I'd assume that she was nothing to do with here *or* the Pievy. The iphone chap came up to us outside after a bit, asked what we thought of the programme and turned out to be the producer of the show, so after we talked about that for a bit, I mentioned that we'd seen the hair pulling, thought it wasn't on, and that none of us from the Pievy or here would have touched James without his permission, so hopefully that message was passed on. It was after *that* I noticed a blonde with a furry scarf and went over to ask if the group were the JMB people that I'd been meant to be with, so it looks like the people from here were a good way behind her in the queue and if James *was* bothered, he'd had plenty of time to calm down.

It wasn't anyone from here who did this, they were a further way down the queue. And yes it's not very good for public relations Thank you rnadom for clarifying this and I think some posts have been misread along the way.

That's f**king scary; pardon the French. The frightening fact is some people really have no idea of the theory of personal space and some have mental issues that cause them to lack the understanding. I don't know how much protection James would get from that... other than the bloody producer...

All it takes is one person to tar us with the nutjob brush and we're all in for a tough time. Any personal space invasion isn't at all on.
