About a million years ago, when my (now long ex) boyfriend was being taught to drive by a friend of mine (who was & still is a driving instructor), neither of them knew their right from left. I was in the back of the car, going round a square, approaching a no-entry on the left, Instructor said "Turn left" meaning turn right & boyfriend turned right thinking he was turning left!
For some reason they couldn't understand why I was creased up on the back seat!

I think they should do something with the Car Music Project. It could follow on from what they done with Top Gear of the Pops and the car drumkit they had at MPH. The CMP have just made a load of instrumrents for the new Ford Focus advert. All these are made from car parts! www.youtube.com/watch?v=2DoOwziVoMU&feature=related

Wow! That's absolutely amazing! Thanks for passing this on, I hadn't seen the ad on the TV and I sat here spellbound watching it and have immediately told other people about it too. Awesome - and an interesting piece of music too, very similar to Danse Macabre at times, I thought.
It's a shame James doesn't play the flute any more. His sensitive hair is perfect for tossing around in that way a flautist does.....
< sigh >
OMG it's the wrong time of day for these sort of images. I'll never sleep tonight now!!! ;D

It's a brilliant advert and it reminds me of Danse Macabre too

it's a lovely piece of music. I suggested to the yoofs tonight whilst they were mocking my car that they could challenge Top Gear to get me a new one

Blimey, I'd forgotten about this thread! Good to see it in use again. Regarding potential TG challenges, I can't help wondering what would happen if the TG3 were given complete control of the variable message signs on the M25 for a day. Yes, I really do mean complete control, for an entire day! Knowing those guys as we do, just think about the implications of such a situation... After all, how hard can it be?! ;D

XJ, that would be really funny. ;D
Whatever happened to the footage they supposedly shot in Queensland earlier this year, in between TG Live shows? Was that meant to be a proper TG special? That would be great to see.
I am surprised that they haven't come over here to film TG yet. How about a challenge to cross the Simpson Desert or something? Or I'm sure they could make great use of New Zealand - some lovely driving country over there!

I've always thought they could try to get a Hilux or a Rangy to the top of Ayres Rock, followed by a spin around the Olgas and then gun it up the highway, through Kakadu and on to Darwin. Lots of crocodiles, buffalo, feral pigs etc to add some interest. Once in Darwin, they could wax lyrical about the bombing raids in WWII and look at old military stuff. Time it for the cyclone season (summer) just for some more drama and physical challenge! 36 degrees celsius and 99 percent humidity, every day!

Forgotten about this thread too! MOH and I have for a few years now been trying to think of a good challenge idea for the TG3 involving something here in Qatar.... we were thinking of something along the lines of them racing each other the length or circumference of the Country (it's not that big) on three different modes of transport typical to the region... one mode would of course have to be camel ;D I would offer to be their local "fixer" obviously

Part camel, part some sort of desert vehicle and lastly a car of their own choosing! ;D Do you need a sidekick assistant? I'm available and willing! ;D

I'd like them to take a car challenge where all the marques are taken/ hidden on the car, then they are led blindfold to the car, placed inside and once the blindfold is removed they drive the car around and they have to guess what car they are driving.

I like both ideas, Afar and Liverbird! I'd like them to come to NL for a challange - not only drive through the country like Jeremy did in season 6, but to really do a challenge. Maybe they could do something incl a boat, since we have loads of waters here.. They could use our small islands. Or maybe a challange at the Europort, since that's pretty famous all over the world!

And in the unlikely event of it ever happening I'll put you down as my number one assiatant! (although you might have to fight off a few other ladies on here first!)

Boy, if James thought sitting on that white horse was tough, a camel would be a doozy of a ride!

They should get some 6 on the floor standard cheap cars and traverse route 1 up the eastern seaboard and end in Portland where I am!

he does have twitter. The last tweet was dec 9. I guess he's been hacked so there are about 4 different accounts for him. I use his Times column which I pay for because most columnists read their comments.
