I really wish they could have saved something. Maybe a corner, or one of the walls.

I really wish they could have saved something. Maybe a corner, or one of the walls. They were trying to save the Lego British flag wall, but I'm not sure how that has worked out.

Lord Voldemort was trying to cut the top left hand corner off the flag with an electric saw when I left to get my car, having rejected my offer to carefully take it apart and reassemble it. Yes, it was him who wanted it down in a hurry, as I believe he wanted to get it over and done with and go on to a more lucrative project. I shall pass on to the other builders that you have nicknamed him Voldemort - it's actually Vic the site manager - as I'm sure they'll get a chuckle out of it. Gawd but Oli has managed to look like a spaz in that photo.

Oh, and I carefully levered out the J May 09 brick, so that's been saved and - unless Voldemort nicked it - given back to Plum.

According to a message from Arlington on Facebook, the bricks are being returned to Legoland to be turned into a 'giant Lego set for the nation' which will be used for annual giant build events. They say these events will benefit charities, so I suppose this is a good thing, but it does sound like a compromise, to put it kindly, that Lego has come to after all the upset about what they would and wouldn't allow to be done with their bricks. Hmmm...

Well what I've been told by Plum today is that the lego was rented and was always going to go back to legoland. Sounds like a lot of chinese whispers have been going on.

Pan, if that's the case then I feel a little better. It was sounding to me like Lego donated the bricks and then proceeded to be passive-aggressive and obstructive about the whole project. But if the bricks were going to be returned one way or the other, that's different... and I hope Lego puts them to good use. Found more pics of the demolition: www.geeky-gadgets.com/james-mays-lego-house-gets-demolished-23-09-3009/

The date was obviously wrong and for that I apologise, I didn't get the information like everyone else did as I'm not a member of Twitter. But glad the rest of you also got the information via Twitter.
