The California series is great. I've just rewatched episode 7 on DVD and there are some truly beautiful shots of James in his dark blue shirt. You're in for a treat!

I've just found this; may have been knocking about on here but I've certainly not seen it before. It's very enlightening, and also answers the question of what kind of a drunk James is! (Happy, basically, "full of bonhomie") www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBsVQu2lcQo&feature=related

That was good.I'm like that after a couple of bottles of Zinfandel.OH call's it the stages of the 7 dwarfs with slightly different names. 1= Happy, 2= Bashful, 3= Lovey(because I love every one), 4= Dopey, 5= Grumpy, 6= Sleepy and 7= Doc for the painkillers needed in the morning.

It's not your fault Dit!! It's just Youtube (or some country's rules?) that has decided to be stupid. You couldn't know that the clip wouldn't work for us who lives in other countries!

Ah...interesting. I've tried to make a GIF of something on the vid and it says the address is wrong, but that's what comes up and I'm saving it direct from the address bar, which doesn't make sense!
I was getting to the vid by typing the name into the YouTube search and it comes up and runs OK.
So try typing this into the YouTube search
Big Winey Lunch -Oz and James's Big Wine Adventure - BBC Two

Dit posted this very cute short interview with James earlier in this thread. I think I've worked out the connection kinks (regional encoding). Enjoy. www.youtube.com/watch?v=n9GCwGzZPK8

Wow, thanks adrianmay! Think my favorite part of that interview was learning that the crew would go for the drinks as soon as they got a chance. ;D I tend to agree. I don't get hangovers too often unless it's been a particularly bad day and I hit the hard liquor. I've never gotten a hangover on wine, but I'm too nervous to buy anything much cheaper than $10 a bottle. I'm too cheap/broke to really spring for anything much more expensive, but that range is fairly safe. Good, but not so cheap you're taking a risk of getting something really bad. I think. *needs to go wine-shopping...now* *am I the only one who doesn't need a taxi? I must be coming down with something *

I'm trashed after two glasses of wine too. I'm imagining a picnic with James and one bottle of cheep plonk between us. What, oh, what will we do when we're both feeling "lively" and there's no more to drink....humm?

I must be coming down with something * Just think 'lively & imaginative' and see where that takes you... * DMC shouts as taxi roars away* I'm imagining myself feeling a lot more lively once I'm not so blastingly tired from the events of the past 2 weeks? *I fail, but gets in taxi anyways.*

I was just thinking...how do you think they got all their wine home? I can't imagine shipping is very delicate or inexpensive. I guess they probably don't care about expense but it would factor into what each bottle costs. Would it be worth it for some of those wines? What about import? How much liquor can you bring into the UK without import problems?
It's a good thing they didn't leave California with an RV full of wine. I'm sure they were warned about bootlegging. I grew up near a state line. We were always careful about buying and then driving home. Thank goodness we weren't in a dry county.

Technically, you can bring in as much wine to the UK as you like for personal use, but over a couple of litres you have to pay duty and tax on it. And yes, shipping would probably cost a fortune but there are specialist companies who can get it from country to country safely enough. Alternatively, they could have just added it to the couple of tons of luggage and equipment they were probably flying home from the shoot. Dry counties? Are there such things?
