I think so too. Otherwise I really would like to know why Twitter suggests I should follow Tom Hanks, Tom Cruise and Lance Armstrong.

They are odd aren't they, the suggestions. Here are mine Adrian Edmondson, ok. I think he's a cool guy so fair enough. But Gary Barlow? No thanks I don't even know who the woman is... Similar to James May even more bizarre... Richard Madeley and Ant and Dec. I don't mind listening to Madeley on BBCR2 Cannot cannot absolutely cannot stand Ant and Dec Pants and Feck I call them! How are they similar? ha ha

Quite a few of us are already aware of James's latest tweets...about things that tweet...
"There's a bird outside my window that sings a sort of atonal snippet of 'I'm a Barbie girl.' What is it?"
"Seriously, it sings 'I'm a Barbie girl' in a slightly pissed way. I love it. What is the real name of the Barbie bird?"
"There is also a wheelbarrow bird. Sounds like a wheelbarrow with a squeaky wheel."
"There's a Led Zepp bird and a whoopie bird as well. There don't seem to be any dotted rhythms in birdsong. Is this right ornitypes?"
"The Led Zepp bird Seemed to do the opening riff of 'Good times...' Barbie bird seems to have buggered off."
"A new bird has arrived. Sounds like a modem I had c.1995. Or an old fax."
Hehe. ;D

Just occasionally I wish I was on twitter instead of just reading it. I would have loved to have picked up on the musical references James mentioned, especially "There don't seem to be any dotted rhythms in birdsong. Is this right ornitypes?" as that's something I'd never thought about and I would love to discuss.

To be honest, I'm nervous about the idea of getting the settings wrong and not being able to limit access. I'm not on facebook for the same reason, and no matter how many times it's explained to me I don't see how it can be kept totally private. I've heard of some bad experiences from other people, which has put me off a bit.
It's a problem to me at the moment as I would like to find a way of putting my writing onto some sort of place where people can link to it but apparently that's not possible unless it's public (blog, website, LiveJournal etc), which I don't want. What I'm looking for really is some way of putting up a Word document as it stands. If anyone has any ideas, please PM me!
Edit: I think what I'm looking for is something like on photobucket where you can create an album/file and give a password so that only the people you give the password to (JMB members) can get in there, though they can't get into any of your other stuff - but there doesn't seem to be anything like that for Word documents!

I think James sounds slightly drunk right now! If he'd take pictures of those birds we could figure them out. I've got the black capped chickadees, the Maine state bird, and they're quite friendly.
Dit, if you don't want your document to be public, then chances are slim you can find anything online to meet your needs. You can try scribd.com but that's all public and filesharing as well. You can always give yourself an online alias but it's all in what you want.
I'm waiting impatiently for May-our hummingbirds will be back!

Regarding locked (private-ish) Twitters: Only people from whom you have accepted follower requests can see your tweets. This means that if you send a message/@ reply to someone who isn't following you, they won't see it...

The only downside of Twitter for me is it's addictiveness.I always check twitter before anything else and even though I know they go out to thousands of people, it's still nice to receive tweets from James.

I've got two handles on Twitter, meimichan and meimisama. The first one's the one I'm most likely to tweet from but unless you've got a strong interest in Wisconsin/USA politics(and I'm quite opinionated on both subjects, jsyk), I'd advise following the second one. Or both. Follower's choice.

I'm not worth following I never tweet and I'm dead boring.I don't think anybody needs to know if I've eaten an apple. Would be better when drunk but then I can't work the keys.

Strangely enough, none of us would be interested in what the rest of us had for dinner or what the weather was like, but if James tweeted that he'd eaten an apple, you just know there would be a discussion about it over here! ;D ;D ;D

I'm only on Twitter to snout at other people's doings (if you see what I mean). I've already changed my name twice. I have no followers, so no pressure. Some of the people I'm following tweet far too much.
Twitter veterans - is there any way to see all the replies to a tweet? I can only ever see five. You don't want to repeat someone else's reply, so that's a bit of a pain.

I have no idea, I guess you could try under "profile" to change it, but otherwise, I think it is just the way Twitter works.
I don't want to follow hundreds of people, as I like to keep things organised a bit.

Me too I wonder, by the way, why I am being followed by someone who is an expert in NLP and EFT programming? Does this mean she thinks I need it?

I've been watching the Majorca Rally Challenge repeat tonight and noticed that when James is offering to write some "simple equations" down for Madison her phone rings. Her ringtone is "Barbie Girl." Wonder if the bird he heard singing outside his window induced some flashbacks of Miss Welch?
