Thanks for making me feel so welcome, all of you! I've been busy with my avatar, but now I seem to be ready to enjoy some May on a Sunday afternoon...

Hello all! Guess I might as well introduce myself since I've been lurking behind the curtains now for few days already. I have no clue why, but I find Mr May rather...well...appealing, to say the least. I have no interest in cars (don't even have a licence) but got addicted to TG as soon as I first saw it. Have enjoyed the re-runs of Toy Stories lately with my 4 year-old son (nice excuse there ;D) and when I suddenly tumbled into this forum I had no choice - I had to jump in. I am 42, live in Funland..sorry, Finland (am I the first Finn over here?) and presently working on doctorate thesis on African American literature. This place is an excellent distraction from endless and occasionallly tidious research. Enough about me, now I'll get back to reading all the interesting stuff on this board.

Hi Grizabella, I'm from Finland too. I haven't posted on here since June though I check out the board nearly every day. You mentioned Toy Stories, have you been watching Oz and James Drink to Britain as well? Sadly, there's only one episode left next Saturday repeated on Monday... And are you aware of the airing of James May on the Moon on September 14th?! Yup, at 11.20 pm (23.20) on Yle TV1 in the Prisma series with the Finnish title Olen käynyt kuussa (I've been to the moon). That should be fun. You have the MTV3 pay channel package? We - that's my husband and I - do, and I've been waiting for the news when the Top Gear series 15 will start airing but no news about it as yet. Anyways, welcome to the board. It's nice to know I'm not the only one in this country who's succumbed to the charms of Mr May.

Welcome Grizabella Hope you will enjoy yourself here (: I have no interest in cars (don't even have a licence) but got addicted to TG as soon as I first saw it. I am with you - I find it impossible not to watch TG and, honest, I don't know anything about cars and find most of them rather boring. Well, not the few I really like and the only reason why I got my license, was because someday I would buy myself a Mini Cooper or another nice, little car and drive around in it XD

Thanks you all for welcoming me . I have indeed enjoyed the distraction, especially the picture threads , simply a bliss. Nice to know there's another Finn here too. Thanks for telling me about James on the Moon! Must make a note of it. Have only seen a few episodes of James and Oz, but I'm sure I'll get to watch the whole thing sooner or later. The "tasting" got a bit out of hand every now and then, don't you think? Well, just makes it more fun to watch. Seems to me that this board is full of very friendly people. Not that it surprises me since we all share an excellent taste in men ;D

Welcome, Grizabella, from another new member! This forum will offer you all the distraction you need from tedious research... You'll also be able to discuss why JM appeals to you, as you write that you're not sure. At first, I also wasn't sure, and I found his looks pretty unattractive (oooh, I hope I won't get banned for writing this) but thankfully my eyes have been opened to mr May's charms, mind and body.

"pretty unattractive" 100 hail May's and beg for forgiveness ;D ;D Welcome all newbies, distraction here is a given, May worship essential ;D I know, I know! And I have done my penance. But the biggest penance of all is the memory of watching the Bolivia special and not gasping at the appropriate times (i.e. the peeking, the machete, you all know what I mean, don't you?)...

Penance, indeed.. Good that I didn't have to specify, a more thorough discussion of the images I meant is best left in the naughty corner.

*waves hi to fellow fangirls*
Howdy!
I'm Holly and I'm a TG-holic. *sheepish grin*
I stumbled upon the board in my quest to quench my thirst for pictures of Jezza.
I love the show, love all 3 gents...but for some odd reason find myself inexplicably drawn to the tall one. And what's crazy is that it just hit me like a ton of bricks in the last week.
Now, I'm ashamed to admit his face (and bod) are both the wallpaper for my cell and my iPod. *blushes*
I'm an American pastry chef in my mid-thirties who enjoys many things British and outdoorsy hobbies like letterboxing and geocaching.
Glad to see us gals who adore these gearheads have a place to come and lust over them. Thanks for existing so I don't feel completely nutty.

*waves madly* Hello Holly! Welcome to the madness! ;D You'll love it here! I have always and will always be a James girl, but I can understand the JC thing. He crept up on me in a matter of days and just lingers at the back. ;D Once in a while he breaks through and you just gotta' lust! You're definitely not alone! You have all of us! ;D

Hi Holly, don't worry about JC lust, I do know what you mean. Jezza hits me now and again but then it fades whereas my lust for James is constant.

Welcome pollymatholly, I'm sure you will have a wonderful time here. Just one question, what are letterboxing and geocoaching, both are new terms to me? I don't know what letterboxing is, but geocaching is the practice of finding a specific location, or cache, with your reference point being the latitude/longitude coordinates. When you find a cache, you can take a little trinket from its contents (as I recall it's good manners to leave something in exchange) and there's usually a notebook to record who found the cache and when. I've often thought it might be fun to do, but I've never done it.

The "tasting" got a bit out of hand every now and then, don't you think? Well, just makes it more fun to watch. I just noticed that Olen käynyt kuussa will be aired on Monday the 13th at 19.00 as well, and Tuesday's airing is a repeat. Telkku.com is a good website for checking out forthcoming TV programs. I should have known the best British drink would be tea. ;D I guess tea is the same kind of source of pleasure and comfort to the British as sauna is to us Finns. What we drink after a bath in sauna is the case of "to each his own". I'm a cider gal myself so it'll always be a bottle/can of apple cider - or two, maybe three - for me. Which reminds me - what I especially enjoyed in Oz and James Drink to Britain was the trip to taste the real cider (I wish I could go to the place myself, the stuff looked so delicious), and James's little song to celebrate the singing cider. It melted my heart, absolutely. ;D

Hello fellow May lovers!!! I am 28 yrs old, female and live in Sydney Australia. Originally I didn't like Top Gear because the standing audience bothered me. But channel 9 has been playing it on tv, and I thought I would give it another shot and see what all the fuss was about... WELL! Little did I know that I shortly would have a rather large celebrity crush on Mr May! This forum is fantastic for burning images into my memory I currently work part time as an animal attendant and study Companion Animals at TAFE (college). I enjoy reading 19th century Russian literature, seeing the Symphony, spending time with my dogs and writing. My father and brother are both mechanics and I've always had an interest in cars which has blossomed recently ;D
