I shall be joining aeromanda and Afar in living vicariously through the rest of you. 3000 miles is a bit of a jaunt for a one day event. Maybe we should start the We Live Too Far Away To Go To Top Gear Live 2010 Group ;D

I need your help please ladies. Last year I bought tickets to TGL as a Christmas Pressie for MOH. He really enjoyed the day but I can't do the same thing again this year! TGL is the sort of event he'd probably only want to do every few years so I can't really say lets go again just for the hell of it because it would de-value his pressie from last year. I need a cunning and devious plan but I can't think of one. Does anybody have any ideas? Remember MOH doesn't know abut my passion for the lovely James May.
I wasn't sure whether to post this because I feel bad about asking some of you for ideas when lots of you are so far away and are unable to go so I hope you don't think I'm being selfish.

Awwww bless you BG, you sweetie pie but don't feel bad about wanting go when many of us can't go due to distance. As a "founding" member of the We Live Too Far Away To Go To Top Gear Live Group I personally want as many board members to go as possible so I can hear all about it from lots of different persepctives! As for a cunning plan to help you be able to go let me have a think! I hope you find a way

Aww! I agree with Afar! I want as many of you to go as possibly can so that we can hear all about it and see as many pics as possible. Pictures! I want pictures! How's that for selfish? ;D As for your other issue I guess you don't want to just go up to your OH and say "I happen to be obsessed with James May so I got us tickets to go see TG live again."? Not subtle enough? I'll have to think about it then.

Hey Brycegold, is there any way you would be able to buy tickets but make out you won them in a competition or something?

I agree with Aeromanda and Afar. Those of us who live in the far-flung areas of the world rely on people like you to live vicariously through. The stories you tell upon returning from such events as well as photos and chance meetings are what we want to see and hear about. Do you have a healthy interest in cars, they way they work, designs and such? You could mention to your OH that you'd be interested in seeing the cars, cars you may not be able to see in every day life. Or start an interest. "Fact-finding mission my dear husband! We must go!" ;D Good luck! ;D ;D

I like the "I won them in a competition" option. It's a bit like the "Oh, it's been in the back of the wardrobe for years" ploy. He won't be able to disprove it so won't bother arguing.
You could even go so far as "I won them in a competition dear, I don't imagine you'll want to go again, so I thought about taking [inset sympathetic female friend/relative's name here].) Then he's got a choice of going with you so he doesn't look like a meanie or letting you go with another female and leave him at home!

Like the idea of winning a competition, thank you. You also make a very good point Nobody, maybe I'll just pick a good time to ask him outright. After all, "how hard can it be" ?!!

MPH/TGL have sent me the first podcast for the 2010 Live and it won't open! I keep getting a 404!
This is the important bit of the e-mail, though:
Top Gear Live - The Prototype Tour For weeks The Stig has been chucking rocks at mechanics as they desperately weld giant bits of steel together, creating what we hope will be a truly ground breaking stunt, and not simply a mock-Tudor conservatory for James May. Eager not to miss out on the fun, Clarkson, Hammond and May have been equally hard at work creating a few theatrical masterpieces of their own. Predictably, details from the boys are slim but we're pretty sure it won't involve a trapeze act or juggling. unless Jeremy can attach a V8 to a swing.
