Still bouncing ;D just had call from friend who has included me for her posse to the birmingham show too - how spoilt am I ;D Earls court 5pm sunday ;D me, my daughter and my sis... who says she'll bring a mop for the drool - not sure what she is implying with that comment  |

Got mine too... eventually! After 40 mins of getting no further than the third step in the process when the system crashed (appropriate for Top Gear), I had to hand over booking duties to Sis (I was in work)...  But we got there in the end! *starts counting... 161 days* ;D |

Is anyone going to Birmingham NEC?
For that last 2 years I've booked with a good firm that makes things easy (you drive yourself to Birmingham, they put you in a nice hotel, give you dinner, bus you too and from the NEC the next day then you drive yourself home) and I'm just waiting for their info to pop into my inbox.
But...the last 2 years I've managed to drag people along who weren't really interested. I still have one or two friends who might be kind enough to accompany me, but this year I'm seriously considering coming on my own. I don't mind doing the travelling/hotel bit solo, and there's always the classic car bit to look at to occupy me, but it'd be nice to have someone to chat to during the day.
Will anyone be there?

I'm at the NEC on the Saturday Dit and I'm think some others will be to. I'm there for my birthday with two friends who I have dragged along. We will be doing lots of browsing and chatting if you need some company  |

Dit - i was going with some friends but i have given my ticket to someone who desperately wanted to go and as i am going to earls court.... but anyway i have a nice bonus this month a nd was planning to treat my self... so if you would like some company let me know (via pm) and i'll go ahead and by myself a ticket! Whats this deal you get with hotel etc?  |

I'm in the same situation, hoping to drag a friend along but she's not interested in cars or top gear particularly (shocking I know!) will be at the NEC saturday, have booked hotel etc but willing to meet up with others on the day.

These guys need to make an American tour. Probably never will though. Don't think they like us much, but we like them. Judged our whole country over Alabama and Louisiana which is not a good comparison.

Jacqui, will PM you about the hotel deal but basically it's as I described at few posts ago. You still have to drive to Birmingham but you don't have the hassle of getting yourself to the NEC and parking there as the coach drops you off and picks you up.
That weekend is my birthday, the Sunday actually (14th) but I'd be happy to go either on the Saturday or the Sunday. If we were going to make a go of this, who might we get?
Saturday - honilia, mayniac + others? + (jacqui? me?)
Sunday - ? + jacqui? me?
(did that make sense?)
I can feel the possibility of a very silly plan here.

I have stayed at the crown plaza before for a conference i had to attend nice hotel right on top of the NEC.
I really fancy making a weekend of this ;D

Ohh this is exciting meeting so many folks at my B'day trip  I don't stay in a hotel as my folks live close to the NEC so can't offer any advice there. Aww Afar wish you could come over too  |

Best thing I saw was the "Welcome to Florida" or Texas signs. Couldn't pay me to go back to New Orleans. Cannot believe they have not fixed that city. Top Gear needed to show that. People there will do anything to rip you off like the atty tired with Jeremy. I speak from experience. Scenery on I-65 interstate which run north to south in Alabama is really pretty drive and road is good and flat. Huntsville Alabama is a really nice town not far from Tennessee, but I guess where the boys went was off I-10 down south part of Alabama. There are so many beautiful drives in the states. They should drive over the Smoky Mountains in Tenn that runs to North Carolina. Awesome drive and way up. They need to find a slow challenge though since you have to drive pretty slow, but the roads are great. I am still waiting for James and Oz to continue their adventures, but come back here and do a bourbon run. There is so much Whiskey made in Tennessee and Kentucky and they have a bourbon walk in KY that you have to drive. They could hit Churchill Downs (better invite me) and Indy 500 up the road. They could do the same thing in Europe and compare the Whiskey, but they hit a few in their Britain Beer show. |
