The iplayer isn't available in the US so my husband subscribed me to a proxy server (don't ask me to explain that non techies cause I don't exactly understand it myself) that allows me to connect to it and then to the iplayer! I have been thinking about that myself. I normally hunt for free proxy's, but they are cr*p and generally not good enough to stream video. But I guess it's a bit exaggerated. I can watch BBC1&2 here in Amsterdam, so it would only be for the content on the websites. Luckily, there are a lot of nice young men over on Final Gear, who know how to rip the videos on the BBC website. ;D

Sounds like a great episode: Outnumbered star Hugh Dennis takes on a wallpapering challenge, the Man Lab orchestra prepares for its debut concert at famous London church St Martin-in-the-Fields, and the experts build their own cinema, complete with popcorn and a Wurlitzer organ. The team also constructs a sky rocket, two men settle a 25-year-old quarrel by duelling with sabres, and James uses modern technology to help a man on a first date.Link to Radio Times websiteI wonder if James will chide Hugh Dennis for stealing Oz away from him. ;D

This is on as the same time has Garrow's law,but because this is the last one and a I suspect James is going to be so happy conducting a Orchestra, James wins.

Tonights episode was superb. I thought the organ on the forklift was ingenious (and bloody funny) but then I had to rewind my Sky + to watch the last 15 minutes or so again as I couldn’t see through my tears of laughter from the ‘Date advice’, that was the best piece of television I have seen for years. Dougal (Donal) was a star and saved the day! But the joy on James’ face and the end of his recital was plain for all to see. After a dubious start this series really grew week by week, I’m sure if it is re-commissioned it will come back all guns blazing. Well done to all involved. PS when is it out on DVD?! PPS Loving the new specs

Great show. It had me laughing out loud several times.
It was especially good to see that the audience at St Martin's could take First Graders orchestra for what it was and that they gave them a standing ovation. Reminds me that somewhere I've got a recorder...
I sincerely hope the BBC will commission another run. Otherwise poor Oz will be stranded on that beach for eternity. ;D

I didn't catch Man Lab last week because I wasn't back from MPH, and then I came up to Birmingham. However, this evening, because I am in a hotel, I had time to get back to base and watch it. It was absolutely fantastic! I have done a lot of laughing this weekend, but that was hilarious, inspired and inspiring at the same time. I am looking forward to catching up on last week's when I get home.

Well, he might want a razor at some point. ;D Oz at the beach was just one of the countless little jokes. You could watch the programme a dozen times and you'd still miss some.

Bloody brilliant episode. I can't help thinking that only James May could get away with wearing a tail coat over a casual shirt! ;D Nice to hear one of my favourite Shakespeare speeches getting an appropriately modified airing as well. I enjoyed the dating segment. Frankly, I could do with someone giving me advice through an earpiece when I go on a date. Maybe then I might stand a chance of getting it right! Best analogy of the series: wasps being 'the Inland Revenue of insects'. How very true! Also, I really want a radio controlled fly catcher - just think of the fun that could be had with it! ;D All in all, a hugely entertaining series, with tongue planted very firmly in cheek throughout, and I hope another one is commissioned sometime. Nice one, James!

I also loved this episode. I thought the bit with the dating advice was great. I loved the looks on their faces when she told him (them) she had a boyfriend. And I thought the film James made was hilarious. I did at first wonder exactly what type of film he was making; I was waiting for the cheesy 70's disco to start. All in all I think that it was a really good beginning for the show and I hope that they get picked up to do another series!

This was probably the best one out of the series and each one got better as he checked on his reviews and feedback. The structure got better, even though it did seem that it was cluttered this week, but it didn't felt like it. I felt really good after watching that.

Such a great episode tonight - I'm actually gutted it's over (for now)! Did the whole film-making bit remind anyone of Jeremy chiding James for his idea of making a naughty film but making it about someone who comes over to actually fix someone's boiler? I couldn't help but remember that and giggle the whole time! (Also, that cap of his looked hilarious on him.)
There were so many bits I loved - but the best for me was seeing how genuinely elated James was at the very end. He was extremely flushed and so happy! *flaily hands* I really hope there's another series. It seems they just hit their stride by the end and I will be thrilled if they can give it another go. Come on, BBC!

Are they going to put it out on DVD?
Each week is better than the last, I hope it gets a second season. The dating segment was hilarious (and cringeworthy). The orchestra part was very sweet, I'm glad it was a success.

I don't think it will appear on dvd as it was just a pilot run. Keep the programmes safe on your computer!

I'm guessing that, for those of us brought up on patronising Public Information films in the UK, it was possible to see straight away what he would do in that segment to turn it on its head!
Loved the whole series, particularly the second episode, though I agree that the dating section and orchestra were exceptional this week. Anyone remember "Hitchhiker's Guide", with Marvin the android with a "brain the size of a small planet"? I often link that phrase to James. Amazing man.

I was wondering about that as well. Anyway, there needs to be another series so that Oz can be rescued from the beach! On the previous page of this thread, I posted a couple of links to reviews of Man Lab on someone's blog. The review of the third episode is now up and, like the first two, it is comprehensive and positive. scurvytoon.blogspot.com/2010/11/james-mays-man-lab-drink-tea-sort.html

Very good again last night. I liked the section on how to woo a lady. Did you see how much wine they had in the back of that van?! Very funny. The orchestra bit was good too. I'd have liked to have seen more of that. James knows how to dismantle a saxophone! Is there anything he can't do,err, except hang wallpaper? . More please and next time BBC, don't schedule it in the same slot as Downton Abbey or I'maceleb please.
