Buzz on twitter. James is apparently the new face of London Pride. And no, not of the gay movement, much as Jezza and Richard would want us to believe, but of the beer. twitter.com/MelissaColetwitter.com/barmagazineI find it a bit weird. I wouldn't think the BBC would allow a presenter of a car show to promote a alcoholic drink. Besides, it's more Richard's thing to do this kind of commercial stuff.

Interesting. MOH loves Fullers! ;D
What kind of rules does the BBC have for their presenters and product promotions? I know they like to be impartial.

What kind of rules does the BBC have for their presenters and product promotions? I know they like to be impartial. James, Richard and Jezza are freelancers, so can do more or less what they like. It's just the combination of alcohol and a car programme that I fear will be frowned upon. Just watch the Daily Fail.

past it or through it Wonder if he filmed them at his local ;D Funnily enough, I know someone who works for Fullers (the brewery that makes London Pride), and the pub James mentions is his local in some of his columns is a Fuller's pub. Nice to see a famous person endorsing something they actually like! While I get the concern about the presenter of a car programme promoting alcohol, let's not forget that James has also been the presenter of a programme about alcohol, and the most recent of those spent a lot of time looking at beer. It shouldn't be a problem really, and if the Fail et al decide to have a whinge about it, I shall just polish up my 'Hated By The Daily Mail' badge and blow a raspberry at them.

All the best pubs are Fullers, but then i'm biased my Dad ran the Mawson Arms in Chiswick back in the fifties, the pub was part of a building with in which Alexander Pope the poet lived ... not at the same time as my Dad i hasten to add ;D

It's where they start the tours. Really must get around to doing one of those. Mind you, they should have given me the job really. I'd have done it for nothing - London Pride is one of my two favourite ales ever!

The problem will be if the ads are nationwide. Pride doesn't travel well, sadly. It's *OK* in Oxford, but only just - it must be 'orrible, relatively, by the time it gets oop nooorth. Like Guinness is better in Dublin, Pride really does need to be enjoyed in Chiswick! Good coup for James though - always good to see people endorsing things they actually LIKE rather than things they're paid to pretend to like.

I've once said I would stop fancying him once he started doing commercials for supermarket chains and telecom providers. But I guess he really endorses the product in this case. Hopefully the ads won't be too cringworthy. (I'm looking at you Hammond.)

Because, let's be honest here, I shouldn't think that they do.

Oh yes, I am really that stupid. I really do believe James spends every spare minute on this board checking out what we have been posting and last night has been crying himself to sleep over my remark. Obviously, not after texting Richard about my concerns.

Another article with some more info about the commercials and rest of the campaign. link!In the TV campaign, May steps out of the house and walks to his local pub. Appearing to have pre-empted May’s arrival, the barman places a pint of London Pride in front of him. May says to camera:" This is the one thing I’ll walk somewhere for." The camera cuts to a close-up of a pint of London Pride on the bar. May is then heard to say in the background: "I think I’ve got a blister." ;D Funny and a very clever way to stress that James is not driving.
