Sorry, I've just realised that pic was rather big. It doesn't seem to have displaced the page so I won't downsize it, but I'll bear it in mind for future reference!

Ya know, in the really big picture on this page he's wearing an MTV Beavis and Butthead shirt. I didn't really think that kind of humor would appeal to him. Dunno why I just found that surprising.

Nice bikes-I did tweet James and ask him if he'd tweet a pic of his BMW-if it is what I think it is, it's only a year younger than my father's.(BMW R100/7 1977).

I watched 20th Century last night and saw the teenager 2 stroke moped and his disappointment at not being able to go 80 mph. Also liked in the neon section his bell bottom pants and viewing one of Jeremy's books in the store window.

Cockney, have you got a time machine? If not, how did you manage to go back to 1974? (See replies #13 and #15!) This must be one of his own bikes, as the numberplate's been obscured. It looks to be a bit of a beast. This makes me smile; I think it was Clarkson who passed a comment about James' position when riding his bike - was it 'perpendicular'?

Good eye, Dit! I haven't got a clue what happened there but I can say that 1974 was a great year for me! That is so funny, I hadn't even noticed. I've checked my quote and I somehow deleted one of the numbers from the "time posted" bit in the quote causing the date to change. We could have a bit of fun with this... Good eye, Dit! I haven't got a clue what happened there but I can say that 1974 was a great year for me! That's as far back as we can go. ;D

In the WA in California he was right at home on the one he rented. I seem to remember him saying they were great for desert highways in California, but he'd look a right pillock riding one through Hammersmith. My brother had one. James is absolutely correct.

When I was in the Uk couple months ago I saw small groups on the freeways and on the back country roads.
