Since James is such a fan of real ales and of course the spokesman for Fuller's, I thought a thread dedicated to beer/ale and its many derivatives would be a good idea! ;D

YAY!!! Thanks DMC!! Hopefully there are tons of beer fans out there. We can find out how to get obsure beers delivered to our doorstep [lol], swap recipes for home brew if anyone is so inclined to try that, and just talk about our favorites [which we already did but hey I'm up for a repeat].
Nice photo to bring along, meimichan ;D

meimichan: I can get Fuller's ESB at Wegmans [do you have a wegmans in your state?] I'm still looking for the London Porter (according to the website its sold in America). If I find London Pride here I will let you know.

Now, has anyone ever had "ginger" beer? I heard James talking about it. Sounds good. Never see it anywhere.

Now, has anyone ever had "ginger" beer? I heard James talking about it. Sounds good. Never see it anywhere. YES. I picked up a bottle a month or two ago at the Asian grocery store across the street from my apartment, it is REALLY REALLY GOOD. It's not alcoholic, but it is tasty. As for that grocery chain you mentioned...no, we don't have them here. We've got Woodman's, Copps, and HyVee, plus a fair amount of local places that aren't part of a chain. I live in a city that prides itself on staying unique and weird. The crappy weather's just part of the charm.

What a wonderful idea for a thread! Thanks DMC! snowsunflower, the Wegman's in Collegeville usually has Fuller's ESB, London Porter, and London Pride. Usually on the very bottom shelf of the UK isle on the left (as you're facing the cooler). Not that I go there and buy it enough to have its location memorized. The London Pride is still my favorite after having tried all three. I love a good flavorful malty beer! I've been dieting for what seems like forever, and have had to limit my beer intake. I do still indulge a little, however. One of my very favorite beers is from a local microbrewery and restaurant called The Sly Fox. They have a bitter called Jake's ESB. It is excellent. Their Chester County Bitter is pretty tasty as well. Not that that information will help out any of you in your quest for tasty beers. Unless you come to SE Pennsylvania for a visit and then I'll be happy to show you around and take you to the pub!

Definitely have to do a Fullers taste test this weekend!!! aeromanda - have you ever tried Victory beer? victorybeer.com/beers/

Yes I have. Their Hop Devil is a little strong in the hop department for my liking but I did like their Golden Monkey. There was another of theirs that I like but I can't remember it off of the top of my head.
One of my favorite ales (which I just thought of because, conveniently, Wegman's carries it) is a Belgian Pale Ale called Delirium Tremens. The bottle is cool. It is painted and looks like ceramic. The label is blue and has pink elephants on it. It is not cheap but it is worth it. It has a light yet flavorful taste.

If I had to pick between "Crabbies" and "Horny Goat"....the goat wins hands down! Yes I have. Love Golden Monkey [so much I got a t-shirt]. I'll have to try Delirium Tremens.

I love Rouge beer, it's from Oregon (I think). They have a massive range that I have been trying to work my way through (I can only afford to buy 2 bottles at a time). My favourite so far is the brutal IPA. The packaging is cool too

I don't normally like beer me neither - I am a spirits sort of man (Irish whiskey for me please) or cider (again, Irish is my current favourite! Magners anyone?) ;D

Must admit I prefer cider if I'm having a long drink, though I like the odd beer occasionally. Lancaster Blonde is a lovely beer.
I much prefer wine, mainly white with the occasional red, just for a change. One thing I am fussy about is temperature. Red definitely has to be room temperature if not a little warmer, white can be very lightly chilled but no more than ten minutes or so - I like to be able to taste what I'm drinking! If white wine in a restaurant is brought in an ice bucket I always ask for it to be left out once the first glass has been poured.
Unfortunately I find that spirits don't get on as well with me as I get older; probably my liver's already pickled! I'm partial to a glass (or two) of Glayva, though.

I used to be able to drink anyone under the table, so now I have to watch it. Don't know if my liver is pickled yet, but my metabolism definitely won't let me over do it. Well, the last time I drank too much, was the day of my dad's burial. In an attempt to forget what the day was, I drank lemon shots after it was all over with my girlfriends. I just wanted to forget. Thankfully my girlfriends were there to hold my hair back. I puked my soul up that day, took a long time to put it back. I refuse to do that to myself ever again.

I've never liked beer, though I used to drink it when I was a college because it was cheaper. I've only really started to like wine in the last couple of years, since the Wine Adventures, but I find that any more than a couple of glasses upsets my tummy in ways I shall not mention on here.
Give me any vodka (except for Absolut), Archers or Baileys and I can drink it until the cows come home!

I enjoy a wheat beer from time to time. Wine is the usual tipple - Mr Crumbs is dead keen and has been for years: he's got a few bottles stashed away. I also enjoy whisky (single malt not an Islay).
But the drink that I'll get pi**ed on is bacardi and coke - on a girly night out! I do so enjoy a cocktail too...... Hmmm I'm beginning to sound like a bit of a dipso aren't I? I'm not really.....

Since we all have varied tastes, I renamed the thread to encompass the whole genre of drinks! ;D ;D I do love wine, even before James & Oz went on their adventures. MOH taught me how to distinguish different tastes in wine and to be a bit of a snob/ponce too. My cocktail of choice would have to be a margarita! Almost any flavor! ;D ;D

I started drinking wine about two months ago. So I really don't know much about it other than I tend to prefer whites to reds, except pinot noir is tasty. Think I needed something to balance out my beer tooth.
