Ive never tried mead, because when I was capable of buyings loads on a fantasy event, I didnt drink alcohol..! If you think it's too sweet, Antonia, take the dry one! Hmm, I may order or bottle or two soon... ;D

We spent the day at a meadary(?) when we where visiting my mum in the summer. Very nice but very sweet. They also had a stock of blackberry wine,we had some of that with our christmas lunch. Mead is tasty. I think blackberry wine is a freaking staple of the wineries in Wisconsin. You'd think I'd have tried some by now.

The Beer Prayer
Our lager Which art in barrels Hallowed be thy drink Thy will be drunk (I will be drunk) At home as if in tavern Give us this day our foamy head And forgive us our spillages As we forgive those who spill against us And lead us not in to incarceration But deliver us from hangovers For thine is the beer, the bitter and the lager Forever and ever Barmen

Personally I love the stuff, but then I like sweet things. I didn't know it was made outside Britain though, I'm glad it is!

Here meaning in south central Wisconsin. Plus my parents used to make their own when I was a kid. They haven't done that in years though. I had a few glasses at a party on New Year's Eve, it's very tasty stuff.

Just discovered this thread. Another plus for the JMB. Does anyone have a good recipe for sour mix? When I was in college, the local bars used to have "Sour hour" from 4-6 pm. Whiskey sours, amaretto sours, etc, etc for 25 cents. I got addicted. And do any of you white wine aficionados like Vouvray? I've also become addicted to that. It's a not-too-dry white wine, usually from France, about $12-15/bottle. Good for general sipping, although I don't usually drink it with meals.

I'm chilling while I'm having a large glass of red. A Tempranillo Grand Reserva 2004 (that means nowt to me btw) it's not two dry and is quite fruity.
Good bottle of plonk and only a fiver.

Back to Vouvray; it's a little village in the Touraine (Loire Valley) and it's filled with small wineries. If you look hard, find a good "Vouvray Doux", which is a sweet dessert wine. It will amaze you!
Since it's summer, I'm into a good rosé. Anyone recommend a good one? Preferably from the south of France?

If you like beer I really can recommend a beer called Eriksberg. It's a Swedish beer brewed in Gothenburg.

For some reason, I'm kind of intrigued by that beer milkshake. I went to a bar/restaurant once that served "beer floats" for desert...some kind of stout with ice cream in it. Surprisingly tasty!
My current boozy obsession? RumChata. It's kind of hard to come by in some places...I think it's made in Wisconsin so it can be a bit tough to find outside of the US midwest. But if you find it, it will change your life. It's a boozified version of horchata, and it tastes like the milk in a bowl of cinnamon toast crunch.
