I haven't had a decent cocktail in awhile antonia, I seem to be nurturing my new wine addiction, but I'm fond of margaritas, tequila sunrises, and strawberry daiquiris. And mojitos. I did have this one awesome drink called a Funky Comedina at a dive bar in my old college town but they make it differently than any recipe I've ever found online. It involves club soda, raspberry liquor, vodka, Squirt...and some other stuff? Okay, that was probably less than helpful. I think I was drunk when I watched them make it last time and I can't find the piece of paper I wrote the ingredients on. But it's really tasty!

Now, has anyone ever had "ginger" beer? I heard James talking about it. Sounds good. Never see it anywhere. I totally LOVE ginger, so I'd love to taste this.. never seen it anywhere though.

I have discovered the most wonderful thing! Cotton Candy flavored vodka! I had to get a bottle of it to see if it really tastes like cotton candy and it does! I drink it mixed with a bit of seltzer. It is the little things in life, like Cotton Candy flavored vodka, that make it all worth while!

Good lord, just found out ginger ale isn't ale actually, as in: it doesn't contain any alcohol!!! REALLY SHOULD GET IT (I don't want to drink alcohol anymore).... But where?!

Strawberry coconut rum daiquiri.
Finally got some use out of all those frozen strawberries, but I may have killed my blender.
Oh it's delicious. A big frosty ice-cold drink. Loaded with rum.

I need to buy some wine. I suppose want to buy wine would be a better thing to say, but this week has quite possibly the roller coaster from hades, and I ran out of beer and wine a few days ago. Not sure what to get. Thinking of trying some rose wines. Not white zinfandel. Although I suppose I could do the usual and just go to the store and see what looks good.

It is said, don't judge a book by its cover. I wonder if that applies to wine and labels? Who knows? I know I've bought wine because I like the label or the name of the vineyard or winery. ;D
Go with what looks good. Super finds that way! ;D

Super finds that way! ;D I've got my price limits and I more or less know what I like and don't like, I'm nowhere near the wine ponce level of James and Oz, but I know enough to not walk out of the store with really crappy wine. Gonna go try out a store in town I haven't been in before. ETA: Came home with a Cotes du Rhone and a Wisconsin rose. Think I'll try the local one first. Gotta help the local economy, what with it tanking something fierce. WINE! ;D As a bonus, the grocery store was serving wine samples. We could choose between chianti and pinot grigio. I've had pinot grigio before, so I tried the chianti. MOH and I both had a similar reaction to the chianti("That was fairly bland and tasteless" but I suppose it's more than likely there's more drinkable chianti out there), so me quoting "It's chianti, you don't want that." and a few more lines from that scene from Man Lab got MOH doubled over laughing for a minute. Yes James, you were right. We don't want that.

Yes James, you were right. We don't want that. Yuck, well you certainly don't want THAT Chianti. Chianti should be very flavorful and kinda dry and acidic. At least I think so. When I was a poor and penniless college student, we'd all put our money in and make cheep spaghetti dinner from jarred sauce and then spring for Chianti that cost more than dinner. Priorities.

I was just in our local Dan Murphy's which has alcohol from all over the world and I found this and it made me think of James so I bought a bottle I hope one day they stock the Fuller's brands especially London Pride, there is a beer importer in Perth that has it for $9.00 for a bottle plus postage but I cant justify spending that for a bottle of beer.

Drinking the last of my Blushing Rose bottle of wine from Wollersheim Winery. It's about 45 miles away from here.
I am a wee bit drunk. And online. This can only end well. Right?

A fantastic glass of syrah. Well I had one at the uhh....wine shop that masquerades as a coffee shop(welcome to Wisconsin ). I had to leave before I bought a bottle, drunk it, and then I'd have never gotten home. I really want another glass. But I should probably eat something instead.

Generally, Zin has a higher alcohol content, is bitey, and isn't too expensive. Party in a bottle.

I want to start drinking again so I need some opinions on wine. I do not like sweet wines. Dry is the key word. Thanks for any suggestions.

I'm rather partial to the Ravenswood winery at the moment. I haven't tried everything they make, but I've never been disappointed in anything I've had! ;D

<---same here. Does it technically need to be after 12p before you start? It's after 12pm here. Plus whenever I worked nights, I figured out how stupid that appropriate time for a drink thing really was. I've done some of my heaviest drinking at 7am, which was when I'd get home from really crappy "days" at work.

<---same here. Does it technically need to be after 12p before you start? Yes, of course. You can't buck the tradition of waiting until the sun is over the yardarm. My current phrase is you can't have a drink until the children are in bed with their homework done and the laundry finished. Sigh. The hours my bar is open are very limited.
