I've got my passport and am ready to travel! Now, if I had money Can you fly direct LA to London? Hell, I'll even go the other way 'round the globe if I have to. I keep hoping they'll come do something with TG US. They film in an old blimp hanger on a decommissioned Marine base 10 minutes from my house. Please boys, come see me! I doubt it, you'd probably have to switch at NYC. And you wouldn't fly the other way around the world-goes against the jet stream, much quicker/easier to fly east. (I'm tired and apparently really nerdy late at night. Oh who am I kidding. I'm nerdy all hours of the day.) Flying direct from LA to London couldn't be simpler! The route takes you north over Canada and Greenland before heading back south and entering Britain via Scotland. It's not all that expensive either, because it's a well-used tourist route. See you when you get here

Quote from James on series 17
James May revealed that the new series, which will air at 8pm on BBC Two and BBC HD, promises "some proper demolition" and "some actual racing".
The presenter explained on the Top Gear site: "Well, there's some affordable performance cars, some electric cars, some actual racing, some proper demolition, some silly cars, and Top Gear's attempt to improve public transport, which I think is going to be absolutely brilliant."
May also spoke of his excitement at a Formula 1 challenge due to appear on the new series.
"Did you see some of the clips on the Formula 1 last Sunday of us in the hot hatches going round the Monaco Grand Prix Circuit? That's part of the new series, and that was great, very intimidating," he declared.
"I'm not very good at driving around tracks anyway, and if you get it wrong there you have a crash. I used to watch F1 a lot years ago and it felt really special for us to be allowed to go round it. That will be a good film."

Re: the attempt to improve public transport - I think I have stumbled upon what they're up to, the mad fools! They were filming in Rothley, Leicestershire, apparently. According to @chloe_kinton on Twitter She also posted a photo to prove it... And here's one of the boys off duty... Apparently Jeremy fell off a bench at one point, but I don't think that was part of the programme...

^^^ What on earth is James doing? Looks like he is standing guard of the other two.
Nice pic - must liberate the one of the caravan and send it to my sister who is a tin tent nerd!

Thanks for those - I'd picked up that they were in Rothley with caravans but hadn't got any other details. Looks thoroughly silly - well done lads, keep it up!

Pics look extremely interesting. Cannot wait to get to see this...somehow.. Have to wonder where they get all these ideas from? Just have to admire people with such imagination and ability to turn the most crackpot ideas into reality.

Maybe the caravans will be crashed into by trains while they are on fire. Or maybe they will be crashed into by trains and then explode. The possibilities are just endless!

Just saw this on my Twitter feed from the Radio Times:
Top Gear
Sunday 26 June 8:00pm - 9:00pm BBC2
1/6, series 17
Jeremy Clarkson celebrates the 50th birthday of the Jaguar E-type by driving a modern-day interpretation of this sports classic, and throwing a typically low-key party involving live music, classic fighter planes and the Royal Marines. Richard Hammond is in South Africa, where he tests a bigger, more rugged alternative to the Hummer, and James May enlists the help of Olympic athlete Amy Williams to try out the latest Mini rally car. Plus, the Stig takes the BMW 1-series M around the test track and another celebrity gets behind the wheel of the Reasonably Priced Car.
;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

Great preview article in this month's TG magazine. As well as the bits we already know about, they've also mentioned tests of the McLaren MP4-12C and the BMW 1-Series M, Nissan GT-R vs Jaguar XKR-S, James racing Amy Williams and her skeleton bob, James powertesting the Aston Martin Virage, the boys- with military equipment - in a race against a demolition team to knock down a row of houses (how did they keep that quiet?), James taking the new baby Range Rover, the Evoque, to somewhere really harsh (they aren't giving away where) and - and I suspect this might require tissues - Richard meeting an incredible rally team made up of British military veterans who've all lost at least one limb in the line of duty who are taking on the challenge of Dakar.
Really does sound like they've pulled out the stops!

I heard through the grapevine that they were going to be in the area, I just didn't know where. A friend tipped me off who lives nearer that she had seen a load of blacked out Range Rovers and a couple of other saloons going into the station so I grabbed my camera and snapped a couple of pictures. Sadly didn't get to meet any of them but did get waves off Hammond and May when they were getting into the car/caravan/train lol. Camera crew were very polite. James driving the Audi (wish you could see him) The classic TG toilet stuck on the back of things lol and finally, can you see Clarkson?! (holding a bag, wearing blue jeans and black leather jacket lol)
