Need to bring this over here! ;D I took a daytrip to Madison(city I lived in until very recently) to visit with some friends and just mess around for the day. They got to town later than I did. So I went down to a pier on the south side of Lake Monona and did this. IT WAS SO FREAKING WINDY. While my tripod would have been helpful when shooting for a panorama, I'm glad I didn't have it. With my luck the wind would have blown my camera into the lake. And then I wondered why I never did this when I actually lived in the city, and the answer is probably I was too busy with real life. It is a bit different going for visits when the goal is to have fun and screw around rather than being there every day and usually when I have free time from work I'd rather just crawl into bed with a book or something. MOH and I have taken off the first week of September. Not sure if we're going to be able to really travel anywhere, but we've not had this amount of time off in YEARS. We just need a break. (there DMC, you happy now? )

Thanks for the compliments everyone. Think we're going to head for the northwoods and Lake Superior for our vacation. I told some local friends I wanted to take pictures of waterfalls and they have all told me where to go. Before I do that, I have got to get this camera cleaned. It's hard to tell from that picture up there, thank goodness, but I've got dust spots ruining every fricking outdoor shot I take.

Well i've done it - finally! I have booked my *ahem* 50th birthday holiday for next April! Was adamant i wasn't going to spend my birthday sat behind my bl00dy desk! Didn't quite go as planned my first, second and third choices weren't available so it was back to the drawing board. As i can't move my birthday, i had to see what was available. After two hours of deliberating and conjugating I am off to...................... drum roll............................ Fuerteventura/Jandia - I have been there before about 8 years ago and i am returning to the same Hotel but it has been completely revamped and is aimed at adults - no offense to those who have kids - 5 star, on the beach, all i need to do now is pray for sunshine! ;D Roll on April 2013 ;D

Wow, Canary Islands (had to look it up). I've never been there. You pick such cool and exotic locations for your vacations. You must be a good traveler. Is the girl staying home or coming with?

It s a beautiful place, can't wait! Daughter is coming with, three of us, with my sister. So Puss will have to have her own holiday in a lovely cattery.... somewhere... no doubt that will take longer to book/find than my holiday did

Congrats on your plans, jacqui! Sounds fabulous. Surely you won't have to pray for sunshine there - isn't it good nearly all the time? How long are you staying for?

Hope you have a lovely holiday jacqui. My next jaunt could be ruined if the weather turns, we're starting off in the Lake District, then up to the west coast of Scotland, finally down the Yorkshire coast, before heading home.

What a great vacation! I've always wanted to go the Canary Islands, specifically to see Loro Parque in Tenerife.

Once I have all my pics uploaded and sorted, I'll put a link in here. But for now, I thought you might like to see my Stig pics. These people came to the Top Gear panel dressed as our favorite racing driver! Before & After ;D And we had a Lady Stig as well

I've finally got my photos uploaded! ;D I've not had time to go through them and write captions and stuff like that, but at least they are there! The password is dragon. s805.photobucket.com/albums/yy339/forestcat04/Dragoncon%202012/It was an amazing five days! I hope I get the chance to go again next year. Highlights of the trip: Seeing Richard Dean Anderson's panel, the fantastic costumes (as always) and riding in an elevator and a having a nice conversation with Richard Hatch. He was always my favorite on Battlestar Gallactica. ;D ;D We also got the chance to go to a local dinner theatre. I'm working on a blog about that now. It was the most marvelous night out I've had in a long time! ;D ;D

MOH and I just got back from a camping trip in northwestern Wisconsin, with a bonus day trip to Duluth MN. Had a great time even if we did get a bit cold and soggy-it started raining on Thursday and never really did get warm enough to dry anything out. Pictures to follow after I've caught up on sleep and real life. In the meantime, think I'm gonna go browse DMC's photobucket.

DMC- Looks like all genres of weirdness and wonderfulness were equally represented. I like the architecture of the hotel too. I see you got all gussied up this year. What did you say to Richard Hatch besides "hello" of course?
Oh and nice to know the Christian protesters were concerned for everyone's eternal souls. Gotta love the south.

What did you say to Richard Hatch besides "hello" of course? Oh and nice to know the Christian protesters were concerned for everyone's eternal souls. Gotta love the south. The protesters come every year with the same signs. However this year, they added a bull horn near the end of the parade. They're praying for our souls and salvation. I know I feel more secure now. Guess they didn't notice the Christian fan contingent marching in the parade. Yes, I took my costume this year. Rather hot, but it worked out. My friend and I got off on the same floor as Richard Hatch. He was running his hand along the railing to the balcony when he hit an almost hidden beer bottle. He managed to catch it before it tumbled though the lattice work and dropped down 47 floors. I cannot imagine the damage that would have done had it gone over. Then he told us about someone climbing onto the lattice work the night before and dropping down to the lattice work on the balcony below. We talked about the fact we couldn't believe he didn't fall to his death as well as the death of anyone he fell on. That explained the alarm bells we heard the night before. My friend said it was nice to see him at the con this year. He thanked us and said it was nice to see us too. A very pleasant man. Even though there was a ton and a half people there, I hope I get the chance to go back. ;D Hope you've finally dried out, Meim! ;D Can't wait for the pics!

I've not seen that one, and Jamie's name doesn't ring a bell. Of course, I'm not that great with actors' names anyway. They had a contingent there from the new show. They did a panel with them in one of the ballrooms. I watched some of it on Dragon*Con tv in the hotel room. Possibly the best way to watch a panel!! ;D

Yes, Jamie played Apollo in the new BsG series. I know him and his family and he is such an adorable man! His wife is lovely and he has three little girls who are the apple of his eye!
