Good luck with the early start to your day, eshalda! I'll wish for lots of sun for you in hopes you'll be able to dry off completely -- maybe by the time you get back home the weather will have sorted itself out?

Made it to Paris yesterday morning and now we are safely installed in our beautiful apartment overlooking the rooftops of the city. More later. The weather is beautiful, almost hot.

We're not going away until September. It can't come too soon. August is going to be a challenging month to say the least.

Weather here in Paris has gotten rather gray and blessedly cooler. It certainly is a welcome respite from the brutal heat we've been having in the Mid-Atlantic. Off to just outside Le Mans tomorrow for what promises to be a beautiful wedding!

Sir Flat reporting in from Rhodes. (Eldest boy got married here on Monday - joint wedding and holiday celebrations)
Temperatures now in the high 30s - 42 was seen earlier in the week!
Sun, blue sky, light breeze! Fantastic!
Must dash - pool lighting is inviting me in for a dip!

Back from our lovely weekend in the Sarthe, where we attended our friends' daughter's wedding. What a blow-out! Cocktail and 4-course dinner after the wedding, plus, there was a huge barbecue, with 2 spit-roasted pigs on Sunday. The chateau of Viré en Champagne was really rocking!

Back from France after over 2 weeks away. Coming home from a holiday is such a letdown, but this was not a relaxing beach vacation. I'll be so happy to have good AC once again!

Melly, we had an apartment in Paris or 2 weeks but we did traveling outside the city, too. We attended a wedding in the Sarthe near Le Mans for the first weekend and we took lots of day trips (Fontainebleau, Compiegne, Chantilly, Senlis, Giverny, and even went to London for the day). Alain's goddaughter just had a baby, so we got the chance to see little Maxence for the first time!
Now that we're back home, we're finding that we are totally exhausted!

Yes, we did, JM². It was a beautiful day and we arrived well in advance of the big crowds. Even though the roses were pretty well over, the dahlias and zinnias, along with some of the beautiful late summer blooms, were so colorful! And I loved the sweet home, too, esp. the dining room and kitchen. Got lots of pretty photos!

I'm sure you'll be wanting to see all the bits you didn't get to last time, but if you do get to Lancashire again you know where to find me! You'll be welcome.

Did you settle on November, Pie? Cheap flights but dodgy weather? Yeah I did. Figured I needed to take the good with the bad. Does it snow oop north in November?

Not very often, but the whole of late autumn/winter up here is a case of looking out of the window in the morning to see what it's like out there! Pack snowboots and swimsuits and you'll probably get it right (note I say only 'probably'!)

I took a daytrip to Madison(city I lived in until very recently) to visit with some friends and just mess around for the day. They got to town later than I did. So I went down to a pier on the south side of Lake Monona and did this. IT WAS SO FREAKING WINDY. While my tripod would have been helpful when shooting for a panorama, I'm glad I didn't have it. With my luck the wind would have blown my camera into the lake. And then I wondered why I never did this when I actually lived in the city, and the answer is probably I was too busy with real life. It is a bit different going for visits when the goal is to have fun and screw around rather than being there every day and usually when I have free time from work I'd rather just crawl into bed with a book or something. MOH and I have taken off the first week of September. Not sure if we're going to be able to really travel anywhere, but we've not had this amount of time off in YEARS. We just need a break. (there DMC, you happy now? )
