I made a painting today (I usually work with mixed media, I use ink as my main tool, because my drawings are very simplistic, and the ink is what gives me the details). I had a play and challenged myself to make a painting using my fingers and a metal rod only. I didn't use fancy paints, I never do, I use emulsion. Here's what I came up with, or a close up atleast! Im happy with it, because it was just playing: it also looks better in real life!

Okay, I hate that painting now... haha, because my finger paintings have improved since moving away from canvas and working on fabric instead. Here's my latest: THIS I am pleased with.

Thanks Nat! No, I don't like it either, but I don't think I could create work on the circus without the elephants, it would be a shame to ignore the hard work the animals did in the good old circuses.

Oo, hand embroidery on wool. Lush. Like the colors. Thanks for fighting the technology so we could see some of your work.

Painting on glass is a popular craft here too. It's like Tole painting. How nice it would be to wear such a lovely gown made just for you. I hated my wedding gown. Off the rack and poorly tailored.

I was lucky with my wedding dress. I had two great-aunts, one of whom had her own sewing and tailoring business (very House of Elliott) and specialised in evening dresses, beading etc. I reckon it was my ruination, sitting watching her doing fittings with the Lady Mayoress; the lady all diamonds and bright red nail varnish arriving in her chauffeur-driven car, the dresses all satins, beads and sequins. I sat as a small child cross-legged on the floor and watched. Perhaps not surprisingly, shiny, sparkly things have always been my weakness since childhood, and now I have my great-aunt's 'fitting mirror' in my back bedroom.
Although she was long retired, my great-aunt made my wedding dress. It was simple, but beautiful.

Rubber clothing? I had no idea. What's it like trying to work with that material?

Rubber clothing? I had no idea. What's it like trying to work with that material? you would have to have a seriously good figure to carry them off!

Antonia, you would have done a much better job of putting James in that painting than the bloke on "Fame in the Frame". Your style would have been perfect for it!
