A member has asked for a thread for people to post non-TG related art/photography. Please feel free to use this to show your work if you wish.
Please remember it is a public thread so everyone can see it. Also remember, if you are into nudes, don't post them on here please.
Finally, please ensure any images are small enough not to make the page width painful for people when viewing.
Thanks.

Awww, we're not invited to send our nudes to the admin team anymore? I mostly do landscapes, but I still thought the original rule was funny. I've got a decent amount of my recent stuff online already, since another artist friend and I on Twitter like to try to keep the other motivated and give criticism and whatnot. (not resized, sorry, you're gonna have to click links) I think I posted this one already on another thread. One of my few acrylics. Mt. Katahdin i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu6/meimichan/DSC_0450.jpgNew technique/idea I tried out about a month ago. Detroit i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu6/meimichan/DSC_0791.jpgSupposed to be Helsinki with northern lights-finished this one on Wednesday i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu6/meimichan/DSC_0790.jpgI tried doing one of Chicago in a similar style to these two, but it was on the crappy paper my parents bought me and it tore after getting wet. Will doubtless try it again. Portage Lift Bridge connecting Houghton to Hancock in MI, went to university in Houghton. i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu6/meimichan/DSC_0543.jpgFlamingos-this one is quite old actually, did it in 2002 or 2003, not sure if my recent stuff is better or worse...or just my evolving style. i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu6/meimichan/DSC_0545.jpgCleveland. It rocks. Kind of. As a general rule, the weather's horrid. i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu6/meimichan/DSC_0352.jpgWith the exception of Helsinki and Mt. Katahdin, the other paintings are of places I used to live in. Or at least in their suburbs. Not so sure what I'm going to work on next. I can't seem to get my next sketch to work out, and it's another location I haven't been to before, so I might scrap that and do a painting of Madison. I think one of my current home is due.

I was feeling a little jilted over no comments so far here. Bit of a Lord of the Rings fan are you? Those are some excellent portraits. I like the ones in pencil a lot. Fantastic detail. I think Gimli's was my favorite. I also love the painting of Sam. I don't do portraits a whole lot myself. Yours are quite good. I need some practice or possibly another art class myself. I've been feeling a bit rusty lately.

I do really like the Cleaveland one. That I'd put on my wall. Thank you! I had been considering selling that one actually. Not quite sure how I'd go about it, but I do think that one turned out quite well. It took quite a long time to paint.

I was feeling a little jilted over no comments so far here. I can so understand that.... I must say, I have never seen your style, your way of painting so far, but it's quite interesting! I espeically like i628.photobucket.com/albums/uu6/meimichan/DSC_0790.jpg. Heheh, why would you think that?! ;D Ermm.... thanks I've stopped painting and drawing, because, well... Im to myself only a perfectionist and... I have seen many, MANY people that are far better than me, so I kind'a gave up..... Gamling was my last portrait in 2009. Antonia, DMC, Mayfayre (why don't you post something here as well? ) and Jacqui... thanks ;D

Nat I would but I don't think members would like my Planet of the Apes stylie people!!! I did clothes design in Uni so I do your basic fashion poses not really art(though I did do basics in Art foundation).
Oh just wanted to say that I like your pic of the Lord of Gondor.Had to show OH so he could tell me who he was and my OH thought it was very very good. Now he doesn't say that about my apes!

I've not done much recently, apart from these 2 and they're not really "not TG related". I've never been able to stare at a photo of Jeremy for long enough to draw it!

You posted the wrong link nat, it's sending me back to PB's home page. But based on the number at the end of the link you liked my picture of Helsinki? You shouldn't quit drawing/painting because of your perceptions of other people being better. Everyone's got a different style and your portraits made me jealous, because I don't think mine are anywhere near as good as yours. So you never know who's envying your talents. Heck, that's one reason I post my stuff online. I by default think my stuff is all crappy and should never see the light of day, but either my friends are all lying to me or they all really like it. So I like the ego-boosting, I suppose? Plus it makes me paint more, and I can only get better from there. I did do a pencil sketch of James awhile back, that one is up in the TG-related art thread. Like yours MayFayre. ;D I like your Richard too. He looks confused.

Mayfayre, thanks for posting those!!! It's interesting to see there are so many different styles!! I totally love yours, especially the way you do the shadows on their faces! Oh ehm, yes, Helsinki indeed, Meimichan! Quite a few others also told me what you're telling me now, that I shouldn't quit drawing and painting. I post my stuff online for the same reason as yours. Though I paint and draw less.. But it defo gives me secretly also a little boost if some of you tell me you like it...... ^.^ Thanks for your little, well, what is it... another boost! Ohhhhhh, James sketch!! Where, where where? *is going to find out*

I think everyone likes being told they've done well!
Nat, really don't give up drawing, even if it's just scribbling on scraps of paper. Keep your hand in, you never know when it'll come in useful!

Very talented artists here, I can see. I just love the fact that people have different styles and techniques - that's what art is about: free expression. My aunt is an artist by profession and her style is somewhere between naivism and Picasso and her paintings are quite colourful and full of interesting details. Nat: your portraits are simply great. I especially love the painting of Sam, since I envy people who can use colours I can only do black and white pencil drawings and haven't done that in years, so I'm quite rusty at the moment. I have only been drawing trains and cars for the last few years ;D Meimichan: very impressive paintings. I really like the colours you use. Hmmm.. Maybe I should start drawing again...

Very nice dogs. I find drawing animals really hard, must be the hair, it's difficult to make it look real.. Here's 2 I made. I haven't been drawing for years, so give me a break here. First, James: Then Madonna (I failed miserably with the mouth - it's too big - but couldn't be arsed to erase it): Obviously I need lot more practice...

I did do some rather detailed drawings of my first kitty Cookie (stolen from student art show in college), and one of my mom's dog (gave the drawing to my mom when the dog died), so I don't have either of them. I may do one of Mimi when she mellows out enough and is able to hold still for longer than two minutes. I like those grizabella! (Fun random fact-my dad went to high school with Madonna. They didn't know each other.) Those puppy paintings are freaking awesome nat. Such cute puppies!

I really like that grizabella. It's intriguing.
I've tried sketching a bit the past couple days and for all that drawing is supposedly the foundation of painting...I cannot draw a straight line at all and my eraser took some abuse. How come I can create all sorts of depth and shapes and stuff with paint but using only lines and pencil marks I fail?
Possibly I need more practice. Not today though. Just wiped myself out at a farm.

Waw, we have a talented bunch here! I LOVE your Warwick Davis/Willow piece Nat! Here are some of my recents, I suppose I work in the style of children's illustration, but more for the children in adults. I work with mixed media: A 'do what you want' commission. I made this! Doll Im selling on my only shop when it opens! A drawing I made a while ago- but recently found: it's from the development of my story 'lottie lobotomy'. 24.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_lohdadYAoU1qib5leo1_400.jpg[/img] and here is a video I made of a derelict building (Still working on how to film inside very dark places!) youtu.be/McGgZ_17yVI

I've seen your work earlier this week, Fairy, and I love it!! Can you make dolls with anyone's face? If I still had the painting of Willow I'd have sent it to you, but Warwick owns it since 2006. Thanks

Thanks Nat! I might have gotten an illustration job as of yesterday- the man likes my style and has asked me to draw one or two illustrations to see if I capture the atmosphere he wants, and if I do, he might let me do the whole book, depending on how things go. So yay! I can make the dolls with any face- I use antique and vintage photos because I like them, but I've made a few using photos of my friends as gifts for them. Aww, Im sure it owns pride of place in the Warwick household! I love him, I have fond memories of putting a blanket over me, holding a baby doll and walking around saying 'milk a baby'- I so wanted to be Willow! Also- I was reading through this thread... don't give up drawing. Your portraits have a lovely quality to them, especially your painted ones. The paint is so delicate... keep going!!

Fairy, I love your work.As I've said before I'm not an artist but my clothes designs boarder on the vintage end of the scale.(Similar to your 50's dress).I yearn for the days of women in Dior style dresses and I have a special interest in 1920's clothes. Good luck with your illustrations, your work is very enchanting.

Thank you kindly! 'Enchanting' I like that! Clothes certainly where nicer back in the day, there's barely anything of most of todays clothes!! I love vintages, I use a lot of vintage fabrics, the patterns are always so wonderful. I'd love to see some of your designs, if you ever decide to upload some on the internet someone, do let me know! I admire people who have the ability to design- and make their own clothes.
