Don't worry, MG. Mine has been going AWOL for years, the most recent occasion being last month! Oh, the joys of Autumn. I got soaked while on my way to the estate agent's office today. However, despite the pouring rain, I would have been somewhat less soaked had one pillock of a motorist not seen fit to drive rather too fast through a large puddle just as I happened to be walking past it. I can't help thinking it was deliberate, as the car was a bit too close to the kerb, and I'm sure I heard some extra revving of the engine as it went past. Needless to say, I was not even slightly amused. *deep breath* Grrrrrrr!!!!

That really is out of order XJ arse of a driver I hope you are ok. It's arrived ;D Honestly, I dislike it when I have it and miss it even when it's a tiny bit late Now in a lot of pain , painkillers are wonderful. However why is it everyone around has gone into complete freakout mode, which isn't helping me relax a little to reduce the pains. If I tense everything seems to get worse . Mum is freaking out because of orders that need to be filled (which will be once I'm coherent) and her hands are giving her problems. And sister is, I have no doubt, will have a hissy fit when Mum asks her to do something and it'll get blown out of proportions and muggins is in the middle as usual I do feel like WW3 will break out sometimes, ok a bit of an exaggeration but I will be assuming the brace position and a helmet. I'll be at some point visiting Grandma and her surviving f*sh. we think she over fed the other one and that helped him keel over. She has an ability to overfeed anything, it's her way of showing love even if you can't hug a f*sh. I just hope this one lasts a bit longer That's it moaning and worries out. Thank you for listening, I'll be here all week

Gah. An 'anonymous' gift that I contributed to a gift box, for an unwell friend, has turned up at her house - with a nice gift tag attached to it with my blummin' name on it. I specifically said when I put my gift in, that it was to be anonymous, and some eejit went and spoiled it. I've just had a gushing teary email from the unwell friend, and now I'm annoyed. Not at her, but at the fool who stuck my name on the gift. SHE will be hearing from me, and my email is NOT going to be gushy at all

Further to my being soaked by one tw*t of a motorist last week, earlier this evening I was very nearly mown down by an equally moronic bloke on a push bike, as I was crossing a side road just around the corner from here. He made very little attempt to swerve, no effort to brake, and missed me by mere inches! I'm well aware that not all cyclists would do such a thing, but until the cycling fraternity in general vastly improves its road use, they will get no sympathy for their cause from me.

ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
PUBLIC TRANSPORT IS A PILE OF ****!
Ah, that's better. That got it out of my... no, hang on...
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Basically, if god meant us to all travel around together, we'd all live in the same place. Either my recent experiences of trains have proved that we have all turned away from the One True Path or else I can now catagorically state that there is no god. And by the way, did I mention public transport is a pile of ****?
ARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And... relax.

If it had been one bad journey it wouldn't have been so bad. It was just unfortunate that I got caught up in problems on the way to London AND on the way back. And none of it was really the fault of the transport companies involved, it just goes to show that relying on lots of people to get you from one place to another doesn't always come together terribly well. After the "everything's broken, please go home"/flood/bus/Bristol/sent on the wrong tube/stranded at Mile End/Thank god for MF and thermal mugs of tea performance on Thursday night wasn't enough to deal with, this morning MF got me to the station just as the train was arriving, so I did the first part of my journey with no problems. Unfortunately, when I got to Stratford tube, someone had been taken ill two stops along the line and they had to be evacuated by ambulance, which meant that everything behind it couldn't go anywhere. Although they suggested taking alternative routes, by the time they did that, there wasn't enough time left to make my train (a plan complicated by someone falling under a train on another line, apparently, which is again not the train company's fault, and very sad for all concerned, but it does go to show how things can complicate each other). So when I finally got to Waterloo, I was almost an hour late. Fortunately, the station staff were lovely and got me onto the next available train, but unlike the first one, this wasn't straight through and involved a change at Exeter - where the staff told me off for travelling on the wrong ticket and began to tell me I should get a new one. I got a bit cross, because a) the company I booked the ticket through had OK'd the change and b) the staff at Waterloo had been fine about it and they eventually decided that they would let me on the next train after all.
It was delayed.
I think it's particularly galling that these events sandwiched a weekend that was spent in praise of personal transport. And I'm taking it as a sign that I need to get some personal transport of my own as soon as possible. As my bottom fits - MF has photographic proof of this - I'm thinking a Lotus Elise will do it. Of course, it will break down more often than the train, but at least a grumpy Geordie won't be swearing at me when it does.
As I say, I don't blame the train company for the flooding and freak hailstorms on Thursday, and it was an unfortunate coincidence that I got into London very late on an evening where TFL had chosen to take off the last services. And it was very sad that someone was taken so seriously ill on the tube this morning that they had to be rescued by the ambulance service, and I genuinely hope that whatever happened to them, they are soon fully recovered. I don't know what happened to the person who went under the train - the outcome of these things is rarely good - but again, I don't hold it against TFL. These things happen. Unfortunately, because mass transport affects many thousands of people, their consequences affect thousands of people too, however. It's sheer bad luck that one both occasions, one of those thousands of people was me.

Accordinmg to Lodger (who has the Order of the Grand Anorak in such things) the staff on that particular branch of that particular train company are particularly bad with any kind of anomaly in tickets. He suggests you send a complaint to their head office.

NUMBERS GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHH it's not even large complicated ones which have to be interpreted (those are interesting) or have letters after them. These are just inputting number after number. I know this is the worst part and looking at the overall figures will be interesting and searching out any errors, but this PART IS HORRID!!! I've been copying numbers from one sheet to another (no copy and paste function available ) for the last 5 hours It's done now so hooray but I needed to get that out ;D

My HDD recorder is STILL not fixed! They've spent 2 weeks faffing about ordering it a new HDD and finally discovered that wasn't the problem. I KNOW, I COULD HAVE TOLD THEM THAT!!! Now they have to do something very complicated involving trailing wires from underneath the motherboard to work out how to fix it. They're also trying to tell me I had no output from it at home. Um, I did - the only bit that wasn't working was the INPUT. That's how I knew it was the INPUT that wasn't working, not the HDD! I can see me not getting it back in time for the Children in Need (or whatever it is) special thingy on Friday now

I feel your pain, MG. I did something similar to that today at work. One of the other reasons I was falling asleep at my desk. It's awful, isn't it? I'm glad you're finished with your demon numbers. I've still got more to do Wed, if everyone leaves me alone at work. *here's hoping*

How difficult is it for them to tell the difference between input and output? They do seem very, very hopeless I really hope you get something sorted soon. It's rubbish that they seem to be incapable of getting it right

I thought I'd posted this head is not working MF, men don't want to listen do they Don't worry I'm sure someone will record it Right, hold on to your seats and put on earmuffs. 1) I hate my sister, she is just arghhhhhh! Still haven't forgiven about the stuff in chat but I have to get on with her, the house isn't that big. 2) Had to go to the vet's with Val because he's been dribbling. He's my baby (I know) and I go to pieces when anything happens however minor. Went in the vet is a berk and was being jokey this was helping me or Val. Sister being less than helpful on the sidelines, and yes she needn't have come but there you go Val may have a swallowed something but has had a dose of antibiotics and he may have to go to have an exploratory if he doesn't stop dribbling. The vet jokingly said we'll knock him out with something heavy, ha bloody ha! Apparently I went quite white. Hence I'm feeling rather grotty and hateful and teary towards everything. Bah humbug I did see my Grandma and she's good fun There done back to the cheerful thread

Admittedly, when I took it into the shop and they looked at it straight away, they couldn't get any output from it but I just assumed it was a dodgy cable or something. They're saying it's related to the problem as in & out are done by the same part.
I think they completely mis-understood what I meant by "Can't record from an external source" as "Can't record or see anything"!
At least they're regarding it as part of the previous repair and aren't charging me for it! It's just soooooo frustrating. There's a Time Team special on tonight I'm having to get recorded elsewhere now. Grrrrrrr.

I suppose that they aren't charging you is something, MF. Even so, it's a bit of an embuggerance. MG, *HUGE HUGS*. I know exactly where you're coming from - Merlin is my baby and I was a total wreck when he was poorly last week (he's much better now, btw). I don't think there's anything wrong with the way you feel under the circumstances. Grrr to the vet for being so insensitive! On the sister issue, I can only say if I still lived with my sister I would be exactly the same. But I'm glad you enjoyed seeing your grandma

Thank you Wy *hugs* There is another vet who is much nicer and is a cat person, but this vet is more of a dog/big animal vet. We also think because Val is a pedigree cat he might dislike that. It doesn't matter that we've homed stray cats before I don't think we can win with him
