Lymaze was mentioning her near accident on the GM/GE thread & despite the fact i've not driven for nearly 10 yrs i have seen some very stupid things from being in the car with my mother (who has acquired some of her knowledge from police friends back in the days when she did store security) such as not indicating when going around or exiting roundabouts, not indicating when coming onto a motorway (something the police tend to despise), cutting one up on roundabouts, flashing her to go into the inner lane of a dual carriageway when she is already (only a bit ) exceeding the speed limit & they are doing well over the 60 speed limit. Why do people think a dual carriageway is a motorway? And then there are the wombles who have their foglights on when there is not only no fog but a clear night. Hellooooo. Sorry rant over. Plenty more where that came from but i'm too tired now. Cheesy, I don't mean to be pedantic, but the speed limit on a duel carriageway is 70mph, unless otherwise indicated. That's the same as on a motorway, and therefore plenty of drivers, including myself, treat a duel carriageway as they would a motorway. Mind you, I wouldn't flash other drivers! I like to drive fast, but I do drive sensibly!! ;D

Sorry my bad. Shows how long since i've driven . My mum does 80 on both motorways & dual-carriageways (is it something to do with the number of lanes in the latter re speed limit) which while not being over fast isnt exactly slow yet she still gets (mostly) men flashing her to go in.

I frequently do 80mph on motorways as well, and I still get people overtaking me!!! So, your mum's not alone. I don't know why the speed limit was set as it was, but it probably wasn't anything to do with the number of lanes. A motorway has more lanes, and therefore more space, than a dual carriageway, but the speed limit is still the same. Personally, I think it could do with being raised...

Not necessarily. I know 3 lane dual carriagways with a 40mph speed limit (littered with cameras) and 2 lane motorways and dual carriageways with a 70 mph speed limit! It's also do do with how built up the area is, how windy/complicated that stretch of road is & what the road planners had for breakfast!

Odd, I've only ever owned one iron which I've had since I was 18 and, apart from the knob falling off years ago, I've never had a problem with it. Maybe it's because I hardly ever use it?!

Just discovered I got the dates wrong on my credit card payments & they've charged me £12 on EACH card for late payment! Then they'll stick interest on top of that, all because I mixed up the statement date & the due date! I ALWAYS pay it off in full & ALWAYS make sure there are enough days for the payment to clear. ONE mistake & they throw that at me. And NOW, when I have a massive bill because it's the worst time of year financially for me! And will they exercise discretion & accept it was a genuine mistake like they used to do? Will they £&^$!

Gah! I don't know what to do. I keed getting in trouble with my boss for messing up. I'm only messing up because I'm so upset and I'm upset because she's pregnant and I'm adopted so seeing her so happy and the babies father coming in all the time and all the presents she's getting and everything. I just find that really hard to see without getting upset. I can't tell her what's going on because I don't want her to feel guilty and I am really happy for her. I think I need a hug.

Thank you banned. No she's only got a little while left and I'd hate to upset her for something that isn't her fault. I'll be alright.

Gote perhaps you do need to tell your boss that it's bothering you. At least she'll know why you keep messing up. For the record i'm adopted too; not by both parents but by my mum's 2nd husband who i consider to be my dad.
