Think two weeks is about average for one of these things.

Jeremy just Tweeted that this trip is for the 'Christmas Special.'

So, I've just had a thought. The center of Uganda is roughly 465 miles from Mt. Kilamanjaro; and in order to get there, there is a variety of land obstacles as well as crossing Lake Victoria. I'm calling it that this might be worked in somehow.

If that's the case, that would be seriously impressive.
Do we think Jeremy is being serious about the Christmas special being shown in February? If so, that offers a couple of possible scenarios:
1) TG series 19 begins in early January, runs 6-7 episodes and the Special airs at the end of the series, late February
2) The Special is shown at some point in February as the series starter, then the series follows, going through into March
I can't help thinking that to plan to film a series in January is a mistake, in terms of there being a high chance of bad weather for track work such as SIARPC (and also for getting the audience there!). However, if it's the other scenario we'll have to wait even longer than we'd hoped for new TG.
On yet another hand, Jaremy could just have been joking; not impossible.

I think scenario 1) sounds the most likely.
There's always the possibility that Clarkson doesn't know what he's talking about, and an even bigger one that I don't

They are going to drive the length of the Nile, ending at the Pyramids! Follow the longest river..........in the world.........from start to finish. Two problems I can see: a). 2 weeks is not a long time and b). Sudan and it's associated problems is in the way. Still, this is my highly uneducated tip!

Have they done Egypt before? I don't remember them ever going there.

James has just given away some details on Absolute Radio.
When asked where they are filming the Christmas special, following the comment that there can't be many places left that they haven't been, James said that they could be going somewhere again. He might just have meant Africa, or there could be more to that.
He also said that TG will be back the third week of January, so that seems pretty precise.
Edit: They have been spotted at a hotel in Kampala, apparently.

They're definitely there, but if they'll STAY there who knows...

I concede defeat regarding my Nile prediction. No 7000 foot mountains along the Nile, I don't think!! Ljcteehee may be right though!

I think the Rwenzori Mountains are also a possiblity. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rwenzori_MountainsEspecially since one account said they were traveling from Kampala to Mityana at one point. That would be heading in basically the exact direction for the Rwenzori. Jeremy also said he was packing warm clothes on twitter...

This comment from the Jalopnik column made me laugh:
Clarkson VO: "Tonight, on Top Gear. James May goes on a ride with the Mexican Space Agency. "
cut shot: May screaming.
Clarkson VO: "Richard Hammond joins Menudo."
cut shot: Hammond at dance rehearsal.
Clarkson VO: "And I visit a Merkin factory."
cut shot: Clarkson with shaved head.

I am so jealous! My brother phoned me and said he was going to the Austin Grand Prix. He's usually at the NASCAR races. He didn't answer when I mentioned the tickets were probably expensive. I wanted an autograph from someone but he doesn't think he'll get that close. On another note, I can't stand Las Vegas, Nevada (we have one in NM). Sad memories. My mother died after her last trip to see her family in 1995. I haven't been there since.

I agree. I think Vegas is a hole. Good shopping though and cheap eats if you know where to look.

Isn't Willow Springs where TG USA film some of their stuff? The Baja 1000 says the TG team is going to change. Let's put Tanner and the Stig in the rest of the way.
