Got tickets for Sheffield by ringing the Arena direct today (Thursday) on pre-order. I'm really annoyed with Ticketmaster as, despite the fact that I'm registered with them, I reserved really good seats twice on Wednesday but the online system wouldn't complete both times, so I lost them. Tried to phone to sort it out but their orderline/customer service extension told me to phone their other ticket order number then cut me off, but when I phoned the other number it told me to phone their orderline/customer service number then cut off! This is the second time in a month that Ticketmaster has done this and, if I can ever get through to them I will be doing some complaining.
I've got reasonable seats but I'm annoyed I couldn't get better. I'm taking Bloke who has never been before - I haven't missed a year yet and want to make sure he doesn't miss the experience.

Top Gear Live 2015: Back in the UK!Posted by TopGear.com 5:18 pm on Friday January 30, 2015 Top Gear fans of Britain! If you want to witness the cutting edge of cocking about in real time, with your own two eyes, you need to get yourself to one of the Top Gear Live shows, heading to an arena near you throughout 2015. Having spent the last few years spreading the gospel of Top Gear to the people of Moscow, Barbados, Durban, Zagreb, Turin, Prague and Sydney, this year sees the three presenters and Stig returning home to good ol’ Blighty. In a whirlwind tour incorporating Liverpool, Newcastle, Sheffield, Belfast and London, the boys will be up to their usual arena-based tricks in a 90-minute show that’ll be a mixture of old favourites plus exclusive, never-seen-before stunts that – fingers crossed – will pass with no more than the bare minimum of swearing and fire. To get the inside scoop on what to expect, we spoke to Rowland French, the show’s creative director and the man in charge of keeping Clarkson at arm’s length from any blowtorches. “As Top Gear Live grows, it’s getting harder,” French tells us. “Luckily we’re getting better at making it, and we’re really excited about coming back to the UK because it’s Top Gear’s home. We’ve got a whole new show and a load of challenges, stunts and displays that we can’t wait to show the audience.” French promises some serious BMW-based japery. “We’ve built two custom E92 M3’s [they’re the tasty naturally V8 one, kids] with enormous wide body kits from Liberty Walk in Japan, custom suspension, custom wheels and completely covered in LEDs to showcase a driving stunt sequence that you’ve never seen before.” And a bunch of, um, reverse-Fords. “We’ve also fabricated a fleet of Fiestas. When you open the driver’s door the whole car is backwards. Not just the steering wheel and the seat – the carpets, the stereo, the dash, the door trims, everything has been rotated the other way. We’re going to use them in a stunt-driving scene with all the cars driving in reverse, but it’ll look like they’re driving forwards. However as the sequence ramps up they’ll be driving the wrong way round, which is the right way round. Trust me it gives you a bit of a nosebleed when watching it…” Aside from the mind-scrambling mirrored stunt cars, Jeremy’s beloved P45 faces competition as Richard and James take a crack at making the smallest car possible. We’re guessing one presenter may have an advantage. We’re told to expect plenty of death-defying driving, too, not least because TGL promises to finally answer that big question: who’s the best driver of the three telly boys? “The press has a habit of saying the boys don’t all their own stunts,” Rowland says. “So we’re going to stage a drifting event with the three of them to prove to the audience whether they can or can’t drive. We’ve given them a budget to find the best used drift car that they’ll bring along and have their ability scored on round a drift course. There’s no editing like TV. So if they crash, they crash.” The TG live team are also setting their sights on a new world record: to create the world’s largest ‘Cage of Death’, where multiple motorcyclists use centrifugal force to whip round the inside of a giant globe while trying not to hit each other. How many motorcyclists? “We’re going to put seven in it,” says French, “but I’m pushing for eight…” So if you want to see possibly the messiest record attempt in history, lots of cars, lots of fire, lots of scantily clad dancers (some on fire), plus Jeremy, Richard, James and Stig, hit the link below to get your tickets. Top Gear Live tickets start at £35 (subject to per-ticket charge plus order processing fee) and are available from www.livenation.co.uk. Top Gear Live: What To Expect
Roll up for motoring’s big top . . . and three clownsBy Sunday Times Driving Published 11th February 2011 COMPLETE CHAOS. That’s what happens when you bring together a roomful of precision stunt-drivers and hi-tech performance cars, then enlist three self-confessed buffoons to act as ringmasters. Top Gear Live returns this week for a near sellout stadium tour of Britain, bringing the anarchy and action of the TV show to the stage. The first show starts in Liverpool this week, and the caravan will then go on to Newcastle upon Tyne, Belfast and Sheffield before ending up in London in November. The show will be hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond — as well as special guest the Stig — and aims to recreate the informal and slightly unpredictable atmosphere of the BBC2 show. However, rather than cutting to films of the three presenters putting cars through their paces in Australia, Argentina or at the Dunsfold aerodrome in Surrey, all the action takes place in the arena. What can audiences expect? We are reliably informed that this year the producers have found some extra money to ensure that the shows go off with even more of a bang, which means there will be everything from Reliant Robin racing to competitive drifting, and a rare appearance of Clarkson’s P45 microcar (Hammond and May will also be building their own tiny runarounds, which will be put through a variety of ludicrous tests to see which is best). There’s only so much calamity that a 90-minute show can take, though, which is why the three presenters will also be making way for some truly talented stunt riders and drivers who will make your jaw drop. The choreography involved in these sections of the show — which see motorbikes and cars whizzing past each other with only inches to spare — wouldn’t be out of place at Sadler’s Wells. Of course, this wouldn’t be Top Gear without a smattering of supercars, and fans of exotic metal can look forward to seeing some of the greatest cars around being driven in anger. These will include the McLaren 650S, Nissan GT-R and Aston Martin Vanquish. So buckle up and get your earplugs at the ready as we guide you through the highlights of what Clarkson modestly calls “probably the greatest show on earth”. What, where, when and how much WhatTop Gear Live is a live-action stage version of the TV show, hosted by Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, complete with stunts, supercars and the Stig. WhenHow muchPrices for the 90-minute show vary between venues and are based on how close you dare sit to the arena. Tickets start at £35. You will pay from £45 for a “good” seat and from £55 for a “great” seat. Prices for the first three rows start at £95. All tickets are subject to a booking fee and a handling fee and are available from livenation.co.uk. Children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Loud explosions make the show unsuitable for under-fives. Visitors are advised to bring earplugs. For more information go to topgearlive.co.uk www.driving.co.uk/news/top-gear-live-what-to-expect/

Top Gear Live: A Special Preview
Turn the Heat to 11 and Watch Everything Go Up in FlamesBy Sunday Times Driving Nick Rufford and Dominic Tobin Published 11th February 2015 BURNING PORSCHES and rubber-shredding BMWs are the big draw at Top Gear Live, but don’t miss the motorcycle ‘globe of death’ and the Reliant Robins either…Moving light showBrute force meets graceful precision in this display, which stars two tuned BMW M3 coupés with more than 500bhp and aggressive carbon-fibre body kits alongside a troupe of performers DriftingSome say that the presenters can’t do their own stunts, that the tyre-smoking, engine-roaring, exhaust-smouldering action on TV is all the work of racing drivers. This is the segment where the trio prove their critics wrong. They have each bought a car to compete in a drift competition and will be called on to powerslide round sweeping bends and figures of eight and perform controlled doughnuts before being judged on their performance. Sceptics may have to eat their words, although James May will be looking for a way to sneak the Stig into his driving seat, as he did on TV last week. Reliant Robin racingClarkson, Hammond, May and the Stig will be racing each other in three-wheeled Reliant Robins. You can use your imagination to work out what might happen next. Don’t bank on any of them getting to the finish line without toppling over. Going in reverseA fleet of Ford Fiesta STs have been tuned up to 200bhp and fitted with wide-arch body kits. Even that’s not zany enough for the show, so their interiors have been reversed: the engine is in the boot and the driver looks out of the rear window. Your mind will warp as it tries to work out which way is forwards and which way is back Flaming Porsches The only bit of the show that’s been carried over from previous tours because it was such a hit is a section of stunt-driving in Porsches that are on fire, accompanied by even more pyrotechnics. Montage of mayhemCalled How Have We Survived?, a video made for the live show brings together the crashes, smashes and mishaps from 13 years of Top Gear on TV, from Hammond’s infamous 288mph jet-car crash to the time that May managed to fall up a ramp. And the time he fell off a horse. All strife is there, straight from a health and safety manual’s “Avoid” chapter. Globe of death
Take one giant steel-mesh ball and send a motorbike rider inside to zoom round and round, up and down. That would be spectacular enough, but how about seven riders in the world’s biggest globe of death, all riding at high speed, at the same time. It looks like a motorcycle washing machine. Mine’s smaller than yoursClarkson’s P45 — even smaller than the Peel P50 — is based on a quad bike (Eagle Eyes / FameFlynet.uk.com)Pint-size performanceTwo years ago Clarkson created his vision of the car of the future. It wasn’t what you might expect from a man so prone to yelling, “Powwweer!”, given that it was based on a quad bike and had a top speed of 34mph. It even qualified as a hybrid vehicle — assuming, that is, you were followed around by two mechanics who would swap the petrol engine for some batteries and a motor. Fed up with hearing how fantastic the so-called P45 was, Hammond and May have tasked themselves with building their own, better small cars. Their creations will be revealed to the audience — and Clarkson — at Top Gear Live, where a series of challenges will decide whose model is the best. It starts like a rocket — but can it stop in time?IT BEAT a Bentley Continental and a BMW M6 off the line in last week’s edition of Top Gear and now Clarkson is convinced that nothing will out-accelerate a Nissan GT-R. He’ll be testing that theory as he races the Nürburgring-tuned Nissan against a rival supercar. The challenge won’t just be flooring the throttle — it will be stopping before the GT-R smashes into a concrete wall. The GT-R isn’t the only exotic metal at the show. Here’s a taste of the rest . . . Nissan GT-R £78,0200-62mph 2.7sec Top speed 196mph Power 543bhp McLaren 650S £195,2500-62mph 3.0sec Top speed 207mph Power 641bhp Noble M600 £229,7430-62mph 3.4sec Top speed 225mph Power 662bhp Porsche 911 GT3 £100,5400-62mph 3.5sec Top speed 196mph Power 469bhp Aston Martin Vanquish £192,9950-60mph 3.6sec Top speed 201mph Power 568bhp Backstage at the world’s craziest car showBeef Hula HoopsThere are no riders in the presenters’ contracts that compare with Van Halen’s insistence that the band be served M&Ms with the brown ones removed. Nevertheless, James May requests a 55p packet of BBQ beef-flavoured Hula Hoops, to be left in the green room. He gets through one packet a week — no matter how many shows are scheduled — and even Clarkson fears the reaction from May if he pinches one. The StigIs he a man, a machine or the almost forgotten Maureen from the TV show Driving School? Nobody knows, and to keep it that way the Stig has a private dressing room to which general access is prohibited, no matter what strange noises are coming from behind the door. The Stig arrives at the last minute in leisurewear — a balaclava — to lessen the chance of his identity being revealed. He’s the real thing, too. Top Gear Live’s producers know that dedicated fans would spot the differences in build and gait if an impostor were beneath the white helmet. Fumbling in the darkHundreds of technicians, dozens of circus performers, a wealth of cars and three scatterbrained presenters. It’s no wonder not everything goes to plan — such as the time when Clarkson’s car broke down minutes before he was due to roar out on stage. He stumbled to another car in the dark, jumped in and zoomed into the arena — in a cloud of tyre smoke, obviously. Only then could he jump out and tell the audience what he had arrived in. www.driving.co.uk/news/top-gear-live-a-special-preview/www.thesundaytimes.co.uk/sto/ingear/cars/article1515074.ece

REVIEW: Top Gear Live at the ECHO Arena23:15, 13 February 2015By Jade Wright Top Gear Live at the ECHO ArenaMy friend has a theory that she can tell which show is on just by looking at the audience. I would go one further – often you can tell what’s going to be onstage from the way the auditorium smells. And rarely more so than with Top Gear Live. While the ECHO arena has a delicate aroma of talcum powder when Strictly Come Dancing calls by, the Beyonce/Katy Perry/ Rihanna shows have a waft of perfume and some of the laddier shows smell like Lynx deodorant, sweat and beer, Top Gear had a surprisingly strong whiff of petrol. It makes sense. To bring to the stage the world’s most popular TV show, the team has taken out all the floor seats and replaced them with an enormous driving area so the drivers can whizz round in breath-taking supercars, showing off impressive stunts and often looking as though they would run over by Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond. If you like the TV show, you will love the live version, which on its first night saw the world’s largest Cage of Death (who knew such a thing existed?) where seven motorcyclists use centrifugal force to circle the inside of a giant globe. James May, Richard Hammond and Jeremy Clarkson at the Top Gear Live show at the ECHO ArenaThere was a visual spectacular in the shape of two custom built BMW M3s covered in more than 600 metres of LEDs as part of a collaboration with LED performance company, Feeding the Fish. White suited racing driver, The Stig, took on the presenter trio for a spot of Reliant Robin racing and they finished off the whole thing by jumping into little Suzukis to play car football. Never ones to shy away from controversy, they debated whether the opposing teams should be Liverpool and Everton, or whether they ought to include Tranmere Rovers too – to much delight from the crowd. They settled on the much more predicable – and less fun, but probably cheaper in car paint while on a national tour – England versus Argentina. It was all entertaining enough, and as you might expect Jeremy Clarkson scored the winning goal with a hand of God. As they said their farewells they thanked the Liverpool crowd and urged us to drive fast on the way home, which would have been funny were it not for the bitter irony of ever trying to get thousands of people out of the ECHO arena car park in a hurry. The show runs for another couple of days, and I think there are still tickets left for Sunday – just make sure you leave the car at home. www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/whats-on/whats-on-news/review-top-gear-live-echo-8646014

Transmission – BBC Top Gear Top Gear Live is in Newcastle Posted by TopGear.com 4:46 pm on Friday February 20, 2015 Wey-aye, man! After conquering Liverpool a few weeks ago, the slightly smoldering Top Gear Live tour bus has rolled into Cheryl Cole’s hometown: Newcastle. This weekend sees the boys playing five shows over three days in Newcastle’s majestic Metro Radio Arena. Having stunned the Merseysiders with reverse-Fiestas, LED BMWs and the biggest ‘ball of death’ on the planet, the 90-minute show is in toon from from Friday 20 until Sunday 22 February. It’s a reet bobby dazzler of a show, with a mind-scrambling mirrored stunt car routine, Jeremy’s beloved P45 under some competition from rivals Richard and James, and a massive indoor car football match to make St James’s derby day look like a Sunday little league. Newcastle's Bigg Market Could Be Visited by Top Gear's James May and Jeremy Clarkson19:30, 20 February 2015 By Keiran SouthernThe popular motoring programme are bringing their successful Top Gear Live show to Newcastle this weekendTop Gear Live Tour at the Metro Radio Arena. James May and Keiran SouthernGeordies hitting The Toon this weekend could bump into a star - Top Gear’s James May. Captain Slow is visiting Tyneside as part of the show’s nationwide tour and has promised to pay a visit to the Bigg Market. May, one third of the popular motoring programme’s presenting team, is a fan of the North East and hopes to venture out into The Toon on the weekend. But there was no mention as to whether Top Gear partner-in-crime Jeremy Clarkson would join him on his night out. May, 52, who has been presenting Top Gear since 2003, said he waslooking forward to performing in front of a live audience. He said: “I love it, I still feel love, coming from the audience. I am sure I will feel a lot of love up here, it’s a loved up sort of place. I always think of it that way. “I have been here a few times, they have a nice time up here don’t they? You go to the Bigg Market and drink beer and fall over and all that stuff. I have been there. The Bigg Market is my favourite part of Newcastle. “At some point I will go out into the town. I have brought my t-shirt.” Top Gear’s live edition has toured all over the world, wowing fans along the way. Top Gear Live Tour at The Metro Radio Arena
The show is in its 12th year but May says there is no sense of de ja vu setting in. He said: “Having an audience is always stimulating. When you speak to camera you have got an audience because you need to talk to it and I always think about all the people sitting on their sofas or doing the ironing or breast feeding, whatever people do when they are watching Top Gear. “But having a live audience like we do in the studio that is a stimulus but of course it is not live because it is a recording and it can be edited. “There is an extra frisson of excitement when it is a live audience in a live show because whatever happens it happens once and then it is gone. “I could call Richard Hammond a ‘dingle berry’. I can say that and there’s nothing anyone can do about it.” When asked if he was looking forward to performing in Newcastle, the 52-year-old praised Geordies for their outgoing nature. He said: “It goes back to that love thing. We have never had a disastrous show. There are one or two countries where the reception has been quite cool. There was nothing wrong with the show but Sweden are not as effusive as what Geordies are, or Poles, or the Australians, or the South Africans, they a make a right racket. “I would not claim to know a lot about Newcastle, I have been here a bit and I have known a few Geordies in my time. “They are not shy and retiring are they.” Top Gear Live is in the Metro Radio Arena from until Sunday February 22.
