Clarkson Makes Return With TV HintJames May and Jeremy Clarkson during the opening night of Clarkson, Hammond and May Live at the Odyssey Arena in Belfast Jeremy Clarkson arrives at the Odyssey Arena, Belfast 22 MAY 2015 Jeremy Clarkson dropped his broadest hint yet of a return to television as he teamed up with his former Top Gear presenters during a live show. He entered to the theme of boxing anthem Eye Of The Tiger as he made his first public appearance with Richard Hammond and James May since he was dropped by the BBC in March following a "fracas" with a producer. The show, which kicks off a global super car tour, opened with footage of him throwing a hefty left hand, then the man himself arrived in a hovercraft to the music which once accompanied Irish boxer Barry McGuigan into the ring. Clarkson said they were not in America - yet. "We have had a lot of interest from all around the world in our TV programme and who knows what may happen," he said. The performance in Northern Ireland was laced with irony, with repeated swipes at paperwork and lawyers. It was also predictably politically incorrect, with jokes about the French and disability, swooning at a scantily clad runner and lots of fast cars. Clarkson told of his liking for the Alfa Romeo, with an engine he compared to somebody screaming in your ear, which he demonstrated on Hammond. "All of us have friends who have got flaws, they turn up late, they have smelly armpits," he said. "To err is human, that is the great thing about the car, it has faults like we all do, that is the great thing about that car, it has faults like we all do, me in particular." One of the cast supporting Clarkson, Hammond and May was injured earlier in the day and taken to hospital. But the trio survived during a performance packed with ribald jokes. They have not appeared on the same stage since Clarkson left the BBC following a "fracas" with a producer in March but reunited to front the live stadium spin-off of the hit BBC2 motoring show. The motoring stars said they opted to start the tour in "Bel-Fast" because "it is a long way from the Daily Mail offices". May said: "We have bad news, it turns out that the orangutan is not quite as gone as we hoped." Clarkson made several references to his former career as a TV presenter. "This TV lark is much harder, you have to remember your lines, remember where to stand, you cannot be rude about your colleagues, you cannot swear." They raced three-wheeled Reliant Robins around the track, inevitably all ending up on their sides, and 55-year-old Clarkson squeezed delicately from his. "Can I have a Caesarean?" he asked. He said he once rolled one into a canal but for legal reasons could not televise that. He told his co-stars: "Why don't you drive like a bat out of hell, you will be killed but I don't care - there will be a lot of paperwork." A giant "salad shaker" globe contained motorcyclists, and May was invited to stand in it. He asked about a helmet but was told it would not protect him although "it would make his head easier to find". Clarkson said: "Don't worry if it goes wrong, they are only French." The BBC stripped its branding from the show after Clarkson's departure. He said: "It is cost effective now we are doing this show in association with nobody else at all, we have to save money." The six-month global tour of the rebranded Clarkson, Hammond and May Live team will end in London in November. Top Gear Live had run for a number of years but organisers removed the branding following Clarkson's departure from the BBC. Clarkson was suspended, then dropped, by the BBC in March following the "fracas" at a hotel. Producer Oisin Tymon suffered swelling and a split lip in the assault on March 4 and visited a hospital A&E department due to his injuries. Following an internal investigation, the BBC announced on March 25 that Clarkson's contract on Top Gear would not be renewed. Quirky races and flaming Porsches were predictable staples during tonight's live show. Hammond raced fleet-footed 2010 Commonwealth gold heptathlon winner Louise Hazel, losing by a nose or a fender. Clarkson said: "Beaten by a pedestrian." The show also featured a "football match" between red and green cars representing England and Northern Ireland and a giant white ball. Northern Ireland convincingly took the lead and won in the end but there were a few complaints about hand brakes from Clarkson and colleagues. Around 5,500 spectators packed the Odyssey Arena to see the show. The tour heads to Sheffield, then Johannesburg, South Africa, and Stavanger in Norway in June. Then it goes to Australia for shows in Perth and Sydney in July, followed by Warsaw in October and ending at London's O2 for two nights in November. www.belfasttelegraph.co.uk/entertainment/news/clarkson-makes-return-with-tv-hint-31245543.html

Who is this man in a white racing suit appearing in Clarkson, Hammond and May Live? Exclusive video It's not Top Gear, of course - but there's something awfully familiar about this man. We just can't put our finger on it...By Radio Times staff Friday 22 May 2015 at 04:45PM
Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have found "exactly what we needed" to make their live tour a success... This exclusive RadioTimes.com clip from a new film to be screened at the live shows features former Top Gear presenter Jeremy Clarkson in voiceover explaining how they came to sign up a 'very old friend' in a white racing suit. "He was soaked in urine and living rough but he claimed that many years ago he used to work on a TV show, so he was exactly what we needed," Clarkson says. What TV show could that have possibly been, though? The full film will form part of Clarkson, Hammond and May's live tour, starting this Friday 22 May in Belfast. Watch the clip below: http://instagr.am/p/2_Xisnteep BBC Worldwide confirmed that the live tour would still go ahead despite Clarkson being dropped as a Top Gear presenter in March following a "physical and verbal attack" on show producer Oisin Tymon. A statement from the BBC's commercial arm said that "these events will not however feature any BBC Top Gear branding or content. We believe this is a sensible approach in the circumstances.” The global tour is set to last six months. Clarkson, in his first interview on the BBC since the "fracas", told Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans it was the "same show as it's been for last 10 years, it's just called a different name." Tickets are available online now for Clarkson, Hammond and May Live at Live Nation UK for all UK and Northern Ireland shows (Belfast, Sheffield, London) and are priced from £38. The tour continues across the globe to South Africa, Norway and Australia before returning to London in the Autumn. www.radiotimes.com/news/2015-05-22/who-is-this-man-in-a-white-racing-suit-appearing-in-clarkson-hammond-and-may-live-exclusive-video

FORMER TOP GEAR TRIO MAKE TRIUMPHANT RETURN AT CLARKSON, HAMMOND AND MAY LIVEAnd they were joined by a new, old "Stig"
By Will Dron Published 22 May 2015 THEY ARE no longer performing under the Top Gear name but Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond turned it up to 11 in classic style on the first night of their "new" live tour. The show, which is now called Clarkson, Hammond & May Live, kicked off tonight at the Belfast Odyssey Arena. It was the first time the former Top Gear trio had performed together since Clarkson was suspended by the BBC over a "fracas" with a producer of the TV show in March. The show opened with Hammond and May roaring into the arena on motorbikes before Clarkson joined them on a hovercraft. Clarkson described hovercrafts as "brilliant" but Hammond was less than impressed, recalling the less than successful customised Transit van hovercraft from series 20 of Top Gear. "Ah, but for legal reasons none of that ever happened," said Clarkson in a playful reference to the fact that the three are currently not working for the BBC. He continued: "Nothing we've done has ever happened ... in fact we've never met." The show was littered with such references along with typically risqué quips. In one sequence the three men came up with "a new idea for a TV show" in which they drive fast cars and say, "Powerrr!" – because "there is no such programme on TV at the moment". Their deliberately lacklustre attempt at such a TV programme, filmed last month for the live show and involving a Chevrolet Corvette Z06, Porsche 911 Turbo and Mercedes-AMG GTS, could be interpreted as a vision of the future of Top Gear without them. The video concluded with Clarkson saying: "And on that bomb explosion, back to the arena." "Why did you say that and not, 'And on that bombshell'?" demanded Hammond. "Legal reasons," came the reply. Perhaps the highlight of the night was a second part of the Corvette, Porsche and Mercedes-AMG head-to-head, in which a former Stig turned up to put the three cars to the test properly. The footage showed a "tame racing driver" character living as a homeless vagrant in a pit garage. The driver, dressed in scruffy white overalls, was described as someone who "claimed to have worked on a car programme in the past" and was named as "the Ben Collins" – the real name of the driver most associated with the man in white Nomex – and not the Stig, to which BBC Worldwide owns the rights. Collins, who is now a stunt driver for the James Bond movies, was famously axed from Top Gear after revealing his identity in an autobiography. He was the second Stig, appearing in 2003-10. Other highlights of Clarkson, Hammond & May Live involved a parade of exotic supercars collectively worth £3.4m, and a race between a Nissan GT-R and the British champion heptathlete Louise Hazel. The show concluded with a crowd-pleasing game of "car lacrosse" (the traditional "car football" was off for "for legal reasons"). Clarkson, Hammond and May will perform two more shows tomorrow and a further two shows on Sunday before moving to Sheffield on June 5-7. The show then heads to Johannesburg, South Africa, on June 12-14, Stavanger, Norway on June 19-21, Perth and Sydney, Australia, on July 18-19 and July 25-26 respectively, and Warsaw, Poland, on October 24. The tour then concludes back in England at the London O2 arena on November 28-29. Clarkson, Hammond & May Live - Belfast & Sheffield highlights

We went to Sheffield to see the Saturday afternoon show, and I can definitely say this was the best show I have ever seen from the TG3, and I've been every year since they started.
There's little point in my describing what they did, as the spoiler sections on this thread have already done that. Also, there are many who have yet to see the show, both home and abroad. However, here are a few observations....
The red car seen in the above video is the Alfa Romeo 4C, which I'd not seen before, I fell in love with it the moment it drove into the arena. In fact, I said to my Bloke, "OK, I'm taking that home with me". It reminded me very much of the Lotus Europa I had many, many moons ago.
The stunt teams were even better than I've seen in previous years. There were moments when I actually had my hand over my mouth as the tension was so great, and I whooped a lot too (I can be a bit more reserved in these situations, believe it or not, but not this time!). Some of the ideas that have been used in the past have really been allowed to develop technically and are now stunningly brilliant.
The guys were hugely funny and the patter between them was hilarious. Very sweary too, without the constraints of the BBC, and though Clarkson apologised early on to parents, that didn't stop them. Hopefully no-one was offended, but certainly the family behind me, with young(ish) children, thought it was a hoot.
Yet again, the guys proved they really do know how to drive (though there are spoilers that I won't give away!).
There were some sideways comments about the BBC that were clearly legally permissible but sailed pretty close to the wind. Very funny.
The show, at just short of two hours, was seriously good value for money. Everyone worked very, very hard. I do have concerns, though, about Jeremy's bad back, he really seemed to be suffering and I hope he can get it sorted out soon.
I could go on, but these seem to be the main things I can say without spoiling too many surprises for those who still have to see the show and don't want want too much info beforehand (or for those in other countries who won't get chance to see it).
Many thanks also to Mayfayre and her Bloke, who made it a really pleasant day (conversation, meals, wine etc)

I second everything Dit says! They were on really good form, taking the piss out of themselves wonderfully. Some of the films they showed had me almost crying with laughter! I took loads of photos and there are just a few of them Here on Photonucket There are s few video clips as well, which are processing at the moment, so I'll post a link to them when they're done. We had a lovely weekend with great company, then finished it off with a day out at Chatsworth and a fantastic Thai meal in Matlock before heading home Video is cooked now:

Stunt cyclist run over … in rehearsals for Clarkson, Hammond & May Live show (+ video)Andrei Burton misses opening dates in Belfast and Sheffield, but will rejoin TV presenters for Johannesburg datesby Simon MacMichael May 27, 2015 Andrei Burton Big Start Road Trip YouTube stillA stunt cyclist rehearsing for the opening date of a world tour by former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May, sustained broken bones after being run over by a car in rehearsal.Trials rider Andrei Burton was performing a stunt on top of a car shortly before the start in Belfast of the first date of the Clarkson, Hammond & May Live tour, renamed from Top Gear Live after the trio’s departure from the BBC. According to the London Evening Standard, the 29-year-old broke two metatarsal bones, meaning he missed the opening three dates of the tour in Belfast, and following a CT scan yesterday he will also have to sit out a three-night visit to Sheffield the weekend after next. However, he should return to the tour for its third stop, Johannesburg, in mid-June, after which it visits Stavanger, Perth, Sydney and Warsaw, before concluding in London in November. At today’s launch of the Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle, where he was back on his bike doing tricks, the 29-year-old told the Standard: “I’m the only person in the world who rides on cars while they’re actually driving. “We developed a sequence where I’m riding from car to car. It’s a lot of fun but unfortunately the car drove over me... I missed the first show and I’m going to miss the second as well.” He added that Clarkson, Hammond and May had been "really nice" about the incident. Burton, who has been touring with the TV presenters since 2012, had a happier experience in Northern Ireland last year – doing stunts at locations such as Titanic Belfast for a promotional video ahead of the start of the Giro d’Italia. road.cc/content/news/152787-stunt-cyclist-run-over-rehearsals-clarkson-hammond-may-live-show-video Stunt cyclist injured in Top Gear live rehearsal pulls out tricks despite two broken bonesRun over: Professional mountain bike trials rider Andrei Burton broke two bones
MIRANDA BRYANT Published: 27 May 2015 Updated: 10:03, 27 May 2015 A stunt cyclist who was injured in rehearsals for the live show featuring former Top Gear presenters Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May today put on a brave face at the launch of the Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle event - despite having broken two bones. Professional mountain bike trials rider Andrei Burton was supposed to feature in the new world tour of Clarkson, Hammond & May Live - renamed after Clarkson was sacked by the BBC - but had to pull out of the first show in Belfast at the last minute after he was run over in rehearsal minutes before the start. After being rushed to hospital, doctors said Burton, 29, broke two metatarsals and yesterday had to have a CT scan. Although he said it is likely he will also miss the second stop on the tour in Sheffield, he hopes to rejoin the tour in Johannesburg, South Africa in three weeks. He today put on a brave face by attending the launch of Prudential RideLondon FreeCycle today at Leadenhall Market. Burton, who has been touring with the Top Gear presenters since 2012 and rides on cars while they are moving in a sequence for the new show, said they were “really nice” about his injury and gave him a shout out in the Belfast show. He said: “I’m the only person in the world who rides on cars while they’re actually driving. We developed a sequence where I’m riding from car to car. It’s a lot of fun but unfortunately the car drove over me... I missed the first show and I’m going to miss the second as well.” He said the National Urban Trials competition in Green Park on August 1 would be “pretty spectacular”. www.standard.co.uk/news/london/stunt-cyclist-injured-in-top-gear-live-rehearsal-pulls-out-tricks-despite-two-broken-bones-10277962.html

Exclusive: Clarkson, Hammond and May tease their final live shows: 'It's the end of the beginning'
"It won't be like the final Monty Python show because we won't be that funny."
18 NOVEMBER 2015 BY TOM EAMES Jeremy Clarkson, Richard Hammond and James May have reminisced about their previous live shows ahead of their final UK dates at the end of the month. In quotes exclusive to Digital Spy, the former Top Gear stars promised that while they may be their final live shows, it is very much not the end for the boys. Richard said: "It'll be tremendous! It won't be like the final Monty Python show because we won't be that funny, and it isn't our last hurrah." James added: "It's what Churchill called the end of the beginning." When asked how they characterise their relationship, Jeremy joked: "We're Piglet, Wol and Tigger. Which is which? That's not hard to tell. James May is not Tigger. He's Wol; he thinks he's clever, but can't actually spell 'Owl'." After taking in 19 countries, 32 cities and 2.2 million fans, their world tour comes to a close at London's O2 arena on November 27, 28 and 29. Speaking about the tour, Jeremy said: "We have laughed and laughed and laughed all around the world and virtually wiped ourselves out physically and emotionally, but we've done it and we're looking forward to finishing off in London town." Featuring a host of stunts and sequences, the shows also include an impressive car collection including Bond's Aston Martin DB10, a Bentley Continental GT3R, a Koenigsegg One: 1, a Lamborghini Aventador Superveloce and a Porsche 918. The trio are currently working on their new currently-untitled Amazon show, which is expected to arrive in 2016. Tickets for the O2 shows are available at Live Nation. www.digitalspy.com/tv/top-gear/news/a774444/clarkson-hammond-and-may-tease-final-live-shows-before-multi-million-amazon-prime-show/

Apparently the last performance of the tour at the O2 was quite emotional, and the boys bowed out with the old band getting together and playing 'Mustang Sally'. I'm sure it will appear on YouTube or similar before long, but for now here are a couple of stills I found on Twitter - I don't know who's singing, but I'm pretty positive that the backing singers are Richard's Mindy, James' Sarah and Jeremy's Phillipa.

After seeing a bigger pix and more Googling I learned Chris Hughes is The Brand Events chief, founder, boss etc who launched MPH which later turned into Top Gear Live and was renamed Clarkson, Hammond and May Live after "the fracas" Chris Hughes: The Man with a Brandposted on: 23/11/2015 20:18:47 Chris Brand Events From ballet, scotch eggs to working with the Top Gear gang, Chris Hughes, tells the story of how he started Brand Events and made the business a key player in the industry. "Motoring onThrough a chance encounter between Hughes and Jeremy Clarkson, the idea was sprung to start a car show where the cars moved and the visitors sat down. “Up until then, car shows were full of stationary vehicles. Jeremy had the vision of bringing car shows to arenas.” Starting in 2003 as MPH, the show lost money for the first couple of years. However, concerns about the future of the show were nipped in the bud by Simon Kimble - a partner of the show. “Kimble is such a ballsy character and a brilliant entrepreneur,” enthuses Hughes. “He kept saying, ‘no keep going, it’s going to be good’.” Kimble was right and big things started happening for MPH. The growing success of the TV show, turned the tide, with the trio becoming more popular, the adventures abroad and also Hammond’s very well publicised brush with death, in a serious crash – “all these things coincided,” says Hughes. In 2007, MPH turned into Top Gear Live in a JV with the BBC. Top Gear Live went worldwide, with each tour more successful and ambitious. However, there was trouble ahead. “Obviously this year there has been a tricky situation in the press,” notes Hughes." read more : www.exhibitionnews.co.uk/featuredetails/393/chris-hughes-the-man-with-a-brand

Ah, Chris Hughes. A couple of years ago James tweeted 'Chris Hughes is an arse'. That was at the time of one of the TGLs (2012, I think it was). There was a bit of concern as to whether there'd been some sort of big row - Hughes was the events organiser for TGL, I believe - but it became more likely that it might be to do with Hughes being a bit of a prankster and 'good for a laugh'(though irritating at times). Clearly he's held in high regard with the lads if they chose him to be the vocalist on the last Live performance - for now, anyway!

I asked someone who was at the show, who was on vocals, she said "That is the famous Mr Chris Hughes!" I'm not sure who that is twitter.com/VintageBarbara/status/671048047065985024 twitter.com/jane_brewer/status/671047830212100096 Interesting to trip across my own photos on here, though glad to say they have been attributed. Anyone who's been around this for long knows who Chris Hughes is. He's the promoter, he's also their mate. Sometimes mates are arses. JB.
