James May’s Magnificent Machines: Top Gear star James May and Phil Dolling examine the tipping points—when technologies such as the car or the internet became unstoppable—and get up close to the nuts and bolts of remarkable inventions. 7 pm Sun 1st June. Last night of the festival. Can't find details of signings. (Avoided all references to getting close to nuts.) Jezza also appearing on a different day but returned tickets only. www.hayfestival.com

I would just like to say that I have decided to go to this event I booked the ticket today. Why not? I was going to spend the money on Thundersprint anyway. I will take my video camera & try if allowed to film James & make it available to all board members again. & I will write a review. I cant wait to see James again. so excited.

Sorry if i sound thick, but is there an admission fee as well as the fee to see James?

Ta, DD. One of my friends was a bit dubious about paying an admission fee AND paying to see James. She likes him but not that much ;D Anyway, at least it looks like i wont be needed workwise on that Sunday up the pub, now a case of seeing if i can get the Monday off. Aint attempting to book anything until i know we can all go, or at least 2 of us.

Wish I could go but I'm skint and in Plymouth, which makes getting there rather awkward...

There's no extra admission fee - they mentioned that when I rang them to see how many tickets were left.

I would like to add anyone who is thinking of going that accomodation is getting hard to find. I called quite a few places before I found something suitable. I found 3 with vacancies but one was 12 miles away from Hay.

I think James Might do a signing as he has re released his book. when I called the box office to book the event I asked if I would be able to meet James & the person said that He might do a book signing but wasnt sure. I feel positive its going to happen but dont get your hopes up.

Right, after many minutes on the AA route planner & them not having heard of Hay on Wye but at least they know where my mum's place is, ive worked it out approximately 42 miles? Nearly 20 miles nearer than from where i live. And the route looks pretty straight forward as it's just onto the A40 & then the A483. I think. Just need to confirm with my 2 friends if they still want to come with me plus stay at my mum's place for the weekend...one of them will be driving im afraid, not me Who knows i might be joining you but not promising anything yet...

So the route planner doesn't want you to go to France or Outer Mongolia or something?!

No, but if i was to follow the directions on there that's probably where id end up Just as well not me driving then ;D
