Just looked at the comments again. I'm finding James referred to as a "known dingbat" unexpectedly amusing. Also happy to see more from Fusker.

Nitpicky Nora is out sorry love I'm not at school, uni, college or anywhere, I DON'T CARE I'M THE READING COMMENTS not your stupid English lesson totally detest it when anyone goes on about anyones mistakes, it's embarrassing not only for the person concerned and teaches nothing only the one who has made the mistake, making them feel stupid. So get a job proof reading books and correct the grammar there.....end of rant on that point, bloody pickbrain Anyway fusker is back ;D

Quite agree. Hate people who are so rude as to pick up on the way people speak, or spell, although have to say the spelling in this country is atrocious (checks dictionary).

I'm an editor by trade and wouldn't dream of picking apart someone's grammar. Not unless I'm paid to do so, however.

I recently dropped out of another forum,non-TG related, because of someone always picking at grammer and spelling. And she never even picked on me. It just made for a bad atmosphere. I'm loving the fact that some people think James is just roaming around, alone, for his own amusement.

I accidently posted this in the wrong thread, so I copied it here. Lew and Stigalious had already replied to it, but as it are their postings, I won't copy them as well. (Am I making any sense today? ) Meanwhile some new comments have gone up. James_Lover has noticed that Fusker has American roots, as he uses words like vacuum and thrashed. Hmmmm. And James_Lover is angry about this comment: Every week - every week the same oddbods with strange 'lurve you James' messages. It might make him cringe but it sure as hell makes me laugh. A lot! I must say I quite agree. I do think James feels somewhat embarrassed by those posts. I think he prefers getting some stick from us or, as Richard mentioned it during the Chris Moyles interview: "He thrives on it".

Probs ;D I say let the man have his caravan if he wants it, let people write in declaring their lurve if they want too (tis a free country) and let people spell words how they bloody well like! *rant over* ;D Before you ask I don't comment, my spelling is too crappy and at the minute I can't think of nothing but smutty remarks about his buttocks

Im very wary of putting anything too flattering- if I like the column I'll usually say, but flattery has the ability to destroy a person. I'd hate to think of it someday getting to James' head and changing him. And theres no saying 'this is James, it'll never get to him'; it gets to everyone eventually and it'd be devestating...

Im a teacher and I hate people correcting others as well. They forget this is the internet so technically using abbreviations and text speak is completely allowed. Although, this is the telegraph and the sort of people who roam around it are that nitpicky kind. I have my blogs picked to bits on there but it doesnt put me off. I can't always be putting in apostrophes and capitals for 'i' because i do actually have a life and I am far too lazy to do it! Simple as! And as for all those 'men' (should I say boys) who are constantly, week in and week out, making comments about the 'james lovers' and the constant stream of unashamed admiration, I would say its a James May column- hes going to get that sadly! Comes with the territory and he is prob well used to it by now! I honestly think it's jealousy! Men cant handle other guys getting so many compliments, especially famous ones I find. They get all defensive and then pretend they are just 'sticking up for the moral high ground' 'He's just a normal bloke' etc etc. Rubbish- you're just a normal bloke and you resent it!!!! Losers!

You know the funny thing about all this, is the people who read the comments that others make and then post their own comment to criticise or moan about others' posts, haven't a leg to stand on! It's like the pot calling the kettle black. I read the comments yesterday afternoon because I was tired and feeling lazy. The end result - I got incensed by the same person (presumably) that Lew referred to as Nitpicky Nora. I sat down to compose a comment in defence of people (and one very sweet, well-meaning person in particular ) who make mistakes. Then I thought better of it and, decided I would just look pathetic, no matter how reasonable or polite I worded my response and left it! But the audacity of her! GRRR! I think Lew probably has the right attitude - no more comments! Or maybe for me, for the time being, no reading of comments! Perhaps they should carry a health warning: "Whilst some of the comments below may be relevant and concur with your own views, in an amusing or thought -provoking way, others may cause your blood pressure to rise. Read on at your own risk!"

I saw these posts and tutted and shook my fist at my monitor and generally wasn't a happy bunny. It wasn't necessary for that person to comment on how other people use the English language, even James (but he has a dungeon, what can you say ). I see the comments and as long as I get the meaning of the message it doesn't worry me too much. The same goes for the adoration posts, no harm in it. Although he gets stick for it, it's not as much as Richard who is constantly on the TV ad breaks (this is actually light relief given all the high cholesterol, claim for damages, you are doing to die adverts) I do post, usually, my embarassing moments and comments which relate to the column. I haven't recently because I can't think of anything half decent to write except:- 'James you pillock why have you got a caravan? and yes you are turning into a tortoise and when you aren't towing the room on wheels it can be used as a mobile shed/junk room.'

Carbon fibre shoe horn? Pray tell what use has this item in a dungeon? Dungeon or cellar? *body language displays uncomfortable twitchiness, wonders if needs ignorance replaced with uneasy aura of knowledge, slopes off sheepishly to another thread*

Interesting column fact peeps James has reused this idea from this week's column in the September TG Magazine column. I don't mind because considering he's spent the good part of the last few weeks blotto I don't blame him. I'm surprised no one has spotted this

I'm reading your comments here as I've read the ones today on DT. Wow. Lots of strong feelings, I'll say. I have to agree with y'all. Those grammar Nazis and jealous males are pathetic. I make plenty of mistakes. It's part of being human. Everyone makes mistakes. Even the ones making a big deal about a few minor grammar errors that no one else really cares about. They made the mistake of being jerks on a public forum where not only is there alot of fan loyalty, but the man we respect and admire deeply reads it too. And who cares what nationality someone is - anyone in the world can like James and post to his column. All of you know how I feel about James, because we all feel like that about him. <3 <3 <3 But those people who like to nit pick and belittle others for simple little mistakes that James probably doesn't care about himself are hurting other people's feelings and making a very bad impression on James and everyone else. Those ones are bullies, and I hates bullies of all sorts with a passion. I tell you, if I were being attacked and having my grammar disected, I'd quote the Bible with the verse (I can't remember which section of the Bible it's from, but it's an all time favourite quote), "Before removing the splinter from your Brethran's eye, first you must remove the plank from your own eye."

MG as you said that I've just picked up the new TG Mag and was flicking through it. Ooh are there any freebies? Since my interests do not extend to motoring in general, I am rather parsimonious when it comes to the mag, after all I can read the column on line! Edited to include DD's comments as quite a bit of water under bridge while I typed!

I know what you mean, Dutch. Some people are just so small minded that the only way they can build themselves up is to hurt other people. I just think that's so unfair. Sorry, Linden.
