In case anybody's interested... there's now an official campsite for Thundersprint this year. Details and booking form available on Monday 15th March Oops, just realised that date isn't right, but that's what it says on the site!

Ok people sorry to say that I am the one that is going to bring you the bad news but James is not going to make it this year again. DD got this email from Frank this evening
Dear Lorraine I spoke with JM a couple of days ago and I have been meaning to write to you ever since. Unfortunately he has had to withdraw from the Thundersprint. He is building a plasticine garden at the RHS Show in London and the Queen is coming to see it - and James. For some reason, the TV company feel that meeting the Queen is more important than JM riding in the Thundersprint. Here is a message from James which I would be grateful if you could circulate to as many JM fans as possible. I also hope that you will stress just how welcome we will make all James' fans who want to come to the Thundersprint. We have a packed weekend of entertainment and all the details are on our website. Clearly, we will all miss James but we will still have a great weekend with everything from world famous bike racers to an aerobatic display by a Spitfire and a fine food centre. Best of all, admission, parking and grandstands are all free of charge. I am not just being polite when I say that we really do like JM fans who always impress us with their courtesy, kindness and enthusiasm, so I do hope that some of you will still join us. I will send this letter to some others who have written to us and hopefully no-one will arrive in Northwich expecting to see James. With very best wishes Frank
From James: "I’m extremely disappointed not to be at this year’s Thundersprint, the greatest motorcycling event in Cheshire and probably the world, but I have to meet the Queen. And I don’t mean Jeremy Clarkson. It’s especially galling as I had race-prepared my Honda C70 Cub by fitting a new spark plug and pumping the tyres up a bit. I hope you all have an excellent day despite my absence.”

It's a shame but I had such a good time there last year that I'm not going to let it put me off going at all.

I'm very sorry for those of you who had hoped to meet James at Thundersprint. I'm quite pleased about him meeting the queen though. I'm wondering what shirt he is going to wear and if his mum is going to get him a hair cut beforehand. ;D

The organiser of Thundersprint and a very nice man from what I've seen of his e-mails. What a gentleman.
And oh dear, that's a shame. But the Queen and James can wear his best jeans and crown, or a suit ;D

I think it's very sad that people decide whether or not to go to an event that is this much fun based on whether or not one person is riding in the sprints. Won't stop me from going - I'd decided after last year that I was going regardless of the guest list so I'll be there enjoying myself ;D PS: Going to meet Her Maj... whatever next I'm sure James would much rather be riding his bike, but well done, him

Sorry Wy but, as much fun as the event is, essentially I was going to see James, and the weekend wasn't going to be cheap with two night's stay, fares, other expenses etc... so I'm afraid I have to save the money

Me too MF, but as I said, I'd be lying if I said James wasn't the main attraction, and as much as I love you guys, I simply can't afford to spend the money just on a weekend away.

There will be coverage on the BBC for Chelsea, so no doubt he'll be interviewed by Alan Titchmarsh about it.

I loved every minute of it last year and would be going again (James or no James) but didn't book because of impending doggie maternal duties. Turns out that will be the end of May (fingers crossed) so I could have gone Never mind. There's always another time. Have a great time
