When they were having the race to the ski resort in TG, Richard said that if they didn't run, Jeremy would win and to think of the smugness and James, refusing to run, said to Richard in reply "My soul is prepared".

I would love James to get together with Professor Stephen Hawking, my middle boy is into all that stuff, goes over my head though (The theory of everything), though I do find it mind blowingly interesting.....off to throw flowers ;D

I've put this on the programme alert thread, but this is on Dave tomorrow (Sunday) at 9pm, not 10pm as they originally advertised.

I always fill up when we see the shots he took from the U2. Yes, of course his enthusiasm is part of it but it's the combination of his sense of awe, the music, the sheer beauty of the view and the awareness of how very special our world is that affects me.
I think that before I go to bed I shall watch "...at the edge of space" to complete the experience.

I must say here that James On The Moon/At The Edge of Space has to be my absolute favorite program that he's ever done. I love it even more than Toy Stories. The first time I ever saw it, I was filled with such an immense amount of respect for James. What he did took balls of brass and am still in awe that he went through with it. I get something in my eye every time I see it.

Balls of cast iron, more like! ;D I also like this show very much. As much as I love the 'Dragon Lady', I don't think I'd want to fly in one, so I have a lot of respect for those who do, and have done so. I like aeroplanes but, to be honest, I'm happier with my feet on the ground.

I'm so glad James May on the Moon was broadcast here last week and I got the chance to see it. The Vomit Comet was hilarious - I loved it how he kept on saying "sorry" for flying uncontrollably into people, and cacking himself laughing. ;D
The show really highlighted to me how brilliant James is as a presenter. From what I've seen, particularly on non-TG shows, James is just so...James. No pretense, no ego; just honesty, integrity and a genuine interest in the subject matter. What you see is what you get...and that doesn't happen too often these days in showbiz. (In fact, anywhere.)

Massive bump... I'm obviously a complete nuffy because I didn't realise that James May on the Moon and James May at the Edge of Space were two different programmes. Good thing then that I bothered to record the latter, which was just on TV. I always wondered how I missed so many "spacey" screencaps - now I know why! Very much enjoyed the show. James did very well considering the torture training he had to go through. Must admit I felt slightly ill when he felt worse for wear after the first go in the spacesuit. (The wine I drank before watching the show probably didn't help...)

I didn't know they were different shows either Pie. It was a great show wasn't it? Felt very sorry for the poor mite when he didn't cope with the suit very well. "Please don't film it..." awwww.

Super-massive bump!
Just caught James May On The Moon on BBC4 as part of the BBC's tribute to 50 years since the moon landings.
Brilliant documentary, excellent presentation, very moving at times, great music. Had me and Bloke rivetted. I hadn't seen it for several years and there was so much I'd forgotten. Lucky James (and brave!) to have been allowed that experience.
