Friends and family like that is such a joy to have, and a joy to hear about. I'm renewing my husbands pedestal, btw. He's just now outside washing my car. Unasked. (Since my tendonitis is on its 5th month, and still going strong. Or maybe it's something else, I don't know anymore, really.) I'm also adding some colleagues up there, who always remembers my health problem and ask if they can help me. Or just does things I would normally do, but can't. Like carrying my suitcase on work trips, or simple things like watering the plants at work. They make my (shortened) work days a lot easier, and I love them for it.

I'm putting my brother and my son on here. My brother for his support with his wise advice and my son and his family for them being who they are. My grandson for his wit and academic achievement. I haven't seen any of them since Christmas. I want to add my grand fur babies Wallee a golden lab, and Grover a Scottish terrier mix. I with my cousin's family and I'll add them for a roof over my head. My best friend Linda also haven't seen her since Christmas. I don't have any friends because of my workman comp issues.

there isn't a pedestal big enough - for my son!
Today he left home , and headed off to Dubai to work on some of the worlds biggest, glamorous and breath-taking projects! What an opportunity for a 25 year old! The world is his oyster!

Sounds like you have some great family, both the 2 and 4 legged variety in your life. Keep them close always. Congrats to your son, Flat! What a wonderful opportunity!

Well. The boy needs a different pedestal!
Yesterday Mrs Flat got an emotional phone call! Her hard-as-nails little boy in (now) Saudi Arabia was crying his eyes out! He hates it! The site is a dump, the place he was given to live is a dump, its in the middle of no-where, his car/driver didn't exist. He had put up with 3 weeks of this, and now he has had enough! He is coming home!
Fair play to his boss. He has offered a better deal - to live in Dubai, which is a much nicer place - and said 'get your head around what you want to do, and just let me know'.
We will have to wait and see. Off to the airport now, and stopping off for a sausage sandwich for him on the way!

Awww, poor bloke. Even 25 year olds need their mum and dad! I thought it was Dubai he was going to in the first place. Can imagine Saudi is a totally different kettle of fish.

Too bad he's had a bit of a false start there, but kids his age are very resilient. He'll bounce back, and the experience will give him a better perspective on his next situation.

Yeah! He went to Dubai first while they sorted his Saudi visa - and then when he got to Saudi, he hated it! He has decided that the Middle East is not for him, and he has a couple of local interviews lined up for this week!
I have said he did the right thing. If he hadn't gone, he would have regretted it forever. Now, he knows, and now he can move on!
Onwards and upwards!

You have hit the proverbial nail on the head. Our kids need to find out for themselves what works. I'm glad your son found out he wasn't meant to be there. That is great that he's already got interviews lined up. Best of luck to him.

Cool SLF! I don't understand this shutdown thing but it sure seems awful over there.

Our founding fathers are probably rolling in their graves. The GOP better compromise or a lot of seniors and disabled may not get paid in November. I'm not usually one to voice political matters but this is just ridiculous. Great about the question SLF!
