I think you might have to stow away several other girlies in your luggage!! That OK i think James says its ok for women to have a lot of luggage so he would not be suspicious ;D Some lucky lady might even get to be carried by James if the wheel on the case were to break.

I don't think they need more women on TG - the audience behind the guys that is shown is mostly all women, so technically, a higher number of individual women are on the show then individual men.............probably.....
A woman presenter on TG would be a horrible thing. It isnt because its three men that it works, it works because it is those three people. Another man wouldnt work on the show either, it has nothing to do with sex.

LOL the comments are good. But I think everyone is missing a trick. Richard could easily put on a dress and make up and make a passable woman. He's pretty enough and we've all seen the photoshopped picture of him with eye liner.

She is annoying though. I find her very annoying. I have a Jeremy DVD and she was a 'guest' on it and I had to FF that part, she drove me nuts!! I daresay she is knowledgable about cars and stuff, but I just don't like her.

The difference I find with her, is that whilst she is knowledgable, I don't find her fun with it

Torygraph motoring journalist Erin Baker explains why she would be perfect for the job, but agrees Top Gear doesn't need a woman presenter. I doubt that a female presenter would attract more female viewers: plenty of women ardently follow Top Gear – witness the amount of post I get from female fans to pass onto this paper's motoring columnist, Top Gear presenter James May. The fact that his packages consist not of knickers but of tins of Spam and American hard gums is another matter. ;D

Thanks for including that, Linden. It's a good story with alot of good points. I still agree with the line, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it." It's one of those wait and see things, if it ever does happen.

It won't, I don't think that any of the TG team will ever bow down to a stupid politician and her inept policies.

First off, I don't agree with Harman in this respect. To introduce this kind of draconian approach in broadcasting would make many programmes unwatchable and cringeworthy. Editorial freedom is crucial to good entertainment.
Also, TG is blokey - but women are treated respectfully on the whole. Jeremy is blatantly respectful of the women in his life - his wife is his manager for goodness sakes and obviously feisty and clever; his Mum was a self starter from what I've read and a good business woman.
However, there is still sexism out there. I too believe that a person should be given a job based on merit alone. But where I work, if a talented woman gets a job, there are whisperings of positive discrimination from disgruntled men - sometimes women can't win.
Oh Lord - just thought of something! The use of a glam model in the next series could go down like a lead balloon with Harman and Co. On the one hand, there will be a woman seen on TG (fulfils criteria!!!!!), on the other hand, I don't think that's exactly what Harman wanted!!!!!! Could be trooble at mill....

Crumb's quote which I agree with, "Oh Lord - just thought of something! The use of a glam model in the next series could go down like a lead balloon with Harman and Co. On the one hand, there will be a woman seen on TG (fulfils criteria!!!!!), on the other hand, I don't think that's exactly what Harman wanted!!!!!! Could be trooble at mill...." I'd much rather see Sabine Shmitz or Gloria (the French designer) than it (nicest thing I could think of to call it) any day. I'm not watching that one when it's aired, personal choice, sorry. EDIT - Even Jodie Kidd would've been an improvement. I like her, especially on the 2004 special.

Well to be quite honest, the headline says it all. I do believe Clarkson went all 'laydee' like when Will Young went on the show. Any more feminism on the show would just be uncalled for! They are poncey enough in their own rights not to need a woman!

The show is perfect as it is. And as someone on here, I think, pointed out, the show works not because it is 3 blokes, but because it is those 3 blokes. All their personalities work so brilliantly together because they are all genuine friends. There are other shows out there who would kill for on screen chemistry like that.

Oh, for f**k sake...the Flail and Fail grabbing a must-read headline by using Beeb's most money-making programme is bloody typical.
Having said that though, I will say that the answer to Andy's comment,
'If the show is allegedly female-unfriendly, why is almost half the audience female?"
...weeeellllll, Andy, because the show itself specifies that it must be. If you don't believe me, go to the Audience website who distributes the tickets, and find out for yourself. Also, I will say that the obvious placement of attractive females front-of-house is annoying at best, and downright insulting at worst. No need to overstate the obvious, TG.
Having a female presenter on TG (at this time) is as ridiculous and un-bankable as having Gordon Ramsay co-starring on a future series of "Mistresses ".
The Laws of Finance dictate that it just won't happen
