Right, now I've had a rest, I shall continue!
I arrived a bit early, just so I could find the stand, and then the intention was that I could go off, have a look at some other bits and then return to the stand.
But I didn't want to go LOL, so I just went to get an icecream and then I went straight back and stayed until gone closing time. But that's the effect it had on me....when I did leave eventually, there were still people looking at the garden, and my thought was 'I don't want to leave it unprotected!'.
It looked brilliant! I'd seen so many bits of it being put together, and had worked on some parts myself, but seeing the final product was amazing. Really, seeing it in the papers and on the TV didn't do it justice, as there were so many small touches added that you wouldn't see unless you were right there to see them.
The reaction from the people was, in the main, very very good. There were one or two snotty comments, but most of the visitors liked it a lot. The kids, especially, which made me happy, because that's the whole idea of the garden (and the other projects in the series) - to get kids interested in things other than 'puter games.
My most asked question was - "what's the soil made of?". Duh - PLASTICINE! ;D
But really, seeing everybody's reaction to the garden has made it worth being up at stupid o'clock in the morning every morning for a week and a half. Was worth every scrape and cut,
*haz a huge proud*
Annnd - how could I forget THIS bit? I was on the BBC coverage last night *chuckles* If you watched it, I was the loon in the background behind Mr Titmarsh, in black trews and a black-and-gold striped top.

Play the footage - pause it at the right moment - press the 'Print Screen' button on the keyboard usually located above the number block on the right hand side - open 'Paint' or Photoshop if you have it - go to 'Edit-Paste' and then the image should appear - go to 'File-Save' and save it wherever you want and name it whatever you want too. Follow that and James is your Uncle For future reference, in case you fancy having a go yourself

From the RHS site... Yay!! ;D
"The winner of the small garden vote was never in doubt. From the moment the vote opened to the minute it closed James May's Plasticine in Paradise was way out in front. All the other gardens had a more-or-less equal share of the remaining votes."

YES!!! I'm so overjoyed with this - the public reaction has been absolutely wonderful (apart from the odd sniffy person) and yesterday it was quite overwhelming. Even the people who were a bit unsure when they arrived at the garden, once they'd heard a bit more about the thought processes and the work that had gone into it, left with an appreciation of what was achieved. I know I only played a small part really, but I'm quite moved. I may have a little weep now (in a good way).

He thanked us all for voting for him and was sorry he couldn't be at the show because he was making a spitfire! He said some other things too but he looked so gorgeous that I couldn't concentrate on what he was saying!

Aww. Lovely James! Would he appreciate it, do you think, if we as a group, made a card/big letter with personal congratulations in it and sent it to him?
