Had pizza a couple of hours back (from the grocery store) and... custard, as usual ;D

They all look absolutely delicious, Nat The first one looks pretty interesting, is it filled with only nuts? I just have a strawberry-rhubarb pie in the oven. Crust made of almond flour, on top of that a mixture of cottage cheese, eggs, lime juice (and a bit of stevia and psyllium) and then of course plenty of rhubarb and strawberries.

I made a strawberry-rhubarb pie two days ago, and I'm kind of intrigued, because I basically used a double pastry crust and there wasn't much to mine except fruit and sugar and nutmeg on the inside. Oh and some flour too. But I'd quite like to try yours out one of these days now. Nat, your pie pictures have made me hungry!

Oh Im sorry, Meimichan ;D I hope you have something in your house over there that can satisfy you *thinks of demanding satisfaction, but you're not who I want to duel* ;D Yeah, I can cook something here, but my kitchen is an absolute disaster. Needs cleaning. And it's hot enough I've kicked on the A/C. So the last thing I actually want to do is cook anything. Although if those promised thunderstorms come through, that should break up the heat.

Make some pudding, put it in a cookie crumb shell and refrigerate! No cooking necessary. ;D My nieces love it! Although I do feel a bit guilty accepting their praise when I didn't really do anything! ;D

Apple-cinnamon ice-cream I know, I know, I shouldn't really, but this back pain is driving me crazy, so I decided to forget about all rules for a while.. Bought some chocolate and strawberries, too. Self-medication can taste pretty sweet ;D (Probably end up with stomach ache as well... :

You should really see a doctor about your back (and I don't mean dr May). In the meantime, enjoy the strawberries, chocolate and ice-cream. I'm having some strawberries too because they were cheap(ish) and I'm still not able to teach today.

You should really see a doctor about your back (and I don't mean dr May). I have seen a doctor, last week. All she did was give me a prescription for painkillers and stretching instructions..and a bill Will have to go back if the pain persists.

All she did was give me a prescription for painkillers and stretching instructions.. and a bill (my emphasis) It's this sort of thing that makes me grateful for the NHS, despite its many faults. (If you work in the NHS, please don't tell me off, I've nothing but praise - well, more or less - for the way me and mine have been treated, but equally there are clearly some real problem areas.)

Ah yesss, DMC, even though I never sunbath, I'll pretend I do, so that I'll have a reason to eat LOADS of chocolate ;D Aeromanda, it's been a while since I had a watermelon! Usually eat these other ones, dunno what the English word is.... When it's going to be very hot here again, I'll have a watermelon! Grizabella, apple-cinnamon ice cream?? Don't know that one, just know custard/yoghurt-ish something with those flavours!! But it's good we don't have it here, or otherwise I'd eat a whole box every week.... or day... ;D

I used to make apple & cinnamon ice cream but I haven't done for ages. Maybe it's because I don't have an apple tree here like I did at my old house.
I've just been handed a bowl of veggies topped with what looks like cat sick. It does taste much better than I imagine cat sick would taste though!

Nothing at the moment, but tomorrow this: We just made this with my son. He wanted to taste it right away, luckily I had some cream left over so he could have that with strawberries. Midsummer just isn't midsummer without a strawberry cake. It doesn't feel like midsummer, though: there's a strorm approaching and the wind is already pretty impressive. P.S. No idea why these pics don't shrink This was supposed to be "small" according to the bucket..

Thanks. It's not actually a pie, but a cake. Simple things are the best: lots of strawberries and cream . Meimichan: the recipe is pretty simple: a sponge cake (or similar) cut to 3 layers. Brush on little strawberry juice or vanilla flavoured milk, fill with strawberry jam, strawberry slices and whipped cream (added some vanilla custard powder and sugar). Then just the strawberry halves on top (with some gelatin over them) and piped cream on the sides. Now having my morning coffee in peace and quiet. My son's still asleep and ex is at the garage fixing his car.

Wouldn't know the difference between a pie and a cake ;D Yea, I figured it's mainly strawberries and cream, heheh ;D I have been involved in very Serious Discussions of pie vs. cake. Mostly...is cheesecake a pie or a cake? I always took the position that if someone is talking about cheesecake, they had better serve me a slice or two very fast.
