It would appear that the version of Flash that I downloaded & installed this morning is not up to date enough to be able to play that viddeo. I hate Windows 7 already and I've not had it a week yet!

Love the T-shirt ;D Off to watch the Breeders Cup Classic live on line and see if Zenyatta can make it 20 unbeaten races out of 20. Whether she does or she doesn't, she is the Queen

Whether she does or she doesn't, she is the Queen Queen Z lost, but she looked like an eagle in flight as she charged down the stretch. Half a stride later she was past the 'winner,' Blame. Everyone is praising her courage. The Horse of the Year debate is swinging heavily her way. I'm not sure what to make of that mincing Pink Stig. Too much inbreeding? If only they'd started this farm sooner -- Black Stig could have been retired to stud.

Everyone is praising her courage. The Horse of the Year debate is swinging heavily her way. Mike Smith was way too cocky dropping her sooooo far out the back. Only the Queen could have made up so much ground to get 2nd by a short head. I watched it live and with another stride I think she would have got up. Can't wait to see where/what they decide to do with her in the paddocks Loved the vid but Pink Stig was quite scarey As for Black Stig being allowed to reproduce, if you have been around this place long enough, you would have read all about his evil carryings on (see very old (but very very excellent) fics

Now the former solder, 35, has risked deepening the split with his former colleagues -including Jeremy Clarkson and James May - by holding on to The Stig's iconic overalls.
What has happened to Richard?? ;D ;D
Ben seems to be a pyromaniac! He's burning his bridges just as fast as he can. One day he'll be standing in the middle of one burning at both ends.

.....yikes. I used to think Ben was a decent guy who didn't think before he acted.
Now I think he's a gloryhound.
Why couldn't he have waited another year or two? Top Gear would be over, he could reveal himself (or not) without censure, and they probably would have given him the outfit. Now he just looks greedy.

I was talking to one of the Top Gear Live production team when I was in Birmingham and it was quite interesting to hear how they handled the whole Stig issue for the live show. Apparently a big part of what hurt people in the TG family wasn't so much what Ben did in writing the book - a lot was driven by the publishers offering a lot of money and pushing to publish when they did - but in the timing. Nobody would have objected if he'd waited, but what was galling was that if he felt that ill-used and underpaid (and consider that Top Gear was just one of a portfolio of jobs he did with his driving company, not his sole employment), why did he put up with it for seven years without objection?
I won't go into details in case they take the same Stig solution onto the world tour, but the way it was handled - rather than the traditional Stig-based finale alone, and not just the 'Stig Farm' film either - was very much a response to the whole 'what do we do now?'

There's an interesting article on the BBC News website, but I'm taking it over to the spoilers thread in case people don't want to read it yet.

Bit of a bump, but on a busy press day for things TG, this article about Ben Collins appeared in the Mail on Sunday's Live magazine. It's actually quite interesting, though I don't feel the same way about his car reviews. www.dailymail.co.uk/home/moslive/article-1355273/The-Stig-Top-Gears-mystery-stuntman-test-drives-executive-saloons.htmlI particularly noticed "To make things worse, his former colleagues took to cursing 'sacked Stig' on air, comparing him to Judas Iscariot and dressing up a shooting range target as Stig before shooting it in the back. James May said in print that they should 'go round to The Stig's house, nail his head to the table and take their overalls back'.
Surely that hurt?
'I always liked James and when I read that particular piece I phoned to see whether he really felt that way,' says Collins. 'Anyone would want to know whether his friends really hated him that much. James said he was just joking. I haven't spoken to the other two... I think it's mostly for show.'
Perhaps not. The fact that Collins is now represented by the same agent as Piers Morgan cannot be helping, given the feud between Morgan and Jeremy Clarkson."

You know, I really liked that article. What I liked best was that regardless of the provocation, Mr Collins never slagged off the show or the people behind it. It was quite obvious that the journalist was trying to provoke a reaction by going on about Bedder 6 and how valuable the Stig image is to them. I'm hugely impressed that he didn't rise to it, and that the Mail didn't get the juicy gossip they so clearly would have loved to use in their 'we hate The BBC and we hate Top Gear' campaign.
Well played, that man.

Eclair and myself have discussed this to no end.... Yes we lead boring lives ;D ;D It is a real shame that Ben Collins decided to do what he has. Eclair thought it may have been because the other 3 have book deals and the are making a mint of the Stig and he is probably not seeing the profits from it. However just because your boss earns more money than you doesn't mean you have to steal it.... does it?
