Around 45 degrees today and has been about 80% humidity for the last week..... When will it end? I'm melting! 45 C! Ugh! Nevermind, I'll stop whining about my 35 C.

I think we may be feeling the end of summer here. 80-ish this weekend.

This must be about the 7th straight day where we've been subjected to the tropical weather brought about by the remnants of Hurricane Isaac. It's been hot and very humid, but it won't rain at all. There are very dark clouds about but it seems they go away and we're left with nothing.

I am in DC and with the rain just pelting down outside, it is almost impossible to see across the park. Lord knows we need this rain!
I read that there was an unconfirmed report of a tornado in New York City this morning. Will wonders never cease to exist?

I've just driven home about 30 miles from East Lancashire, the last 10 of which were in thick fog. We don't get much of it round here, so people slow their driving right down, the result of which was a 6 mile bumper-to-bumper tailback on the M55 of people leaving Blackpool and trying to get onto the M6. Luckily, I was going in the opposite direction.
(I know that those of you not in the UK won't recognise the local references, but I imagine you'll get the gist.)

My cousin and I were up in West Virginia near the Shenandoah River. It rained on the way near Frederick and on the way back was mostly clear. We saw a double rainbow. Cousin's roommate called and said there was no power in PG county. I looked on cell phone and the power went out at 2:15. Got home and getting candles, etc when low and behold we had power around 8:30. I am not used to these outages. All these above wires drive me crazy. Bury lines people.

I actually went through that storm twice yesterday, once in Frederick and a second time in Washington. Although the lights flickered, we never lost power. The wind howled and the rain came down sideways.
On the up side, it is a stunningly beautiful day here, with blue skies and *gasp* very low humidity and cooler temperatures. I don't think it will even hit 80.

Upper 70s here today with lots of sunshine. Should be beautiful and sunny again tomorrow, just perfect to spend the last day of the season at the pool. Nothing like keeping the tan going!

Bit of a turnaround, Lynnemezzo!
Starting to feel distinctly autumnal here, even though the sun has been out. It's cool in the mornings and getting chilly at night. Not that we'd notice much difference. Truly the worst summer I can remember - and I'm quite old.

Amie8, I am so ready for this summer season to be over. July here was the hottest on record, and I wouldn't be surprised if August wouldn't be the same. I'm looking forward to "sweater weather" and being able to walk someplace without having to drag a handkerchief across my forehead. Parts of the county where I live actually registered over 4 inches of rain today, which would have been over 40 inches of snow! Considering the fact that we had NO snow this past winter, it would be nice to have some in the coming winter.

Hosing it down here in the UK again - in every part of the country I think. Ah...doesn't this just remind you of...well, July? The house opposite has a blocked gutter and the rainwater is cascading onto the pavement below, which means several trips to the bathroom for me before I finally get to sleep tonight

Again, shush you people with rain and lovely coolness. It's still baking here. My orchids are all but dead, my water bill and electric bill are huge! Please stop now mister sun. You've made your point.

And....yet again, for approximately the fourth time this year, the brook is overflowing into my back garden. Damn good job the house is higher up (terrace level). The whole garden is about six inches under water and the squirrels are doing backstroke.
Weird, I've been in this house most of my adult life and it's only flooded around once every five years. Just goes to show how bad it's been here this year. The road outside is flooded too, though passable. Annoyingly, I've got to go out tonight (first dress rehearsal, can't skive off I'm afraid of the Director) otherwise I'd be curled up on the sofa with the telly. (That's watching the telly, not giving it a cuddle).

You are getting all the rain I need. So many trees are brown, and have been for months, that autumn will be a colorless disappointment, I fear.
I guess I shouldn't complain, though. It could be the flood of '93, and nobody wants that again. Or Snowpocalypse. That was fun (not really).
It'd be an interesting contest: who talks more about the weather? The British, or Missouri farmers?

I remember the flood of '93. I drove home from Denver to help my mother's family basically move a whole town out of the way of the Mississippi and the Missouri rivers. Old people were even out there sandbagging the levees.

It has been a perfectly beautiful autumn weekend. The leaves are at their peak and it was fine for a nice drive in the country. Wish it could be like this until winter comes along. And speaking of winter, it would be nice to have something which passes for "winter" this year!

Its stinkin' here and I hate it . There is no such thing as Spring in Queensland, its winter and then its a few days of mild and then we're up to 30 deg C again, bah! No rain for ages and the grass and everything is brown/dying. Its only October! *rants*

Feeling your pain Eclair. Tired of crunching out the backyard to hang out the washing, then crunching back 20 minutes later, clothes bone dry. What was the fire danger today, with the wind? Off the scale I reckon.

Looks like we're going to get it about the same time as NY. I have seen gas at 3.31 a gallon. Usually it goes up in these situations. You take care also.

We'll get hammered by this "Frankenstorm" as the weathermen are now calling it. Looks like Monday and Tuesday will be terrible here in Maryland, and I so worry about losing electricity. We're off to the grocery store to see if there is anything left. People in this area usually push the panic button and scoop up everything; it's a hoot when winter comes and the first snowflake falls!

Hasn't it now been "downgraded" to a tropical storm? That means it'll have a real chip on its shoulder and something to prove.
Here in the UK, winter is upon us. Had to dig around for my one coat that's both warm and waterproof. Found £1.40 in the pocket. Seem to remember I found £3.75 last year, but that's the recession for you.
