It is perfectly gorgeous here in Washington, DC today after a Friday of intense thunderstorms, flooding and even tornadoes! Two tornadoes were on the ground where I live, and my parents had to scurry into the cellar twice, but luckily, there was no damage, injuries, nor loss of life. I listened to the all-news radio all the way down the interstate, and they kept interrupting to update National Weather Service bulletins for tornado warnings in the are (there must have been at least a dozen or more), as well as flash flood warnings. Never would one have guessed there was such heavy weather here yesterday, as it's such a fine day, especially for the pool!

London: This time last week in the grip of a heatwave. Now, raining, high of 11c tomorrow. That's the average low for June! Set to rain for most of the rest of the week & might just stagger up to the dizzy heights of 18c by next weekend, if we're lucky.

The locals didn't like it much but being a Great Plains girl by origin, I didn't bat an eye.

Down in the leafy chilterns it's raining. I think it's set to continue which is a great shame for all those people who have organised outdoor jubilee celebrations. Quite a few round here have organised street parties which will be dampened to say the least. For them the beautiful weather of last week came a bit early. Still, the garden is enjoying a good drink.

Wet, grey, miserable. The presenters on Sky News are brightly chatting about it 'not dampening people's spirits' - who are they trying to kid? What is it about British Bank Holidays?
Eamon Holmes has just said (re the Jubilee flotilla on the Thames), "The boats are getting excited now". What planet are these people on?

Sunshine, humid, probably a high in the 80's. I appreciate the dry weather much more.

Joy of joys, the marine layer is in this morning. Official start to "June Gloom". Not to worry for the sun lovers. It should be 74F/ 23C by noon. For non-southern Californians, Marine Layer = Cool air and fog off the ocean. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marine_layerJames and Oz mention this phenomena in their California wine adventure. Here's what it looks when it rolls in NOT on time lapse. www.youtube.com/watch?v=iH3cvLH2K5U

About 13c and overcast here right now...will be consistently 13-14 this week if they've got the forecast right. Borrrrring. We've had a few foggy and frosty mornings lately as well...at least the cold feels worthwhile when there's something to show for it!

After the horrendous storms of Friday, Saturday and Sunday were simply beautiful. Although there were fluffy clouds about, the sun was quite evident. We actually took the Metro to Cleveland Park (a very nice section of DC) and had dinner outdoors at a beautiful upscale Indian restaurant. So many people out and about, enjoying the fine weather before the heat and humidity of a DC summer!

what a weekend to go looking at boats!
We spent the weekend at a boat show looking at narrowboats! Lots of lovely shiney narrowboats! And yes - I want one!
However - it rained all weekend! Good for the canal water level, but rubbish for the exhibitors and visitors alike! Some boat builders even closed thier boats as keeping them clean was impossible!
As we got closer to home, the rain stopped, and its a fairly bright day here now!

Its chilly enough to wear a jumper, beanie and socks in the house! its overcast which is a rare occurance! It smells of smoke outside coz some people are buring their log fires but if you wear jumper and socks i dont really see the need, i dont need any inside heating!! Its the 4th day of Winter and yeah, its arrived! i am enjoying the cooler weather and the ability to wear other things besides a bikini top and shorts for months on end! hehehe

It's changeable here and cold. But there is a window of blue sky coming, so I'm going to go outside and enjoy a few minutes of sunshine.

Our weather's been pretty crappy over the last couple of days, but nothing compared to regional Victoria. Lots of flooding at the moment.

Reminds me of an English summer afternoon here; lots of fluffy white clouds with blue skies peeking out from behind. And it's quite cool for this time of the year. I don't even think it's 70 degrees F.

Raining again.
Lynnemezzo, that doesn't sound like an English summer to me, it sounds far to nice for that!

It's been rainy here for over a week. Supposed to clear after tomorrow though. I feel the need to exchange my raincoat for some sunbathing and a pina colada.
