Is it OK if I start this thread? Just looked up and it's September already! Where does it go, etc etc?
Today, I have a birthday lunch to go to - at 3.15 pm! What do I do with my stomach until then?

Tractor pulls. There was a guilty pleasure of mine in my youth. I couldn't tell any of my friends how excited I was to go to the tractor pulls. Still a bit embarrassed. I grew up in the middle of the US surrounded by agricultural land. There was some mighty fine muscle out there.

Heading home from Atlanta tomorrow. It's been a great con, but it's time to go home. I'm a bit tired of all the jostling crowds, waiting incessantly for an elevator and living out of a suitcase. Photos to follow soon. I've been trying to upload pics for two days, but nothing has been working. Got a few interesting Stig pics to share. Oh well. Maybe I can catch a nap on the plane tomorrow.
Hope everyone has a great September! ;D

It's Labor Day! Sounds fabulous, but as my current work schedule means I always have Mondays off, it's not that special. Just more work tomorrow, as this town seems to think the library being closed for a day is reason to panic.
Soon, I'll be calling a friend who's developed quite the fondness for Jeremy. And puts up with me gushing about James. It's a good friendship.

I am loving Simon's cat, I've never encoutered him before, but I'm truly hooked now. The cat reminds me so much of Isabella (a cat that belongs to a neighbour of my son, everytime she hears my car arrive she magically appears and goes about her purring and kneading and general neediness.

Simons Cat has his on channel on YT for those who are not aware of him yet - www.youtube.com/user/simonscat?feature=results_mainI love them all!!! Morning anyway, day 2 of week off and appropriately today i'm off to the vet - not for me you understand....although..... - no, now i have booked my hols i need to start arranging Suzi's She has to go to a cattery for 10 ten days whilst i'm away, my worry is she'll think she is being dumped again as she was a rescue cat But i'm going to pack all her favourite things including beds - trust there isn't a 20kg limit on her luggage ;D

I'm sure if she has all her favourite things she'll be fine. Smells are important to cats so if she has toys, beds etc she won't feel far from home.
Mind you, it won't stop her from having a major sulk at you when you get back!

I went to visit a cattery a couple of years ago, with a view to depositing my (then) cat, Gussie. The "guests" all looked extremely chilled. No distress to be seen. Gussie scarpered prior to the event, but that's another story.
I'm a devotee of Simon's Cat, but the most recent couple of films have been animated by someone else, and it shows. Take a look, and see if you agree.

Thanks for the messages of support re cat!!!! Now have three potential "Cat" hotels to view at the end of the month. I'm sure she'll be fine, it will be like a holiday for her as she is an indoor cat so having a "run" will be like me having a swimming pool to jump in for a week! Yes i will be in the proverbial dog house when i return

Why is it that being in the 'doghouse' and being in a 'cathouse' are so very far removed from each other in meaning?

It was a comfort zone for them. I was never far away. I hope your little one enjoys her holiday as much as you will yours. But you'll definitely be on her wrong side when you come back. Mine sulked for about 3 minutes this time! ;D I used to get at least half a day of the cold shoulder. I've been so inundated with paperwork and customers today, I haven't had a chance to upload hardly any of my photos. Soon. Very soon.

Curses! It's a work day tomorrow, I'm absolutely cream crackered and there's a monster spider on the loose in the bedroom. Just made a mess of rounding it up twice and now it's galumphing around on the floor. I can tolerate spiders in many locations, but all of them are outside.
The bedroom is a definite no-no. At the moment, I'm perched on the bed, spider-catcher in hand, hoping the damned thing reappears, or it's the sofa for me tonight.
Yes, I'm a wimp, but the thing's the size of a bus.

Jac- I'm sure she'll be fine. I hate leaving my kitty babies or my doggy to go out of town but I've had some really good experiences with cat boarding facilities when I've left town. Once my cat didn't even want to come home. The dog...that's another story. Have you looked at having someone "cat sit" for you. I had someone come into my house once. They'd come by twice a day and hang out for a while. It actually turned out cheaper than the kennel and they were bonded and insured. Wish I could do the same with the dog but she needs to eat three times a day due to medication and stomach problems. ... there's a monster spider on the loose in the bedroom. Yes, I'm a wimp, but the thing's the size of a bus. Does it help at all if I say the big ones usually aren't the ones that bite you or are dangerous? Probably not. I'm trying here.

Morning everyone!
Thanks for the continuing tips on pussycats holiday ;D - I call it that makes me feel better - all noted ;D
As for spiders; having spent a lovely day in Eastbourne with my sis yesterday, involving a very long lunch in the glorious sunshine at the harbour - bliss; i got home late after a laborious drive round the M25 followed by roadworks, thru Beaconsfield, not to welcome home mum/ missed you but to KILL IT!!!! Have to say it was huge!
So Day 4 of week off consists of hair cut and color, can't wait ;D Love the hairdressers ;D So relaxing and i get to read the "trashy" mags ;D

Speaking of hairdressers, my salon called today and said my stylist is moving interstate. It is the end of civilisation as I know it.

I know exactly how you ladies feel. I spent the first 15 minutes of my appointment yesterday discussing whether I should have one layer cut in to the bottom of my hair (the tiniest difference) as she knows that would be a radical move for me, even though I went in with a vague feeling that I needed a bit of a change. (I agreed and I'm happy with the result, by the way, with possible further changes later in the year).
I always trust her judgement as she knows me, and my hair, so well, but I, too, would go into a decline if she ever packed in work. I'm hoping, as it's her own salon and she's only in her mid-40s, that I should be safe for some while yet, fingers crossed!

If there are any Trekkies among us, check out the Google home page, which today celebrates the 46th anniversary of Star Trek. See if you can find the tribbles - it took me three goes.
I love the Google celebration pages. I wish they were archived somewhere.

Agreed about the Star Trek Google - I chuckled immensely and kept going back over it just for fun, even when I'd eventually seen all of it. Love the quivering red-shirted 'e' that knows its fate!
