looks like they are stuck in fishguard, but it does say the four man crew so maybe James is now on-board! Its supposed to be a rest day tomorrow but quite a lot of boats still to get to oban, no rest for them I guess.

Team Garmin battle on Jun 24, 2008 10:54:01 AM | in Garmin News , Marine , Team Garmin Monday 23rd June Weather conditions: Fair Wind: Force 3/4 After initial technical difficulties Team Garmin were pleased to get back in the waters of Milford Haven and were making steady progress towards Bangor cruising at 45-50 knots as they were cautious of encoring further engine problems. Unfortunately the team were unaware that the connection between the fuel line and fuel filter had become loose and was leaking fuel. Due to the heat from the engine the fuel caught alight. This was swiftly dealt with by the automatic fire extinguishers onboard and thankfully no one was injured although the once pristine beast of a boat suffered some slight charring! The team sensibly headed for Cardigan Bay where they fixed the problem. There were two hours before sun set and the team were debating whether to head for Bangor as they could possibly still complete the leg; a decision was made not to attempt the remainder of the leg in the rapidly fading light and to travel to Inverness via road to take on the Inverness to Edinburgh leg fully fit and prepared. garmin.blogs.com/uk/

If they complete this race, Team Garmin deserve an award for tenacity, if nothing else. I'm wanting to see them do it just to stick two fingers up at circumstance now

I'd love to know if James is actually on board, and when. He managed to post a reply to his Telegraph column on Monday. I'm really confused here.

Well according to overall results Garmin is not last....
& the "four man" crew is still there, so he could be on board already. James could fly back today as it is a transfer day with a rest day tomorrow to film TG and then fly back to inverness for the start friday ... and wi fi access would explain replies to column. Must check the times of replies, rushes off to look............................

checked time of reply and it is possible, one things for certain, having watched vids of the race so far, is that he won't be typing it on his laptop whilst travelling otherwise his "eggplants" will be pretty sore methinks!!

There actually in Aberystwyth, god only knows what their doing there, they should be in Oban. Think James has got hold of the wrong end of the map I did wonder if they are filming up in the Welsh mountains becaue where they are right now looks to be in a car park, and the mountains are not too far away. LOL DD sounds like someone knows you're tracking them and has taken the device on a wild goose chase! Not wanting to fuel your amateur sleuth tendencies ;D

Just ask Eclair (Uncle Bernie LOL ;D) Perhaps I should really investigate this race more, but you girls seem to have it all under control

ACSAS makes a good acronym, DD! But sounds time-consuming though! I mean it's one thing sitting here, watching Matthew Wright and writing comments every now and then, and making mental lists of what I OUGHT to be doing instead! But full-time James watching, nah! I can't even keep up with everything that's going on in our little on-line community here. And if I were to start following every fan fic.... Or even writing one, no stop me right there! But googling left right and centre to find out where, what and when James has been/doing, following leads and making deductions..... Speaking from real life experience here, where I had a vested interest in 'knowing all'. Aagh, time-consuming, hell on earth, fruitless and painful! I'm more than happy to wait for all to be revealed when the man wants to reveal it. ;D

I think I'll take heed from you and stay low, that way I can watch, learn and read. LOL, DD. You don't have to be like me! Remember onions and stuff! That aside, I'm genuinely not into all this tracking which all these metaphors for military operations and surveillance suggest. I'm not lying low, as in waiting for my moment! Perhaps there might be something which provokes me to stick my head up above the parapet again, you never know. However, I'm not a person of empty threats. I'm just letting my bruised ego heal, and if it does, I might re-emerge, but it's more likely that I won't! I might go to talks again, especially if they're somewhere with an added interest like Hay, but I'm definitely done with random booksignings, even within a 15 mile radius of home! I intend to follow James's work from a distance whilst enjoying the company of the lovely people on here - you included!

So, was it James' first time on the boat today? Or has he been there all along? What a man of mystery!
