Ok so I just got back from the real one but could I get one of the nice doctors here for some TLC? Something nice and quiet, got a really bad headache to go with the nausea. And maybe for some food that I won't throw up?
I am freaking STARVING. Small sips of water are nearly making me throw up. I've managed, spaced out over the day, one serving of soup.

Heavens Meimichan, you are sick so often. Maybe you need a complete physical to get to the bottom of it all. I would be going crazy...I'm quite a bad patient! I hope you feel better soon.

Do I have my own bed here yet? In spite of being diagnosed and on meds, I'm still feeling under the weather. Didn't sleep yesterday during the full six hours I had available because I had to wake up and puke. Then I worked a double. Got the same schedule tonight/tomorrow morning. I feel so crappy. I think I'm getting better, I just don't know if I'm going to get better enough because of this...suspect I'm going to end up back at the real doctor later. Think I really need sleep more than anything, and I might actually start getting some in about 24 hours.

Dr. May bring your soothing voice and marvelous bedside manner to the meimichan ward. Sleep is needed, but a massage wouldn't go amiss.
Hope you can get some sleep soon and kick this bug!!

Hugs. Get better Meimi, and rest when you can. I'll urge Dr. May to hurry over to your room and prescribe you some much needed TLC.

What a great idea this thread is! I have some chronic health problems and have been hospitalized though infrequently. Could have used Drs. Clarkson, May, and Hammond to keep my spirits up through the last surgery I had. Get well everyone who is ill!

I had a tooth pulled on wednesday, dentists don't tell you root canals go bad, my did so the only alternative was to pull it. I can't take vicadin or those strong pain relievers so I use advil which works, but being older makes it harder. This is day four and I go back next week to check the area. Naturally I want nachos and all kinds of stuff that isn't soft. They could all group around me and read passages to sooth me.

Best wishes, Vivienne! Pain is a horrible thing, I know! What would you like the TG boys to read to you?

Sorry you have dental problems. I'm very squeamish about the dentist. I guess you're already enjoying yogurt, apple sauce, pudding and soup. They are all comforting foods. Hope the dentist gives you the all clear at the appointment and the pain lessens. As RX7 said, what would you like the boys to read? An English Victorian Romance?

Went back yesterday, appears to be healing well but now I need a root canal on another tooth. Pain is bad, just taking advil allergy to most meds. Read Pride and Prejudice so I can imagine Colin Firth is there also. I had dental insurance for 8 straight years but couldn't afford to have the work done as I barely made enough to live. Makes no sense. We should have an NHS for dental.

Is my reserved bed still here? Good. *crawls into bed* Think my sinus infection came back. Spent the day with my face feeling just a few seconds away from exploding, and now I'm gagging on phlegm. Took a decongestant earlier which helped, but the side effects have kind of made me feel like I'm floating since then. Plus it wore off, bringing back imminent face explosion and the stupid phlegm issue. Sorry for anyone who just ate anything, that was probably disgusting. And I've gotta get up at 2am for work. I am never taking a shift like this again. That is the worst wake-up time EVER. And we're supposed to get an ice/snow/rain mixture for weather. OH JOY. Feel you on the tooth pain vivienne...I've got dreadful teeth. I need to go to the dentist. I don't want to. 1) I'm broke and 2) They're not going to tell me anything good.

Dr. May, your services are urgently needed in the Meimichan ward. Bring your best bedside manner, your soothing voice and your magical massaging hands. A hot toddy wouldn't go amiss either.
Hope you can kick this before you have to go to work. Preferably before you go to bed so you can get some good sleep. Take care and watch those roads tomorrow morning.

Nat even with insurance if you need something like a root canal done usually you're out of pocket at least a thousand dollars. Usually medical insurance pays more than dental.

oh interesting and really crap! Here all is in the insurance, at least, mother had a root canal thing done and she didnt have to pay anything herself, or maybe that's different for people who live from the benefits.

I had a root canal done in November, and wish I'd had it done months earlier because it resolved all the pain I was having. However, the root canal and associated crown were about $2500 (no dental insurance).

I think I had to pay half when the procedures were scheduled and half when they were done.

And I'm not really jealous. Envious, yes, but not jealous!

Jac. Don't know if you can find Emergen-C or Theraflu but those are the go to over the counter drugs in this house when we're sick and the hubby has to go out of town for work or the kids have an exam or a competition. The Theraflu is to dry you out and knock you out (Diphenhydramine hydrochloride and Phenylephrine hydrochloride with Acetaminophen). The Emergen-C is to pick you back up 1000 mg of C, 10mg of B6, 25 mcg of B12 plus B1, 2, and 3 taken BID.
A least you can sleep on the plane and you're going some where warm.

Seconding the recommendation for Theraflu if it's available over there. That stuff is a godsend. It knocks me out a good one and tastes revolting, but at least I can breathe in my unconscious bliss. I'm still feeling a little bit out of it, but now I might at least be able to blame exhaustion...my manager more than doubled my hours for this week last night. On the one hand, I'm going to drop dead Friday night. On the other hand, MONEY!
