Sorry I haven't been around for a while. 2 weeks ago, I had a possible mini-stroke and have been laying low. Today was the brain MRI and then a carotid study. However, I feel fine and have tried to carry on normally as much as possible. Bless you Lynnemezzo, that's a worry for you. If it was a mini stroke it sounds like it was treated quickly which is so important. You take it easy now.x

Wow, what a shock! I hope you're doing well now, that your tests are OK, and that you're back to your normal activities soon.

Thanks for your good wishes, everyone. The MRI went well, but I won't know the results until I see my neurologist. I have the carotid study on 11 March. It is an ultrasound procedure so that ought to be easy. If I can get through an MRI, I can do anything. Thankfully I listened to Queen's Greatest Hits on the headphones, but the tech had to tell me to keep still; guess I was singing too much and moved around!
I'lllet you know the results as soon as I find out.

Lynne, that's terrible to hear. Hope your tests come back soon and all is well. The opera season can't be over yet. When you're feeling better, what's next to see?

I haven't been on the board much either Lynne. Fingers crossed all will be well. Good idea to lay low and rest.

I won't hear about the test results until I see my neurologist. I don't plan to go until after I have my carotid study (an ultrasound to determine whether enough blood is getting to the brain through the carotid arteries), which will be done 11 March. I still feel well, and I am continuing to teach my university classes. However, I do look forward to spring break in another week!

Had an appointment with the neurologist this past Tuesday and the brain MRI and the carotid study showed absolutely NO sign of either a TIA or a stroke! Yippee! That being said, he mentioned something called a "vasovagal syncope" (yeah, I had no idea what he talked about, either). It is the body's response to some kind of either physical or emotional stress, which often results in fainting, and I did pass out. It involves the vagus nerve, which is probably the most important nerve in your body, but I'll spare you the gory details! The bottom line is I'm just fine, and I want to thank everyone here for their good wishes and thoughts. They were very much appreciated!

Fantastic news. It sounds like you've got a great bill of health. I have heard of that fainting and the vagus nerve before.
