So i went to the doctor yesterday and she said it's a infection on my meniscus. Because i'm always sitting with my feet on my chair and because of that my meniscus is stretching,if you know what i mean. I always sit like that when i'm home for as long as i can remember. So now i have to sit like an adult ;D. I had a new pain killer for the infection and i slept like a baby. So happy and i'm gonna try to sit like a normal person

Melly-Oh my gosh! I didn't see that coming. You weren't kidding. You were really, really in pain and sick. Great you got some sleep and the doctor was helpful.

That is good news, Melly. Glad it's something fairly easy to fix. Sitting up straight now??!!!

Yes i'm really glad. What a good night sleep can do. Especially when i'm sitting on the computer it's hard to sit "normal". But i'll do my best.

Not the worse of ailments, but I have another rotten cold. More annoying than anything else. I think I've just run myself into the ground and this is my body's way of dealing with it.
Now, where's May?

May's on the way, with a box of lovely soft tissues and a hot toddy.
Get well soon!

That sounds fantastic right now.
Resorting to the good ol' Vicks VapoRub. I'm sure Dr May wouldn't mind setting a little time aside to administer it...

Ah, this seems like the place for me to be right now. There is a Psych department, right?
*flops on couch, feet the wrong way*
So, today should be my hubby's birthday. The last one I celebrated with him was in 2010. He died later that year. Believe me, I'll be back in here for more typey-therapy around that anniversary.
July 2010 started off great. We went to a spoken-word performance by Henry Rollins (OMG was it great), then to a July 4 celebration with my family. That would be the last time he went out of town. He got so ill the next week, I didn't think he'd even see his birthday. I was in full caretaker mode, left work (thank god for Family Medical Leave Act) and focused just on him.
Let me tell you, even if you're strong, physically and emotionally, caretaker stress can still get to you big-time. I just about killed my back trying to help him in and out of chair or bed or toilet. I started waking up in the night to check to see if he was still breathing. That is just torture.
I hate the health care system in the US.
Thanks for letting me tell-and-rant a bit.

I'm so sorry to hear of your loss TSF. Feel free to tell-and-rant anytime. Such anniversaries must be awful for you. *sends hugs and Dr. May for a soothing chat*

With you on that one, TSF. Would have been my husband's birthday on the 25th. Lost him in Feb 2009. Moving on now, but will never forget.
And yes, we all need a bit of a rant about life sometimes!

Apparently Aeromanda is having surgery today. Did anyone know? She tweeted to James for a response. I hope all goes well. I think it's the same one she had 3 previous times.

I know Dr. James is very good with spare parts, but would he be able to get me two new knees and hips? I think I have worn my original set out with all the walking and climbing stairs that I have done in the past 2 weeks.
Actually one knee might have to be replaced for real. I fell down a very steep set of stairs at my college in Cambridge and fractured it and did a lot of damage to the internal parts. Rehab did wonders but the old pains are back and I am not feeling very confident.

Aeromanda was having the screw in her ankle removed today. She's home and feeling better. Hope this surgery is her final one.

Son number one had a massive set of breaks to his leg and ankle when he was 15 (sk8r boi then - but now all grown up (he is the one who got married in Rhodes last week!)
His leg and ankle were pinned and screwed together ('Nurse! What is the screw made of?' Reply - 'I'm not sure! I think its plutonium.')
Everything came out ok - apart from one screw in his ankle. Two operations later and it is still there! They have decided it is better off where it is!
Hopefully Aeromanda has had better luck and is well on the way to be mended - no more setting security alarms off at the airport!

Aeromanda got to keep the screw they took out of her ankle. It was made of titanium. At least it wasn't a lethal substance! Plutonium indeed! ;D

Back to the James May Hospital for follow-up treatment!
So, today's my 11th wedding Anniversary. The second one alone. I don't even remember what I was like last year, but this year I just feel this tightness in my chest. No weepy-time. A little worrying, but I'll deal with it tonight (doggie snuggles, Doctor Who music)
Our wedding day was hilarious. Our friends did keep us separated, even though the house only had one full bathroom. When they finally bundled my groom out the door, I was able to finish getting ready in peace.
I actually drove myself to the courthouse, in my dress. (Fun story, found the dress at Hot Topic, a goth shop at the mall. It looked fantastic, though) As I drove past our local comic shop, who should i see inside but my groom and his friends! All I could think was that if he missed the ceremony because of comic-shopping, it'd be a very short marriage!
He made it, though. The courthouse has lovely Thomas Hart Benton murals, the judge was dignified, and everyone (including three other couples) was dressed very nicely. We were both shaky with nerves, but made it through our vows. Then we took everyone out for sushi!
I knew I wouldn't have loads of years with him, because of our age difference, but nine was too few. At least we packed those years with memories.
Thanks for "listening".

I'm so sorry for the loss of your husband. Anniversaries and birthdays can be rather difficult, but it looks like you're doing the right thing. Reminisce with good memories. I can just picture the look on your face when you saw your groom at the comic store. ;D
We're always here to listen. Take care.

Oh, head colds. The illness that makes me beg "Please kill me now" which thankfully my dogs don't understand.
The deathwish-level misery will pass! Keep drinking fluids, don't want to add dehydration to your problems!
I hope you can get plenty of rest and successfully recuperate soon, melly.
