Is it just me or has this board been running very slowly over the last couple of days? Most other web sites still seem to be running at normal speed so I figured it can't be my connection or PC. Maybe TOH has realised I come here and has done something to my PC to make this site slow in the hopes that I'll give up visiting it ....... no chance of that!

It was running a bit slow last night, but it seems to be OK now.
I also wondered if my computer was playing up, and hoped it wasn't, because it was bought new only a few months ago!

It keeps crashing Firefox on my PC, but I suspect that's more to do with my PC than the board. It vanished off the face of the earth a few minutes ago, but it's back now.

Just had an alert on my admin stuff which may apply to some members and maybe connection issues for others as follows.
Sky Broadband Users (Connection Info)
Users of Sky Broadband have been experiencing connection issues to our servers since yesterday. We have posted a workaround solution for these users which will allow you access to ProBoards forums.
We are continuing to investigate the root cause of this issue (which is a port 80 block on our servers), and have provided information for contacting Sky customer support in this thread.
For further updates, please keep an eye on our Support Forum.

Thanks, Mayfayre. I always get quick answers! Though I can't think why anyone would not want their name of the list of members, as we all use pseudonyms any way. I use the invisible mode on all the message boards I'm a member of. It has probably something to do with me feeling safer that way??? I don't want people to know about the ungodly hours I'm on the computer sometimes. ;D

Fair enough! I must admit I sometimes write things and then rather hope no-one knows they come from me (normally naughty things!) but then I remember that even the admin people only know my e-mail address. As long as I don't put anything that clearly identifies me then no-one can possibly know who I am.
While I'm on this thread, is it normal for my log-in details to sometimes fill themselves in and sometimes not? And also, is it normal for me to be logged off after 6 hours, no matter what time I put in (even Forever)?

I think the login details are due to whether you agreed to let them be filled in or not, like firefox asks me all the time, the same for explorer, as for log times, erm not tried that myself I'll have a fiddle when I have the time.

Thanks lew. I'm afraid that, now I've found this thread, I'm using it quite a lot. I really appreciate your help.

Just to let you know (and I'm not nagging, honestly!) that the previous problem continues. For example, I logged on yesterday, my username and password didn't come up. I logged on for a week. This morning my name and details came up. I had to put in the time again and I logged on for 6 hours. Tonight I've come on and my name and details didn't come up. Again I've logged on for 6 hours.
I understand that it will probably cut off if I switch off the computer but I don't understand why sometimes my details come up and at other times they don't. In the world-wide scheme of things it's not in the slightest bit important, but it's starting to bug me. Any advice or explanations?

Dit, do you (or anyone else who uses the PC) delete your cookies regularly? If so, that will make the browser forget your login.
One of the other boards I use seems to be able to cope with me logging in from 3 different computers, but if I use a 4th, then whichever computer I use next will have forgotten me.

Well, I'm the only one using the computer and to be honest I never delete cookies, never even think about it. I guess it must just be one of those quirky things that happens. I've never tried to get on the board on any other computer as the one I use at work won't let me on - our network bans all messageboards, chat sites etc.

Thanks for trying anyway, lew. I don't understand it at all - if there was a pattern so I could say "Oh, it only does it when I do this" then at least I could avoid doing whatever it was! I'll just have to carry on waiting to see what happens each time.
As I said, it's not crucial to my existence, just annoying! Thanks again.

I went to the "Clone Sanctuary" thread earlier and wanted to add to the story but the reply box and button have vanished - it appears the thread has been locked? What's the reason for this please?

Nasty few moments (well, quite a while, really) when the Board went missing today. I was relieved when I followed the links to find it was a proboards problem, but I was already having premature withdrawal symptoms when it came back on, thank goodness. Al least it explains why it seemed to have gone increasingly "sticky" over the past few days.

JMB seems to be running like treacle today. It's not proboards as a whole, because I use a few Proboards sites, and they all seem okay

Has anyone else had terrible trouble getting onto the JMB over the last 24 hours or so? Or perhaps it's proboards in general. For example, I came in nearly an hour ago and the first time I got on was 2 minutes ago. All other sites seem OK.
I don't think it's just me as I'm now on a new laptop from when I had problems earlier in the year.
Any suggestions? Or comforting messages of reassurance?

I've been offline for a week or so as I moved house, but now have interweb back and running and not had any problems loading the board. Has anyone else? Dit, I suspect it may well be your lappy? www.proboards.com/server_statusAll is well according to Proboards not that this is necessarily the case

I wasn't thinking of it being the laptop as every other site is picking up immediately except this one, and it's a new laptop (a month old). Having said that, this morning I got straight on, (though this is the first page I've tried!) so fingers crossed things might be OK now. I'll let you know if I have any further problems.
Thanks Eclair.
